I was contacted 16 times yesterday by none other than "James Goodman" with his thick middle eastern accent claiming I WON 8 MILLION DOLLARS!!!........And a Merecedes-Benz that would be parked in my driveway tomorrow,,,, if I go to my nearest Walmart, CVS, or Walgreens and purchase a Money Pak Scratch Card for $500, then it went to $200, then $100, and when I said I couldn't do that he said $20!  LMFAO!!  He also mentioned that the FBI and US Marshalls have my prize to try and make himself sound legit.  He even said he was legit, like I was supposed to take his word for it..  Don't fall for this crap!  Don't give any money or info over the phone!!!

Contact Western Union and get your money back. That is what i did. Also contact your local Attorney General's office and file a compliant. Also i called the state they call from the police department...and they assured me that i twas a scam and that i wouldn't be facing any criminal charges.

They are now using Bureau of Criminal Investigations...just so you know! They called me from 518-478-6454

i got a call  from this number 12537850820, state that i own this company national payday loan, i never got any money from this company. they call my house scare my children saying that go to jail from me that day. i was scare so i give only a 100 dallor that day. theni look on line for this company and found out this is a scam. i feel very stupid that was my bills money. the attrnoy they say was baker and mckinncy i didnt found any company, so write to let people watch out for these poeple.

Same thing happened to my husband yesterday only it was from 856-823-0398. Original caller was Shaun Noble with an Indian Accent. I spoke with David Watson, same guy, thick indian accent. Talks really fast so you can't grab everything he's saying. They insisted that my husband owed money and asked for my first name. I wouldn't give them this info. Said he owed a payday loan and would be filing suit tomorrow and to contact a criminal attorney and good luck as the police would be at our house to pick him up. The thing about it is, there's only 1 payday loan we have defaulted on and that one was operating fraudulently in Minnesota as you should not be able to roll over a payday loan here. When our bank account closed, they stopped getting money. We only borrowed 300.00 and I actually paid 150.00 of the principal back so they were collecting $45.00 in interest every 2 weeks for about a year. I've paid that loan off as far as I'm concerned. I made the mistake of telling this guy about it and he wanted $248.00 in two payments one yesterday and one on Friday. These guys called about 4 or 5 months ago and tried to pull the same thing but I knew I didn't have any outstanding payday loans at that point so I told him he was scammer and come serve us with papers and hung up. No one ever showed up. When this happened yesterday, I had forgotten what happened several months ago. I was frazzled and almost blew it and gave him some money. Only this time, he's not asking for your debit/credit card info, he's asking you to go to your nearest Walgreens or CVS and get a Green Dot Money pak scratch card. That's what made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. I called him back and let him know that I would need some paperwork validating the debt before he got any money. He said that there was no time. I told him I thought this was a scam and he said that I could not talk to him that way. I told him that he wasn't getting any money and he could come serve us. Guess what? No phone calls back or anything so far. Don't fall for these guys. They are just out to get your money and have found a way to get some of your personal information off of the web.

Yes it is a SCAM....do not send any money to this individual. He has a very heavy Indian accent and will tell you that if you don't send money you will be sued or arrested. He will get rude with you and keep calling you back to back. Don't fall for this it is a SCAM. It's a shame how people take up your time with craziness.

I get the same calls all the time..very irritating. They started back calling me last week. I just started telliing them that they have the wrong number then they start asking are you sure maam? Im like hell yea dont know her and hang up. The last number that called me was 2132609139 and its scammers because i never took out any loans and i dont owe anything. They just keep trying me.

I had a payday loan with a payday loan company a few months back. I didn't pay it off right away like I should have. I had someone call me stating that they would settle my payday loan with a certain amount of money. I thought I was talking to the payday loan company but all along I was talking to someone of fradulent use. I ended up giving these people my bank information thinking I was paying the payday loan company. I got ripped off with these people and had to get the bank involved. To make a long story short the payday loan company had no idea who was calling me. They said they have no one collecting on their behalf. I got taken. I ended up paying the payday loan in full but I will never take out another payday loan for as long as I live. Somehow these scam artist can hack into the payday loan companies and get your personal information. I went through a nightmare with these scam individuals calling me all the time saying I owe them money and are taking me to court.....SCAM! And the sad thing about it is the scam company sent me paperwork stating that the loan was paid in full (no such company existed) When I called the payday loan company this is when they told me that they have no such company working on their behalf in collecting money; at this time I knew I had be HAD!!!!! Do not send any money or give out banking information unless you know who you are actually speaking with. Do your homework.....DO NOT TAKE OUT ANY PAYDAY LOANS...IT'S NOT LIKE IT USE TO BE YEARS AGO.

They have several bounce numbers.  I've seen them on another website as well but I can't recall the website right now.

They leave a threatening message on my answering machine for my husband.  They also called two uncles of his and threatened them and said he was at the center of a "fraud investigation" which is ABSOLUTELY NOT true.  They told his uncles that their "brother" was being investigated so although they have a large amount of information it's not always accurate, they are probably getting it from Spokeo.com or one of those sites.  Both uncles refused them any information and called me right away.  My husband does not owe any money to these people whoever they are and it is definitely a scam.

I am posting here today because even though I realize it's a scam and have dealt with it in my husband's case, I work professionally in finance and wanted to give some information out with regards to the "Fair Credit Reporting Act".

Under the "Fair Credit Reporting Act" these collectors if that's what they are, are operating highly illegally.

