I got the call from someone with a Mexican accent, saying he was calling from Windows in California.  He kept trying to get me to go to my computer so he could fix the problem of my computer sending out malware messages.  I told him he was a stupid scam and get off my line.  I hung up on the idiot...

got the same call other people here have received - claimed that my computer was having an issue - wanted me to be in front of it (which I was) and tried to explain that my computer was sending malware reports to Windows.  When i asked him what he wanted me to do, he started treating me like an idiot (press the Start button) but when i tried pressing him for more details of what he wanted me to do, he got flustered, tried to tell me that he wanted to help and when I told him where to get off, he told me he knew my father and tried saying something in an bad Indian accent is when I hung up.  Tried calling the number back but got a fast busy signal which indicates a trunk issue where ever this call originated.  Complete and utter scam and just hang up on these people - just too stupid - do not be taken in!

Add me to the list of phishing call receivers.  Another Eastern accented caller reporting to be Windows Service Center calling because my computer was infected by a virus.  All he wanted to do was get access to my computer to clean it.  What a scam!!   I had already done my online research before the call got too far.  I decided to assault the caller, insult the caller and become profane.  He should have ended the call but persisted to try to get me to believe him.  What a jerk!

I am making a complaint because this number keeps calling my house. There seems to be another person on the other line after I say, "Hello." but there is no response even after 2 seconds. I hear that people who do that are violating the FCC rules under, "War dialing." and there is a form to fill out for that called the 1088 form.

When are you people going to realize no one shut anyone down?  The number these people show on your CallerID is FAKE!  It doesn't exist!  It might NEVER have existed!  IT'S AS PHONEY AS THEIR COMPANY!!!!

At least they are using a blank number.  I pity the guy in Florida whose number one of the scammers was spoofing for a while.

I answer.  I make them wait on the call, talking slow, then let loose with a tirade at them.  Probably doesn't do a bit of good, but it lets me vent!

After repeated calls and no messages left we answered and a man calling himself "Andy Johnson" with a heavy Spanish accent asked for my husband specifically then proceeded to tell him he was from "windows" and that they were receiving errors from our pc. Husband told him he'd check it out later and to please not call. Joke's on Andy. We are an apple family. No pc here. Total scam. Hope they stop calling. I am on the do not call list. Not that they care.

Got a call the today from this number saying all MS products were infected by Malware and they (MS) was calling everyone to help correct the problem.  He wanted me to turn on my computer and work with me.  My guess is he wanted remote access.  I told him I couldn't work with him now, and asked him for his name and for a call back number.  He said his name was James Anderson and the number he gave was 213-221-3528.  James Anderson had a very heavy Indian or Pakistani accent.

I'm pretty sure Microsoft would not call unless I initiated a call and opened a ticket first.

The name that came up under the caller id was V03170725580003

These stupid people keep calling even though I'm on the Do Not Call list, and have reported them (useless as that might be) several times on the Do Not Call Complaint site.  They claim my computer is sending out error messages, from my ip.  I insist they give me my ip, and he just keeps talking and trying to get information from me.  He finally gave me the ip, which was incorrect, of course. Told him I'm a retired IT tech so he's calling the wrong person, my computers - all of them - are just fine.  Told him to remove me from their call list, I'm on the DNC Registry and will keep reporting them.  And, as usual, calling back the phone number on my caller ID is not valid.

Call from "California"  (which police could be made to look like it came from there), Male, slight accent.
Sounded intoxicated.  Had an accident in Barcelona, was at a event with his friend Brad.  Called US Embassy and got off any charges.  But needs money.
Little does he know the call was reported to the police immediately.
God knows what these fools are doing and when Judgement day comes. They will have to answer to the TRUTH. Pray they convert before then.
Action taken with authorities.

Kent, if you gave him access to your computer, you are infected already. Please get you computer checked out  by a reputable computer tech and have it scanned for viruses and malware.  Usually these guys leave a backdoor Trojan on your computer enabling them to use your computer for anything from spamming to scamming.

THIS IS A SCAM. This is a version of the advance-fee-for-something scam where something is a grant, grant paperwork, business plan, loan, scammed-money refund, lottery winnings, interest rate reduction, tax reduction, gift card, refund, doggie, cruise, vacation, free gas, etc., and the advance-fee is for tax, shipping, registration, insurance, secure handling, processing, etc. They may send you a fake check, may want your credit/debit card or bank account number, or tell you to wire cash via Western Union, Moneygram, etc. They can put recurrent difficult-to-cancel monthly charges or a 1-time charge on your card or bank account, and sell account info to other criminals and you'll have to replace accounts altogether. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. If they want you to call them up for instructions, they may tell you not to discuss the wire with Western Union desk clerks but the real reason is WU clerks are familiar with these scams and will warn you not to wire the money. If you give them the WU Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) for the wire, they can pick up the money from anywhere in the world. Report to US Postal Service Inspectors https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/MailFraudComplaint.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

Person states there was a problem with my Microsoft program, he was from Microsoft, and they were veiwing it now and I needed to immediately do what he told me to do to prevent my computer from crashing.  I told him my computer was not turned on and in fact was unplugged.  So he said the problem was noted in the past two or three days.  I told him there was no way I was going to do what he told me to do over the phone when there was no way he could identify that he was who he said he was.  So he told me my computer would crash tomorrow and would not be able to be restored and then he hung up.

So  my grandma got ripped off two weeks ago, sent a man 2200 in Spain, so  TODAY 2/24/12, A man calls and says he's from the FBI, and wants to catch the guys who did it. He says they are close and needs someone "very carefully" send more money to spian nad have them catch them in the ACT.  So I ask some pretty primative questions "Where are you Mark Suitor?" He answers correctly Langley, Virginia (FBI headquarters) then I ask him for a phone number I can get back to him and he hangs up.

WOW, not only did this guy rip my grandma two weeks ago, HE TRIED TO DO IT AGAIN!  Instead of being a grandson overseas he tried to FAKE being an FBI agent.

What Hubrius. Good thing these guys are idiots.  Boom Baby

I got a call from this number yesterday (2-22-12). Guy had a heavy mid-eastern or asian accent. He said he was a Microsoft technician and that my computer has been sending "many error messages" and that it was infected with a virus and that someone (unspecified) had hacked my computer. My computer has been running slow recently so his story seemed plausable. As a result when he asked me to turn it on I did. He then had me type in a file name which unfortunately I did not write down but it gave him control of the computer where he presented various files showing many pages of error messages. I was quite a performance. He then asked if I wanted to get rid of the problem. When I said I did he connected me to a person named "David" who was identified as his "supervisor". By this time I was getting suspecious (about time you might say!) David said that he would supply me with various anti-virus and other programs along with free technical support but I would have to pay for the software with my credid card. I told him I would think about it and call him back. He gave me a number to call (408-786-5612) and abruptably hung up. Obviously I did not call back.
