Got a text yesterday from sms23108@sms-directexpress.net asking me to contact them at213-769-4077.  The message states Client SMS Notice - DirectExpress.  I have not called or texted, and decided to look up the name and number first.  What people won't stop at to scam someone, huh?

Got pretty much the same text message mentioned above. Didn't bother calling. If it's a "credit card" company calling, this is bogus. I don't associate my cell number with my credit cards.

Same here.. just got the text.  I'm going to go to my carrier (Sprint)'s site and block that number... if possible. :oS

Just a "word to the wise".  NEVER give any credit card or personal information out over the phone/to anyone who asks.  Ask what the company is, and tell them you will call them back. FIND THE NUMBER YOURSELF, don't call a number they give you.

If it's a company you actually have an account with (credit card company) you can call them directly and check to see if it's a valid call.  I've had "real" calls from credit card companies (offering something), and I told them this, and, of course, they were fine with me calling back.  I never give any part of my info/identification to people who call.  If they're LEGIT, they wont have any issue with you calling them back/directly.  BE SAFE.

If it's a collection agency, you can still call the original company (credit card, loan company) and they will tell you if it's gone to collections and what number to call.

They're good at confusing people and bullying you out of giving information. Even info that SEEMS harmless, it can be used against you.  Especially if you give out a few info here, and some there... they keep track.

I didn't get a phone call, I got a TEXT msg. from this number, 213/769-4077. Said it was an 'alert msg.,' and to call them. The problem is, the card it referenced has a different customer service number, which I know by heart. That leads me to believe they got hacked and the perpetrators are phising, to see how many people call or text them back.

I also just got a text message from sms27692@sms-directexpress.net that said " (sms-notice) Client SMS NOTICE - Direct-Express Alert. Contact 1-213 769 4077." I received 2 calls from an 888-827-9262 number and when I looked that up it was linked to some type of phishing scam that also wanted credit card numbers. The company was called ABC financial. Not sure if it's the same company but the 888 number is very similar to the sms27692 that I received the text message from. I haven't called nor talked to anyone. The people commenting about the 888 number also say it has to do with gym fees by those who cancel gym services... another part of the scam. However, I know after we cancelled my husband's gym service, it was paid in full. They say that this number calls people even if they don't have a gym service to try to get your credit card information, while those who previously had a service & cancelled, they are trying to get your new credit card information so they can keep charging you. Again, I don't know if that 888 number is connected or not, but I thought it was worth mentioning. All of these details came from looking the 888 number up & both this site & that info seem to say the same thing... they want credit card info.

I just got the same message! I responded with STOP. But I'm not sure if this will spur them on, if it's the same company who has been harassing myself and my family. Doesn't matter to them that I am on the DNC.

Text received 2/11/2012 at 5:20 p.m.;
"HSBC Message. All cards are locked.  Please call 2137694077 to re-activate your card."

This appears to be a hoax to try to get credit card information, as I do not have an HSBC card.

Hoaxer's should do some research first.
