This is very simple people. I got the same call about an hour ago and looked up the number here to read all the comments. After giving it some thought, I came up with an idea. With the help of a hacker or programmer (of which I am not) a virus could be written and placed on a computer waiting for the next call. Since these guys are persistent, this should be easy to do. As soon as they are given remote access, the virus would upload lurid pictures of Muhammad (not sure on spelling, don't care) with one locked as the screen saver. When co-workers see it, they will have to declare a jihad on them and stone them or whatever they do. We read about it on the internet and have satisfaction of knowing who was behind it and no one will want to work there anymore. Problem solved.

Just got call from 213-217-9953 from a woman with a heavy Indian accent claiming her name was Carol. She said there appeared to be a problem with my windows computer. I asked her how she knew I had a windows computer. She said that she was made aware by her company. I said "You really should try a different tactic as I have never heard of a windows computer. Windows is an operating system NOT a computer brand."  All I had to say to get a very audible hang up was tell her that I was an employee of Microsoft. LMAO!

--> 213-217-9953 <--  This number has been calling the house I work in for the past two weeks.  It is a Los Angeles Spoofed? number as near as I can tell.  I am no where near Ca.  Indian accent speaker[s] both male and female are calling here as early as 7:45 a.m. and first question out of their mouth after a quick greeting is:  " Were you on your computer today?"  Followed by; "I would like to speak with you about your computer."  I interrupt them and inform them that the lady of the house does not own a computer.  She is 87 yrs old. I then politely ask them to stop calling they are interrupting my care of said woman.

Caller sounded like he was from India.  Said he was calling from tech support about problems with my computer...just told him where to go and hung up.

call from 213-217-9953 saying my account is locked and to press the number one....no way did i do this, i hung up.

Getting repeated calls from this number on caller id no message and i attempt to call it back its  a fax number. This is some kind of calling scam  caller area code LosAngles Ca  I live in Vermont.

person called spoke in indian language .... blah blah .... you are on criminal records

Called and didn't leave a message.  Probably a telemarketer.

Caller asked if I was Frugal Water Gardens, when I said yes, they hung up. I tried returning call only to discover it was a non-working number.

I just received a call from this number saying that a carrier has tried to contact me twice. They said that I need to contact some 877 number to update the carrier to receive paper work on a court proceeding that was taking place against me. I have lived at this address for almost 2 years and only had the number that they contacted me for about 6 months. I have not received any notification on my door saying that a carrier has tried to contact me 2 before. I am not sure what i should do. Some one please help me. Also the number they gave me either they missed a number or i forgot to write the number down, but i have tried almost every variation possible and got nothing.

I just received the same call, her name was Monica banks, she said she was with the finalization department,  and I had 2-3 hours to call bsck, before the paperwork was put onto next week's court docket. Let a call back#w/extention. Number not remotely close to the number on caller ID... What the heck is this?

Was an automated voice on the other end saying that "Unfortunately my visa or mastercard was cancelled due to suspicious activity" and to "Press 1 to reactivate the card." SCAM! They didn't say what my bank was or anything... Don't do it... I just hung up the phone, but pretty sure if I had pressed 1, it would have asked for my cc info and other info. This number is a scam.

I got a call saying I owed 1049.00 and that I was going to have authorities at my house in an hour and I was going to court.

Also wanted to mention that most of these calls originate from out of the country, and are spoofed #';s
I've even had them use my own home phone # as the incoming caller. Yesterday I had these spoofed calls, NEVER ANSWER them!! from NY, LA, TX, WA, and OH. That was a light day of fraudulent calls.

I get A LOT of scam calls from taking out an online payday loan. Usually its obvious with thick Indian accents
and accusations/penalties that they are con artists. This one sounded legitimate "Agent Hammond" claiming a complaint had been filed against  me for harassment. Being a recent victim of domestic violence I assumed I was continuing to be harassed. She ends the call with "This is your official notice, and I will see you at your home or work soon" and any return call should be direct to the Legal Dept. at 866-884-4058 and leaves a ref. number. These people are driving me insane!!!

Called my cell number asking for someone I worked with 3 years ago. That is the only relationship we have had is work........... Some male left a threatening message and of course ended it with good luck you have been notified. Hopefully next time (if there is one) I will have the "fog horn" handy. Oh the call had something to do with fraud...........

You're right - it is unlawful behavior.  Debt is civil, not criminal, so no one is going to be arrested.  No one is called ahead of time and given a heads up that they'll be served OR arrested - the court process servers or the cops just show up.  

Report the calls to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.  Since these callers may be from outside the US, there's not much to be done, except tell them you know they're scammers, you've reported them and that the FBI is monitoring all calls they make to you.

The same with me and I don't know why they are calling, and are they bringing police officers for credit? This is all new to me and I guess times are hard for everyone that they have to resort to this type of unlawful behavior?

So, got a VM on my cell phone from 213.217.9953 from an Investigator Young, stating my name, that there was a civil case pending in their office, and that I had 24 hours to respond to 877-360-6464, ending with a final "You have been notified"

Sooo, being who I am, I called that number, from another number than the one I was contacted on, and requested to know the name of the company making the contact. The "receptionist" informed me that she was just the receptionist and that there were multiple companies at that phone number. So, I gave her the extension 107, and she put me through. I remained polite yet firm. When the "Investigator Young" answered the phone, I again stated that I had received a threatening VM and was attempting to ascertain from what company it was from. She stated that there were several companies that she dealt with and that she would need either a name or the phone number the call was made to before she could give me anymore information.

Now, a short aside here, she had just called and left a VM on my cell phone not 10 mins before, so it begs to wonder how many of those she makes in a day and for how many different companies. Also, I haven't taken out any payday loans since 2005 and they were cleared almost immediately. It was an emergency and it was taken care of on the next paycheck, nothing since then.

I again politely but firmly stated that I was just trying to figure out what company it might be so I could do my own investigating before giving out any more of my information to an unknown company for unknown, possibly nefarious purposes. She was not amused and stated that without a name or a phone number she was not required to give me any more information. And then she hung up on me.

The government isn't actually letting them get away with this. Its been pretty clear that they are breaking the laws, but it takes time for the government to catch up with them.  Filing reports as mentioned under many of these same style extortion calls does help! FBI, State Attorney generals office as well as the FTC, BBB,FCC..  

Some of these calls are not even made from the US though. Some are spoofed calls and calls from foreign country's. If they originate outside the US, then it becomes a international problem and unless that country is willing to work with the US then they continue on..

Do read through some of the other threads here.. real eye openers as to this extortion racket going on! Also do read up on your FDCPA rights and states rights and follow through with the filing of reports & complaints to the Federal and State authority's

Got a call advising that my husband needed to call and pay for his defrauding a financial institution to avoid further criminal action against him. Also advised they would show up and home, work, and family member's houses till hes located. I really am hoping but doubtful of their showing up at my residence. Though I'd welcome them with open arms. Firearms that is! I can't believe the government allow these a$$holes to pull this $hit!