1. They can NOT threaten to jail you.  There is no such thing as debtor's prison anymore.  If you owe  on a bad check the company you wrote the check to can take you to small claims court and seek a judgement but you receive a notice from the court prior to that.  If it's enough to be a felony in your state you would hear from local law enforcement when they showed up at your door to actually arrest you and NOT some heavily accented unknown person.

2. They are required by law to divulge in ANY communication that they are "attempting to collect a debt and any information gained will be used for that purpose".  If they don't they can be sued.  That includes the threatening messages left on your answering machine.

3. They can not release any information regarding your debt or you to ANYONE other than yourself without written authorization from YOU, that includes family members.

4. You have the right to request a copy of ANY debt you owe in writing and they are required to provide it within 30 days.  If they refuse to do so they are again in violation of the law and can be sued.

5. If you actually owe a debt to a company the collection agency is required by law to send you notice via USPS telling you what you owe, what charges are being added and why, e.g. collection costs, and give you 30 days to dispute the validity of the debt.

If these people call you, write down everything they say word for word, call whoever you might owe money to and read the conversation back verbatim and then turn it over to your local law enforcement.  The way this company or companies as the case may be are working is illegal in several different ways and could actually invalidate any actual debt owed by you.  If you owe money, pay it to whoever you owe it to and be done with it, but do make sure they understand what the collection agency they hired is doing because I guarantee you if they get enough complaints they will realize they are at risk of their debt being invalidated and of a potential lawsuit and they'll stop using them.

I got a call from number 213-928-3062 telling me they were going to take me to court and I would be arrested if I didn't pay them seven hundred and something dollars. They told me that I could send it via western union with a Quick collect form to cafefone NY. I'm not sure if this is fraud but I am assuming it is and I'm not going to pay.

I received a call on my cell phone today from a man claiming to be with a law firm - thick accent, who I couldn't understand - claiming that I owe money on a loan from 2010 and I would be arrested if I didn't pay $601.  I never took out a loan in 2010--which is how I knew he was lying.  Scarey part of the call was that he read off my SS # and my current address, etc.

He refused to tell me the name of this loan company he "represents", he refused to send me any paperwork.  When I asked the name of his law firm, he first said LLC Law Firm, then said Orleans LLC Law Firm New York 12401 - neither of which I could find online.

He called from tel # 585-331-8619.  I let him go on long enough to give me the Western Union info:

Hello Shari.  I have been getting calls like this for about a year.  They are threatening to take me to court if I don't come up with absorbent amounts of money to pay a payday loan.  I admit that I took out a lot of pay day loans in 2009.  I could not pay them all, so I closed my bank account.  Since then, they have come back at me hard with paying back the money.  I have paid so many of these loans back and I feel like I have paid them all.  When they call, they threaten me and I feel so afraid, that I scrape up the money to pay them.  I had not been keeping up with the payday loans that I didn't pay, as I felt that if I didn't pay them their demand, that they were actually going to come and arrest me.  I do know that I have paid several of them and know that I've paid them all.  I even made payment arrangements to some of them and have paid them off.  What do you think I should do?  I don't have any money to send them, and when I did pay them, they always said that they would send me paperwork notifying me that I have paid the loans off in full.  I never got any paperwork in the mail.  Please give me some advice, as I am desperate.  Thanks.

Today i received a call from this number 2532421212 . The guy call my job and they called me.
   the guy say i have a court day for tomorrow which is march 2, 2011 for a loan from quick cash that i never get.. He have all my information, He say the loan is for $300 and i have to pay $3991 to the court, but if i send $501 before the end of the day to Cafefone Account #295687599, N.Y and fax a copy of the rec from western union to # 14086081652, by the end of the day i will ge going to jai for 9 months.
Who can i talk to about this? Who can help people like us?

I get these calls all the time.  Sounds like its an overseas call with a bad connection.  Man or woman with a heavy accent is always calling.  They read the same script to me with the exact same verbage.  At times I have called the number back to find out its a number not in service.  I am thinking about having my number changed.  They are threatening to file a lawsuit or to file paperwork at the courthouse (although they don't specify which one) and that I am in default on some loan but the details are never clear nor have I ever received anything in writing.  They refuse to put anything in writing. They just threaten me with legal action.  When I demand something in writing, they always tell me its too late. I stupidly paid them once now the calls are coming in non-stop which led me to believe its all a scam.  They call several times daily.  Its extremely unnerving, not to mention a huge scam.  The Western Union address is cafefone and the numbers come from 510, 954, and other area codes.  They use American names like Johnson, Jones, etc.  Once they told me when I called I owed $536 and the second time they called, they said $600.  They can't even get the amounts straight.  Always or just about always a different person calling.

Got call from David Watson at Cafefone from 954 area code. Said I owed 750.00 on a payday loan. if I didn't make 150.00 payment every other month by Western Union they were going to sue me for 5000.00 to $ 6000.00. Called me constantly at work and on my cell phone. Has alot of my personal info. Would not give me any info related to money owed--name of co., phone # etc.  Said he worked in legal dept but would not give me name. Called Western Union consumer fraud--said Cafefone not affiliated with them and to not send money. SCAM!!!!!! Called Attorney General Consumer Fraud Dept told them everything---also said SCAM!!!!!Do not send money!!!!!!  Watch out for these people. Constantly calls from various area codes and numbers. Has heavy Indian accent, lots of noise in background, line very hollow sounding like international or somthing.
