Sandra.....

I just read your note.  THE SAME EXACT THING has happened to my husband and myself.  This company has robbed us too of $3,000.00 and also went into our account and withdrew $700 also!!! They have told us our reimbursement check has been mailed and 4 weeks ago and we still have not seen anything and they will not return our calls.  We also want to file suit.  We need more and more victims to come forward and band together in a major lawsuit against this POS fraud and scam of a company.  Please call me at 252-814-7520

Thank you!

BE CAREFUL!!

I've looked all over their website and couldn't find their real estate license number. And so I called the San Diego Department of Real Estate at (619) 525-4192
to verify that they were licensed and they're not and was advised to be careful before sending them or an attorney any funds for a loan modiciation. This is what I found the following on the www.dre.ca.gov website..

ADVANCE FEES FOR LOAN MODIFICATIONS NOW PROHIBITTED

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed Senate Bill 94 (Calderon) which prohibits any person, including real estate licensees and lawyers, from demanding, charging, or collecting an advance fee from a consumer for loan modification or mortgage loan forbearance services. IF YOU ARE APPROACHED BY ANY PERSON REQUIRING UP FRONT FEES FOR THESE SERVICES DO NOT PAY THEM.

When I checked the BBB, they are listed as Advance Fees Brokers and take a look at their site. This information is directly from the BBB site.. http://www.la.bbb.org/business-reviews/Loan-M ... es-CA-100111159

Complaint: 04/17/2012: Christian would not answer my questions, just said to trust him and send in the money.. How can anyone just trust someone they have never met and send over the money like that with all the scams happening in todays world in this industry especially! I do need their help if they are real, not willing to just send over a couple grand to find out. Also, California has a law that mortgage modification companies can NOT require payment upfront.. Why can Advocates for Consumer Affairs break that law? When these questions were asked by me to Christian, he would not reply in a logical manor. When I wrote the questions in an e-mail, he did not answer them, he said to forget the whole thing and that was the last I have heard from him.

Complaint: 04/06/2012: I was told this was a loan modification company. They said I had to pay $1950.00 for them to process. I was to send three checks two for 750 and one for 450. After they cashed first one they began giving me the run around. When I started checking I found it was alleging to charge for service up front. When I called to talk to them I was told I was a Fu....... Idiot his words (Scott O'Brien). And they were going to enjoy my 750 dollars that I would not get back. Now I am further in debt than when I started. They need to be stopped. Please help.

Complaint: 02/28/2012: I contacted Advocates for Consumer Affairs regarding a loan modification. I sent them the information on my lender and personal financial information. They called me and told me that they had a confirmed loan modification from my lender (Saxon Mortgage). They sent me a letter outlining the new loan that they said my lender had agreed to. The terms of the new loan were: 40 year fixed at 2.125% interest, fixed and fully amortized with monthly payments of $1840.67 beginning May 01, 2012. They confirmed that the February 02, 2012 sale date on my home had been postponed until April 24, 2012 and that they were getting the new loan docs prepared. Christian Hart of ACA requested a payment of $1225.00 with an electric transfer from my bank account on January 27, 2012. He stated that this was not a "Loan Modification Fee". He stated that my new loan was guaranteed by my lender and that this was a "Processing Fee" required to draw up and process the new approved loan. On January 31, 2012 I called my lender (Saxon) to confirm this. Saxon denied ever speaking with Advocates for Consumer Affairs regarding a modification and that no new loan was ever discussed or agreed to by them. They told me that no one from ACA spoke to them about postponing the sale date on my home. My home went to auction on February 02,2012 and was foreclosed on and reposed by Saxon. I called ACA on February 07, 2012 and was told by Eric Knox of ACA that they were sorry and would refund my money.

I am a client and I have been robbed of nearly $4000.  First, I authorized payment of $1,875.  Two weeks later, they withdrew a duplicate amount.  My bank has taken responsibility, but Christian Hart promised a refund, never sent it, and now will not respond to my phone calls.  As far as I can tell, this is a total scam and I intend to file suit.  Please, if anyone out there has more info, I need your help.
Thanks.

I did not deal with this company directly, but my imediate family member paid this company 2200 to handle saving their home, they just got kicked out of their home, last week and the last time the ring around the rosie game they played with my family member ended with a man telling my family member to F-OFF and hung up on her!! Dont trust these people, it is always suspicious that such a huge company that is supposedly in 26 states doesn't have a website?? Come on? And nothing can be found on the web about them? Never a good sign.

One word. DITTO. Listen, I am starring at a trash can and it is about as a savvy as you are when it comes to negotiating loans. If we are guessing with no proof then I would say you are a born loser and pathetic. Drink up skippy and keep posting on a site that is not verifiable or reliable. ANYONE who reads these non client posts and believes anything on here once again has MAJOR issues. Seek a shrink not a loan mod. Bye bye.

I used Advocates for consumer affairs and they got me an incredible deal!  I literally saved over $1000 a month on my mortgage. I find it very disturbing the messages on here from people who are NOT clients. Is anyone commenting on here even a client...? I would bet they are not! Once again ,this is a great firm and they did everything they said they were going too. Does 800notes verify these comments or is this just another site with BS postings..? Anyone who reads these negative posts from non-clients and believes them has more issues then just their finances. Good luck and happy fishing.

I also received a call from these people though the phone number was 866-730-5515.  The first person I talked with said they could do a forensic audit of my mortgage and use that as leverage to get a loan modification.  The second person said I qualified for a loan modification and he had a firm offer from my lender which would reduce my monthly mortgage payment in half.  He said Advocates for Consumer Affairs was the leading company which managed unperforming assets for my mortgage company.  He wanted $2,250 sent within 24-hrs and if I didn't send it my interest rate lock would be lost.  I told him I wanted to research his company and couldn't afford to pay the money until the first of the month and would call him back in March he said don't bother and hung up on me.

Sounds like a scam company to me.

This company is a complete SCAM!  I received a call from a number I don't use often and the person sounded like he was high on pills... can I speak with the person who holds the mortgage.  Obviously he didn't know he was calling a business.  Regardless, I called the number back and the lady answered the phone "Advocates for Consumer Affairs"... I asked, what exactly do you guys do there and was asked to hold.  This guy comes on the phone asking how he can help, I asked what exactly do you guys do there... he said, first let me ask do you have a mortgage... I said what does me having a mortgage have to do with what you guys do... I'm not into games, CLICK!

Then I come on the web and try to research the company, and this was the only site I found.  You would think a company the advocates for consumers would train their salesman to be a little nicer and kinder to consumers they want to fight for.

Stay far, far away!!!

They say they can help with my mortgage and want me to send them personal identifying information. As I can find ABSOLUTELY nothing online about the advocates for consumer affairs online, this makes me very nervous. Does anyone know  ANYTHING about them and if they are reputable????? I would love their help, but would hate for my identity to be stolen! They say they are government-funded and won't charge me any money. Does anyone know a way to check on them? Seeing as how they're a government-funded agency, there ought to be a way..

Advocates for Consumer Affairs-I called back and they qualified me for their program which, I am led to beleive, is an attempt to save my home from Chase-it is in foreclosure due to illness. I hope they not only save it-but reduce my monthly payment of PITI to something more affordable since after two years of no income I have disability which I am grateful for but falls short of the expectations of many...I'm glad to be alive and since I am I still have need of the only home I've ever had....
