man claims he's a police officer with North Carolina sheriffs Dept.Call back number is 2137990972 and told my boss he was investigating me.Have already verified he's not a police officer

Called saying it was about a "Social Security" issue.

Man called left message stating that he was Officer Sean Peterson with Financial Crimes Investigation Headquarters and that I needed to call back before it was too late for me. Said that there was a financial crime with my name and social security number.  He called eleven times every hour on the hour almost.

stated that it was important and for me or my attorney to call for it is tie sensitive.  Gave the name of Michael Johnson 213-799-0972.  Calls every few minutes on a any given day.

Called from 971-005-5934 at 9:20 this morning on my work phone.  Indian man left voicemail stating he was Officer Sean Peterson from the Financial Crimes Investigation and that there was a legal case with my social security number on it. He said to call back 213-799-0972 immediately and if I don't "Good luck and have a nice day".  I am so tired of these scammers.  They last called on September 30 from a different number and now they are back.  I refuse to pick up the phone when I see these idiots calling because one time I made that mistake and they we very threatening and after I told them I owed them nothing, the idiot called back every minute for 20 minutes.  I have no outstanding loans whatsoever. These people need to be stopped.

Same name false phone trace, claiming he is calling as something to do with accidents from a phone number in Manchester, England. Complains that your accent is difficult to hear... as Asian racist?

The indentified heavy accent idiot has been calling my job stating that i am being sued. he does not state by whom or why. i work at a federal facility. He can be arrested for fraud.

A long time ago, I did business with a loan company based in Nevada. Due to
some hardship, I was unable to pay them (the loan was for $300.00) over 2-3 years ago. I received my first call from this same Indian gentleman, who said he was a "Mr. James" and says I owed at least $1200.00 in late fees to
settle out of court. (This was in Sept. 2008). Thinking this was legitimate, because he had my social.
security number and knew the dates of my loan. I made payments to this company in installments, totaling over $1200.00, with transaction fees from
a debit card.  They gave me confirmation numbers for each transaction, but
I have yet to get the documentation, that shows that I paid this collection company (for the original loan company), that I paid them in full, plus fees.

I called the 213-799-0972 in the past, and have spoke to someone. When I made the final payment, I was told that they would mail the documents to my address. (They had my old mailing address, which tells me that this company was probably based in Nevada). But, I gave them my recent po box address and it has now been the "3rd" week and I still have not received any documents. I do believe I did owe money to the original loan company, but I did not like the way they contacted me, with threats of "going to jail" or
sue me for over $8000, (for a 300-500 loan, at that!). Because I may have lost my money in this, I wanted to know is there a way to locate companies like this, so they can be sued for such illegal practices. I, in good faith,
wanted to pay any fees owed to the original company, but did not think that I owed $1200. It should have been more like $500 at most. I know this was probably not wise to pay them anything, but some calls are sometimes legitimate, but their tactics are very underhanded. Any info from other consumers, would help on how to handle these callers. Thank you for reading my message.

These people keep calling my work number.  They have a strong indian accent and say I owe money on a payday loan.  Claims to be a David Cook.  When I ask for paperwork they get really angry and start yelling.  They say I had the paperwork.  If I owe the money fine I will pay it back but there has been too many scammers calling and I have checked with an attorney and he says it is a scam.  He said they have to provide you with paperwork and it will be the local authorities that deliver it and they can not have you arrested or taken to jail.  They need to be stopped or they will end up getting us fired for calling our work numbers all the time.

Received a call from this number, caller ID came up "out of area" so I didn't answer (figuring it was them).  They left a message that was so rude and obnoxious I can't believe it!  The person was very hard to understand, sounded Indian as noted above, and threatened me with arrest (which of course is ILLEGAL) and ended the call by saying that if I don't comply with their demands, I "won't be able to celebrate Christmas, I promise."  It is unbelieveable how desperate these people are!  I have received calls from many different numbers, all with the same Indian-sounding voices, same demands, same threats, over the last few months.  I have reported them to my state's Attorney General's office and am awaiting what they plan to do.  These people are scam artists, they have gotten our phone numbers from OLD payday loan companies, and are just trying to squeeze money out of innocent people!  YOU DON'T OWE THEM ANYTHING!  Do not talk to these people.  Listen carefully to their message and note the call-back phone number they give, report them to your state's attorney general's office, the FCC, local police.  Most importantly, come to 800notes.com and record your experience so that others can see that they aren't alone.  If we fight back, hopefully they will eventually go away.  THEY CANNOT HAVE ANYONE ARRESTED, REMEMBER THAT!

Have received numerous calls from # 213-799-0972 and a 971 area code number also. He speaks in an Indian voice and said that his name was Michael Johnson and he is a collection agent with United Federal Bank and that I owe a bill. I have never heard of United Federal Bank before nore have I done business with them. They call and threaten all the time every 20 to 30 minutes. I did speak with him in detail today and he said that I could pay the amount owed all he needed was my credit or debit card info. If you agree to settle it out of court they are very nice and go thru the spill of how to pay for it and then once you ask them to send you validation of the debit they get really nasty again.

Indian man identified himself as Officer Robert White and that he needed to immediately speak with an employee as he was from the Crime Investigations Unit.  When we attempted to call him back at this number we received Muzak recording and then cut out.  This cannot and should not happen as this gentleman has called us several times.  We are a NYS Prison and this needs to stop.
