Received two calls from 213-443-4467 within fifteen minutes of each other.  Heavily accent Indian man called requesting SSN number, bank name and account information.  Said he was from Equifax Credit I think accent was making it hard to understand him.

Placed him on hold while I looked up the  telephone number.

Read some comments.  He hung up while I was researching the number.

He tried to convince me his call was legitimate after I told him I knew it was not a legitimate business call. Also told him he would not receive any personal information from me nor anyone in our company. Since I knew who he was not I would report his telephone number to the FCC.  Also told him not to call here again.

Approximately ten minutes later he called again. I told him no personal information would be given to him that the telephone number he had called had been turned over to the FCC.  Not to call here again, his call would never be transferred to anyone.  The whole time he was talking trying to be put through to someone.

I hung up on him after telling him each time he called again he would be hung up on.

So far he has not called  back.  Tuesday is probably another business day for him.

I tried to verify this number was indeed Equifax and could not do so.

Got a call from 2134434467 asking for verbal permission to relase information from chase on car loan. Spoke with my lender. He said call is legit. Since its a third party company outsorced to India I could barely understand the person who called.

Of course, the post above me could be one of the scam artists, so i am not going to blindly trust an anonymous poster. This number called me today and i told him i was not doing anything with him until i speak with MY lender to see if it is legit. He gave me the number 888-263-9876. I googled that and it also shows up shady. Waiting to hear back from my lender.

The number is from a call center for Equifax Mortgage Services.  They are a company that provide tri-merged credit reports to businesses.  I work for a large bank/mortgage lender and they are the vendor we use to obtain credit reports.  They normally will call you when a lender has requested an update to an account on your report (i.e. a collection that still shows outstanding but you indicate is paid, an account that hasn't reported for several years but still shows a balance, etc.).  They are not attempting to obtain your personal information for fraudulent purposes, only to assist your lender in making an informed credit decision.
Obviously, I didn't recognize the number when they contacted me to clarify what I needed on a report - that is how I happened upon this site!

I received a similar call.  I called my bank and the company refinancing my loan and both were not aware.

Same as the others here, a woman with a thick accent calling from Equifax needing to verify my banking info as part of a mortgage application. They had my lender's name correct, but wanted to verify info from a bank I haven't used in over 13 years. Gave her some fake info just for fun.

The callers from this number ARE NOT from Equifax or any other legitimate company.  Remember people, never EVER give a SS# or account numbers to anyone that calls you.  EVER.  If some loser calls and asks to verify information tell them to keep better records.  Ask them the information.  It's a numbers game to them.  Perhaps 5 percent of Americans have a mortgage through B of America so if they make enough calls, they are bound to find someone gullible enough.  Sadly, by looking at a few other whocallsme sites, it looks as if some people have already fallen victim.

Really?  Equifax?  nice try.

It just happened yesterday, after I got into the refinacing process. Same situation here, wierd accent, asking questions about bank accounts, wanted to set up a conference call with bank. Very suspiciuos!!!!

I also received a call from this number saying that they needed to verify some information and were going to conference in my bank. The accent was very thick, I could hardly understand him. He said the same things as were said to many of the people on this page, and the number on caller id said equifax. The information they were trying to get from me was over a mortgage that was taken care of over 4 months ago! Very shady, do not trust this number!

i got a phone call from this number 213-443-4467. i dont know who called me but it said something about verifying my bank account. It asked me to place my social security and other private info. no idea who the person is but i hung up because i dont have a back account and im only a student in highschool....

Another experience similar to the others posted here.  I could understand very little of what the caller said and hung up on her immediately.  Very suspicious...

This number is from EQUIFAX, they just called to verify my Student Loan deferment for a mortgage application through Bank of America.

This woman with an accent called 1/3/11 saying that they needed my authorization to release credit info for a loan. She said she would call back in 15 minutes but never did. Thing is, my bank already has the info they need and don't know anything about this phone call.  The number on my caller id is not valid.

I work for a company who has someone from this # calling in and try to get into people's account with information that you all speak of that they ask for and the scary part is that they get into people's accounts all the time and we can not do anything about it because they are authorized. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE OUT SENSITIVE INFORMATION!!! Remember that no one that has this information should ever call you and request this information unless you have spoek with them early and are expecting a call back. If it ever sounds fishy hang up and call the company that they say they are from back and to verify they are legit. PLEASE PROTECT YOUR INFO!!!

Received a call from this number 1 day after my credit was pulled due to a refinance. Neither the new or current mortgage holder is Equifax. The man on the line wanted to verify something, I could not understand anything he was saying due to his accent. Sounds shady to me.

After trying to refinance my home mortgage we received a call from this number about verifying our bank account and other important information.  They said that the mortgage company requested the information but after speaking with my refinancing mortgage company they said they did send a request but it was all taken care of on their end.  They then advised me to NOT give out or allow this information to be transported to them.  I was even on a conference call with the bank and had a conference the agent for the company then advised me the information they were requesting bank account verification, account activity at the bank, account numbers, personal social security numbers.  The agent at the bank was hesitant and made it clear what would happen if we released this information to just anyone over the phone. The gentlemen with a thick accent gave me another 800 number to call and they do answer and it was an equifax number and he gave me a reference number for the account.  But I called the number back he contacted me from and it was said to be a wireless number and wasn't available and never went to voicemail.  Be weary of this number!

I had two calls from the above # one at 10:17 a.m. and the second call was at 11:52 a.m. Caller asked me to verify my husband bank account #. She had tick accent and couldn?t understand her. She also wanted me to verify my husband social security #.  She called back and said that she is verifying my bank account and put me on hold for long time, and then I hug up.
