I am a victim of identity theft,,,someone got a tax refund under my name and ss#....makes me wonder what this is all about!

I received the following text message on my cell (9173653326)" SUNTRUST NOTICE" Please call (6466884771). I called the number and it stated that my debit card had been locked and I needed to provide my account number to remove the block.  I did not provide any information. I discontinued the call and contacted Suntrust to inform them of this situation.

received this message for my sons phone.  Man named Jim answered phone.  Wouldn't tell me anything else. Told him I was blocking his #.  Same # as above.

I have received multiple texts from this number requesting action to unlock/re-activate my Suntrust debit card as well and never had an account with suntrust. I've even text back asking to stop and remove my number and they replied with another text with the same verbiage... Landline out of California but it could be a trunk line....further investigation needed.

However, ironically I had just made a withdrawal from my Suntrust acct w/in an hour of receiving this SMS to my WORK cell phone.. It completely freaked me out.. so I made the call, thinking it was because of my recent withdrawal.. However with the "verification questions" to "unblock the acct, it was very clear that it was definitely a SCAM.. Thankfully I had the fortitude to call Suntrust and verify whether or not my acct had been blocked.. So with that said, to be on the safe side I had them cancel existing cards and send new one.. I definitely know better than to fall for the ole "okey doke".. Damn Scammers!!! Argh!!

I work for SunTrust these are scam texts.  You can email - emailabuse@suntrust.com to report them to SunTrust.  For those that do bank with us we will never text, email or call you asking for information.

05/01/12   (4:15 pm EST)  got text message From: [Unverified-Sender] (9178729657) S.U.N.T.R.U.S.T Notice Please call 213-799-0779. Goggled the 917 number-located in New York... then goggled the call back number 213-799-0779 which is in L.A. California. I do not deal with SunTrust bank first of all. I did try to call 917 number back not valid number,,, going to my Verizon account and place these two numbers on block list. I suggest everyone else do the same.

I called SunTrust customer service. They have received multiple calls about this scam and have reported it to the FBI, along with both of those numbers.

I just received a text as well which reads, "S.U.N.T.R.U.S.T Notice.
Please Call 213 799 0779".  What's up with this crap???!!!

Called SunTrust... they've just gotten multiple calls about it and have already reported it to the FBI. My daughter got the same message, Alan and Joe Z. Glad she's smart enough to recognize a scam and forwarded it to me.

Got same text message.  I did not call them back.  My guess they are pfishing for back account numbers.T8R3

Got the txt also..not calling the number back, Googled first. What next? I'm going Amish...

I got the same thing as the person above, with the S.U.N.T.R.U.S.T. initials in the message, but it said the text message originated from an unknown number and then gave the number 9176779126 before the message

me too - how do report these loser to someone who will do something about it?  there is a big cost to the time wasted...  they are not only losers but CRIMINALS.  They are trying to steal our card info.  Federal Crime...  FBI?

I have recieved multiple text messages from 213-799-0779 identifying as Suntrust locked debit card.  This is my business phone issued by Nextel to The City of Charlotte.  How do I block them?

same here too - except my daughter and I share a suntrust account..but i could tell it was a scam (1) it came late at night (2) 2 diff phone #'s and (3) the way that suntrust was spelled. Report the incoming number to the do not call registry.

I got the same message, to call another number deleted it but how do you block the number?

I have no SunTrust acct

got text message saying S.U.N.T.R.U.S.T.  Notice. Please call 213 799 0779. The number i got the text from was 917-358-3559. I tried to call it but it rings and rings and then stops. I tried calling the 213 number and it tells me that my debit card is locked. We have no account with Suntrust. I'm pissed because they are wasting my texts! There is no way to block the number on my phone. :0(
