Any clue where this is from?

So today i get a call from this guy and he says his name is Investigator Bernard Roberts and he wants me to wire money to him for a loan that i made when i was 18! Almost 6 years ago! He said i would be arrested tonight if i won't pay him. Luckily for me, only 23 and semi-gullible my dad is a smart man. He called him and told him that if i don't pay i would be going to jail. My dad calls my state and asks all the counties that i have ever lived in if i had an arrest warrant or if there was fraudulent charges placed against me and everyone of them told him no. So...i called my local authorities and they told me if there was something so severe pending against me that i would get a court subpoena, or some kind of official notice if i were to be arrested. So the officer i talked to told me to definitely not send money and gave me the number to my state authority to call in the morning. I hope i can do something to get this guy stopped. I may be young and gullible but my dad is wise and well represented so if push come to shove i'll get him put this b*****d away!

Send him a certified cease and desist letter saying he does not have permission to call you work and also file a complaint with the FTC and your state's attorney general's office. You can do that online, it only takes a few minutes.

I received a voice message today from a Irwin McClain. He stated that he needed me to call him back and that he works for Forgery and Check Division. I called back and never talked to him, but another gentlemen who stated that Mr. McClain works for him and asked me my name. I told him I was not giving that information until I knew what this call was about. The gentlemen said it was about Lottery winnings. I still did not give name. He said "I can keep hiding and they will continue to find me". Who are these people?

I just got off the phone with this nut...I cursed him out and called him a F***n dumb a**..guess that made him mad and he hung up...He would not identify himself nor tell me why he was calling. Im just waiting on him to call back so i can blast on his a** again...

I had the same problem. This guy is a idiot and I could tell he was FAKE when I heard his ignorant voice!!!! HE HAS MESSED WITH THE WRONG ONE NOW!!!! Dont send this fool any money or you are a fool yourself. The best thing to do is contact the main company you owe money to and get to the bottom of it!!!

I've been getting calls from Insp.  Mc Clain for the longest.  He says I owe for a payday loan.  I don't know that I do.  I  was stupid enough to send him 100 dollars,  only because he said I would be criminally prosecuted.  I've told him not to call me at work,  he continues to,  even having a female ask for me.  I'm so scared of this guy.  He's costing me my job.

A man calling himself Irvin McClain called my house 3 times in a matter of 30 minutes and left the same message stating he was investigating a fraud case about someone in my family and strongly encouraged they call TODAY or more drastic force would be started.  
He is nothing more than a debt collector and I REALLY do not want to receive any more calls from this person.

Ive been getting a call also from investigator mclain on this number..this is a scam!!!..do not send money to him..your account will not be paid and they continue to bother you over and over.Sue them for illegal collection practices and pocket 1000.00 in the long run.

He called my home looking for someone in the family and the story he told me was similar .We need to stop this guy this is very annoying

I am getting the same calls from this person, something to do with a payday loan I know nothing about.   He is very persistent but as a Law Enforcement officer myself an investigation does not work this way with you being interrogated over the phone.   Only a face to face meeting would be admissable in court.   He is merely a debt collector in multiple violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.   He refuses to send written confirmation...violation.  Refuses to stop calling when asked...violation.   Makes threats...violation.   Falsely identifies himself as someone of importance, ie. INVESTIGATOR McClain.  

It is hard not to feel intimidated but just ignore this guy and file complaints with the Federal Trade Commission online at www.ftc.gov, the Better Business Bureau, or any other law enforcement agencies you can.   I have everything he has said to me recorded so the only person looking at criminal charges will be him for Unlawful Use of Telephone.

Anyone who feels the least bit intimidated..DON'T!!! and above all DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY ANYWHERE!!!  This is a scam plain and simple. There is no such thing as Debtors Prison and having a payday loan that you may or may not have defaulted on is not cause for legal action that can put you in jail.  It is a debt like any other.

I am constantly receiving phone calls from a man claiming to be investigator irwin mclain. He will not give me the company he works for, and he keeps making idle threats to arrest me for being a part of check scam

HILARIOUS! Maybe you should stick to scamming on the phone because you suck at it on the internet.

investigator mcclain has helped me in payin off some of my debts. he is a very great man .
i don't know what these guys are talking about. i feel that he is just doing his job.

Received a call at work from "Investigator McClain", and he pompously emphasises "Investigator", stating I needed to call him back IMMEDIATELY.  When asked for a reference, he advised it was concerning an investigation in Montana.  Haven't been anywhere near Montana in 35+ years.  He is a pest, and my work number is on a no-call list with our state Attorney General.  Hope what he thinks he can scam out of someone will cover his bond when they pursue my complaint, and this state pursues these creeps.

I answered today cuz I thought it was someone else, and it was Mr. McClain. I told him this was my job and he cant' be calling here. He said it was about something against me in my state, with the attorney general's office. I told him again, I cannot talk, I'm at work. So then he threatened me, saying 'do I wanna be embarrassed at xxxxxxx (job name). I said 'sure' because I just wanted him to go away. We both then hung up.

'Investigator McClain' left a voicemail at my job....same story as above...I hate getting these calls at my job!!  I put the # on the 'do not call' list...does that make a case against him??

"Investigator MCClain" from representing unknown company and unknown address calling from 213-261-3710 is making harrassing and threatening phone calls to my relatives nationwide in thje U.S. and my place of employment identifying himself in a manner that the persons receiving the calls are led to believe he is an FBI agent with the U.S. Federal Government.  He states if he does not get cooperation from me (the "person of interest") he would be "coming after" them too.  I am in employed in Local Law Enforcement in a large city within my state and have been for a decade.  If the FBI was attempting to reach me they would not harrass a relative of mine on the opposite coast!  This person is very intimidating, persistant and violating federal laws.

He kept calling me talking about I would get locked up if I didn't pay anything on an online loan from CMG Group. Saying that my state was doing a statewide sweep of people that owe online loans. I called the State Attorney General's office and they told me that they weren't doing a statewide sweep. Also, he wanted me to wire the money to him and they told me that it was a scam because of that.

My brother who lives in another state received a call from "Investigator McClain" as well stating that he was conducting a tri-state investigation and that I was a person of interest.  When I called, he would only identify himself as Investigator McClain.  F****ng bill collectors... crooked b*****ds getting even more desperate in these tough times.

I have repeatedly recieved phone calls from this number at my place of employment a man claiming to be an investigator named Irwin McClain conducting an investigation in my state saying that I am a person of interest. I fell behind on some online payday loans that's all I owe. He never states that he is calling in an attempt to collect a debt or he won't say who he represents. There is also no address to this number. He also told my coworker that if I don't respond to his phone call in sometime they'll come looking for me....
