This number represents a company selling security systems, the call was unsolicited and I am on the Do Not Call list.   I don't get it, why are these idiots allowed to call people?!   And you call the number back, it "is not in service".   Oh sure.

Called here around noon today. My phone number is PRIVATE and UNLISTED, which really pisses me off that I get unwanted calls from teleSTALKERS. I know a couple people in LA, so I picked up. Some idiot called "Steve" (complete with Indian accent) started on the "computer virus" scam. I said it's funny my computer has a virus since I don't own one in the first place (I do, but I wasn't going to let the scumbag criminal know). Long story short, a nearby air horn came in handy. Think I'll start using it more often on these invasive, annoying, and unwanted calls since the Do Not Call List is futile.

Caller ID said "Los Angeles" -- don't know who it was as I didn't answer.

Our answering machine received the call.  No message was left.

Answered and was silent. Free security system. Told guy to take my # out of their system. He asked me to repeat what I said 3 times & my tone was louder and louder. I cursed and hung up. Am sure they laughed @ me. Nxt time will just hang up or not answer.

The Panasonic's work great at blocking numbers.  It'll hold about 20 numbers.
Since these dirtbags change their numbers often, about once a month i clear out the old ones.
Some times I'll just hit the answer button and set the phone down...let them pay for it (I still have a land line at home)

Just received this call on my home phone and when I answered nothing but silence. After reading all the other posts I would love for Stephen to try and sell me a home security system... Invite his a** right on out to my house and have the cops here waiting for his a**. Tired of these jerks blowing my phone up.

I hate ATT (landline). They don't allow you to block any number unless it is local. Switched to cable and they allow you to block all these numbers but only give you 30 blocks. Unfortunately it's no where near enough these days! Need about 500...seriously!

Do not know anyone LA, so we did not answer and of course they did not leave a message. Gee, what a surprise. NOT. Thank goodness for Caller ID service.

We have Panasonic phones and they work great to block calls and certain numbers you want blocked. Even ones that do NOT show a phone number. I love it! The instructions are in the manual and easy to follow. Good Luck!

Telemarketing scams are the new email spams. You will receive many many more calls from many different numbers. The numbers and caller ID's are usually faked/spoof. The criminals will use another fake number tomorrow and then another the day after that and so forth. The best way to know it is a scam is by USING YOUR CALLER ID. It will always be out-of-calling area caller, a weird caller ID like wireless caller, or unknown caller. It will never be a legitimate 1800 number with a legitimate caller ID. Beware of those as well. Telemarketing scams are on the rise and YES the person on the other end know they are trying to scam you, which makes them criminal low-lives too. Criminals do not care about you nor the law.

These calls aren't going to stop! You will receive many more (worth repeating). Do not pick up. Do not bother pressing any buttons or wasting their time. They are criminals. Criminals do not care.

Never ever give out personal information over the phone. Never ever give out personal information over the phone. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Especially do not provide personal information over the phone to callers that CALL YOU.

You will not win anything! There is no lowering of your credit card interest rate, there is no home security, computer fix, auto warranty, no medical alert devices or free government money. There is no company just criminals looking to steal your identities and your hard earned money.

Warn the elderly and warn the gullible. Take the time to let others know.

Don't take the calls personally. A computer does all the work until you press a button. Then your call is forwarded to a criminal operator who attempts to steal your personal info. Don't be a victim. Do not provide any personal information over the phone and just ignore the calls. Never ever give personal information over the phone. Not full name. Not full address. Definitely do not give date of birth over the phone.  Definitely do not provide your social security number over the phone. And definitely do not provide financial information over the phone. Never ever send money to claim a prize (scammer claim you need to pay a shipping fee, taxes, and many other lies which are all bogus).

Beware of out of your calling area callers. Beware of weird caller ID's. And hang up on unwanted automated telemarketing calls and unsuspecting calls. Do not allow criminals to waste your time. Ignore their calls. Don't bother picking up!

Take the time to warn others, report the calls to the Do Not Call Registry or to your State's Do Not Call Registry. You can also report to your State Attorney General or Office of Consumer Affairs.

It has nothing to do with the Do Not Call List/Registry. Criminals do not care. Since when has a criminal cared about the law? These calls are criminal and the operators know they are illegal. All they want is your money and your identity. Do not provide personal information over the phone. Stop giving personal information, which includes name, address, family info, social, bank or credit card account information. Do not provide personal information over the phone.

These calls will continue, criminals do not care! Don't take it personally, a computer auto dials from a list of applicable numbers. Do not press a button, there is NO opt out. Any telemarketing call you receive that is automated is illegal, even if they are live calls, if you are on the DNC list it is illegal. Yet again, criminals do not care.

All the call signs are similar, always out of area, ALWAYS "Unknown Name," always recorded, always press a button, always home security, lower interest rate, medical alert device, fix computer, auto warranty or some fake charity. Always, always they will call YOU!!!! Always an out of area number usually from California or New York, but generally never local. Always an unknown name and Unrecognizable number. Always!!!! Don't even bother picking up and wasting your time! Never provide personal information over the phone.

Report the calls, warn others, and beware.

Received call from 213-416-7565, which was listed as Unknown Name, at 3:36PM.  The caller hung up just as my machine picked up, leaving the dial tone blaring until I picked up the phone and hung it up again.  Quite annoying.

This is a recorded call from a fairly slick Independent Voice Response (IVR) system. It introduced itself as Steven told a story about home robberies and began asking questions about my home alarm system. When I replied with nonsensical answers it would ask for clarification or move on. When I got tired of this nonsense and answered with a vulgarity, it said it understood and hung up. Obviously, being on the "Do Not Call List" is worthless.

Got a call on a Sat morning at 7am.  Who calls that early on a weekend?  ID showed LA, Calif.  They left  no message.

Just gotta call man said " Hi this is steven im calling to updatr your land lines. I said " Get Lost" and hung up! So tired of these idiots calling me.

Had this same call this evening. I did not answer and let the answering machine pick it up. No message left so assume it must be a telemarker.

CID identified as Los Angeles, CA to my 818 landline. Left no message. Added to my blocked list. I don't answer numbers I do not know. No message = added to my blocked list. My blocked list is getting pretty big!

I have the entire 213 area code blocked on my Digitone Call Blocker due to many nuisance calls from this area code so call couldn't come through.

Same old scam. New number.

I got a call from the above number.    I tried to ask something and realized that it was a recording.
The automated call then just hung up.    I am so sick and tired ot these tele marketers.  Another
company called "card services" - enter the privicy of my home 2 or 3 times a week.  I stay on the line to talk to hem and hey just hang up.       They need to outlaw these kinds of calls.

Same as offensive incidents reported above.  Wonderful people, aren't they?

A lot of "unknown" calls coming in, many reflecting California and/or New York but they could be 'spoofed' telephone numbers.  

Any of you have Target Red Card accounts that could have been compromised months ago? I did.  This many be the identity thieves coming..............
