Another sleazy way to try and scam money for so called charities.  They call with recordings or if they call and ask for a certain person and I ask who is calling, they demand to know WHO I am. First I am the one answer the phone asking a legit question and asking nicely.  When they get rude and act like I am a teenager (I am 39 with a younger sounding voice) then I lose my patience.

Whatever charity they are calling for will NEVER have another donation due to them using questionable companies to do their dirty work for them.  I wonder anymore how they can ever get donations from people with their nastiness.

BTW, I will NEVER ever donate to the Fraternal Order of the Police, the Trooper Association or whatEVER names they go by for their continues harassment over the years and yelling at my elderly mother when she said no she can't afford to donate.  The guy was so rude and was like wait until something happens to you.  Hey you jack______ she was dealing with a terminally ill husband and unable to donate.  All her monies were paying medical, mortgage and feeding herself.  Wait when your in hell for your nastiness.  I got curses out by one their callers as I told him "Listen I have asked that our number being taken off over 30 times in the last year, STOP calling us with new numbers"  Nice how thee C_______ word and t he B_____________ word are used by your people calling my house DEMANDING donations.  Your organizations can rot.  I'll donate to local charities and I donate to my local law enforcement because I have a brother in law enforcement.  He has said your a scam and the monies donated go to fill the pockets of your organization which is separate from any law enforcement agency.  Same for the Firefighters.  So rot and stop calling.

I live in Maryland and got a call that said Local call but the number was 213-784-5840 which I knew was out of state..  It was a man who identified himself as a fireman who talked about checking smoke detector's to see if they were functioning.  I told him we had the detector but that's when he said he was a fundraiser for volunteer fireman to help pay for their supplies, etc.  I then told him his call came up as a local call but long distance number and told him I didn't know who he was so I wasn't about to give him any monies.  He understood and apologized, which I was surprised he said that.

"Local call?" Area code 213 is 1,200 miles from me.

Fact 1 - The DNC list CLEARLY does not work, everyone should knows this by know!
Fact 2 - Filing a complaint with the FCC does not work, a total waste of time; done that.
Fact 3 - Having an unlisted phone will not help you.
Fact 4 - Asking/begging telemarketers to take you off their call list does not work!
Fact 5 - No "class action" suits are filed and certainly, this is not a remedy.   Many of these telemarketers are in other countries and out of the jurisdiction of the USA.
Fact 6 ?Complaining to the BBB is a corrupt organization that sells their ratings to the highest bidder.

Uniden and Panasonic make CALL BLOCKING telephones.  They?re cheap - $40-$60 and they usually come with a 2nd wireless handset, and they work beautifully!  These phones also block ?PRIVATE?, ?OUT OF AREA? and "UNKNOWN" calls!!!
Some phone companies offer a *60, a 20 number call block feature.

Knew my name.  Asked for donation. I said I don't contribute to telephone callers.  Had a well-written spiel as to how money would be spent, with no pauses for me to say NO THANKS.  Asked for $20 and I declined then $15 and I declined again;  finally said 'maybe another time' and hung up.

received at various time over that past  few month, charity requests from this number.  They are always different charities, but same number.  The problem is they are very aggressive and rude and I end up hanging up on them now for fear of them trying to quilt me into a donation.  

How do I get them to stop as they are very rude, pushy and aggressive.  I am in no position this year to donate money and I have asked them to stop calling.

They called 11:05, Jan 7, 2012 and it said "local call" on the ID.  After I hung up I realized it the same number that keeps calling for different charities.

Called after 9 pm and before 8 am. If it were legit and professional this would not have happened. Most likely a scam to collect hard working people's money. May the law find and strangle you.

Call received @ 6:36 PM EST from this number. Caller ID read "Local Call," which of course is a complete load of rubbish as I'm in the Northeast. Thankfully, they did not leave a message.

Just called...same here the ID says "LOCAL CALL" which is garbage since 213 is nowhere near me. Did not leave message.

Have asked several times to be placed on the do not call list but these people don't seem to care. Asked for money for police charity and was unsure about the charity they were raising money for. SCAM!

got a call on the weekend from "LOCAL CALL."
Returning the call takes you to a recording for the "Fundraising Information Center" where you can leave your number to be called back by a representative (sounds like they represent several charities).

The caller said he represented a FIREFIGHTER'S organization (forgot the exact name), and said he'd call back at a better time (to reach the person I said was unavailable).

It is a Fund Raising org for a childrens group. I called the number back.

Got a call from 2137845840 with same "Local Caller"ID,  although I'm 1500 miles from LA.  Blocking the number.

A call from 213 784-5840 came today with the I.D. of "Local Caller."  How BS is that???

We started getting calls from los angeles and I block them.Today we are getting more calls from a different number 2137845840, also out of la and it too is now blocked. I called the police and also filed complaint with the fcc.we dont know anyone in california.its probably a scam
