This Mark Smith is using a different number now. He texted me from a 347-354-8239 number. He sent me a text saying he was interested in my copied title and he wanted to pay 13,800 for it even though it was listed at 7500. Unfortunately he sent me the check and I received and when I found this website I texted him and told him to cancel the check and I wanted nothing to do with him. But I have the check so what now?

Got a text about a Craigslist ad asking if my "copied title" was still available.

Same thing. Wanted to buy my truck using PayPal. Said he was Mark Smith, in the Marines an at sea and was buying it for his uncle. I text him back the link to this page and he stopped texting me.

Mark Smith tried to purchase a real estate for $125,000!!!!! I am going to call the police immediately!

I received several texts from this guy wanting to buy my vehicle from Craig's list ad.  Never even asked about the car only wanted to do a deal using PayPal.  Very suspicious.  Likely scammer!!

We got one this morning with a different number but same story.  Marine buying for Uncle, wants to use Paypal.  So upsetting that this low life is using our men in uniform to scam people.

Yes definitely a scammer..I just received 3 text messages from this #  213-394-6340. Definitely a SCAM. I have received numerous text from various numbers, but they all say the same thing--exactly.
"Hello, Is this still available for sale? If yes get back to me immediately and my questions are: are you the first owner and what is your last asking price Thanks and hope to read from you soon"

Same story, Mark Smith a marine at sea buying for his uncle.  He responded to a big dollar item I had on craigslist.  He is in LA I am in NY.  Who pays $12000 for an item without looking at it first?  Wants to use paypal etc, A total scam.  I am a L.E.O.  he hasn't broken any laws yet by phishing for info, but if someone falls for the scam, that's fraud.  Stopped texting when I said I was a L.E.O.

I got a text this morning inquiring about a boat that we are selling. At first everything seemed okay but the longer that I talked to him, the more I realized that something wasn't right. First off, He said he was going to put more money in the account than what the boat was selling for so we could send the extra money through Western Union in California, and pay for the boat to be shipped. He said as soon as the money was in the account, he was going to send for someone to come get the boat so it could be shipped. I told him that I didn't want him to transfer the money, and he kept insisting. He then told me he was going to transfer the money, and get back to me later. I shut down the entire pay pal account, and haven't heard from him since. He also told me that he was a marine over seas and he was buying the boat for his uncle and the name he gave me was also Mark Smith. That was the first time that I've even attempted to used PayPal, and everyone that I talked to said it sounded like a scam, so needless to say... I won't be taking that route anymore.

Yea I am dealing with this mark smith too and he wants me to pay shipper1,400 before pay pal releases my the money to my account ,he says its a new security measure of paypaj in witch it is not.Now he knpws my address and says hes going to track me down. Ididnt pay.

He is a craigslist scammer. Stay away.

I got a text today about a bird that I am selling. I called the number and it says the google subscriber you have called is not available. I had no idea google has phone service.

I got a text from this guy this morning and before I texted back, I searched for him. Thanks for saving me the trouble of finding out he was a scam. I'm selling an item and 90% of the inquiries I get are scams. It's such a shame!

Wow, I'm SO glad I just plugged this person's phone number into the internet and this thread popped up.  I'd been texting back-and-forth with this person over the purchase of my sectional couch and things started sounding suspicious so I thought  - let me just see if there?s anything out there on the internet with this cell number and the name ?Mark Smith.?  
Within five minutes of posting an ad for a $1500 sectional couch (I?m guessing he goes for big ticket items), he texted me saying he needed to know ASAP if the couches were still available.  He went on to say he?s a Marine.  I googled just his area code at first and saw it was form the LA area.  There are no Marine Corps bases up that way so that was odd.  Then he started talking about using Pay Pal.  Not entirely normal but I thought I would roll with that one.  But then he talked about adding on $900USD to the cost for a pick up agent.  Seriously, who says ?USD? and ?pick up agent???  You're not even good at being a scam artist - you idiot!

Then something told me to call his number.  He didn?t pick up and it went straight to voice mail with no personal greeting.  At that point I googled Mark Smith? along with his entire cell phone number and this thread popped up.  I?m calling the internet fraud department of the San Diego police tomorrow.  Recommend you ALL do that ? let?s bring this low life down!!!!

Im getting the same messages. Be careful! Hes now using Paypal but with Paypal he can pay take the item and then Dispute it. Then he gets the money and the item! I really hate Craigslist and all the scams. Ya hes posing as a Marine.

Craigs list scam , once i told him my girlfriend works for the government , no calls back . Says he is a marine from LA . DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS SCAM ARTIST !!!!!! tell everyone .

This same guy has tried to get my address and name I didn't give them any true info and the person says his name is mark smith and he is from california, I use Craigslist alot and thought I would pass this info along, I don't know if this is a real name for the person or not but I am going to use the police station idea to get the person to leave me alone, I'll try and get his address as well if I can

Got a message from them also!  ANY number that contacts you and speaks very formal and offers to pay with a bank/cashiers check but NOT come look is a SCAM 100%  NO ONE speaks formally anymore. That's how you can tell its some scamming non-american! LOL

Same SCAM...text message. Now...why don't we ALL report this number to the police and they start tracking down this SCAMBAG?

I also had this number contact me about a Craigslist ad he is unwilling to use paypal and is requesting my address and name. I am glad this site is here and others have posted he has not made threats to me but I will report them to the police if he does.

This guy is a scam he txed me six months ago asking if my item was still for sale then he said he was gonna send a check for way over the amount and wanted me to send him the money back for the difference it sounded fish so i told him no he kept harrasing me and told me he was gonna assinate me and my family

I got the same text from a craigslist ad.  I have gotten them before from other area codes. I NEVER do anything with it except this time I text back and said....how would you like to pick up the item at the local police station. Haven't heard anything back...wonder why?? LOL
