I have been receiving calls for the last 2 days from this number. He even called my parents' house. When i try to call the number it doesn't work. Anyway, the first was a message at on my voicemail at work threatening that i owe a payday loan that i defaulted on and if i did not pay $750 that the police would come to my house at a certain time and arrest me and my references that i listed. while i do have a payday loan, i contacted the company to see if this person was indeed representing them. they said it was illegal to use such tactics. when i asked the caller what company he represented, he gave me NBS and the website was debtcurevolution.com. well the numbers on the website were no good either. i wasn't sure where, how this individual obtained my information, but it scared me to the point that i was willing to make the payment. anyway, i am not sure how much information this person has, but i alerted my bank and my bank issued me another debit card and they automatically contact me for transactions that seem suspicious.

Thanks to all of you for sharing your stories. I believe I have finally gotten rid of this caller. I too asked for any binding contract I signed with their client after they refused to give me the original creditors name and phone number. Anyway, they told me that they would attach the contract to my warrant papers and i would receive them when i'm arrested. i informed Mr. "Gary Miller" that his tactics were illegal and told him to contact my attorney. Boy he really got mad then. so he transferred me to his supervisor and i told him that my bank wouldn't process a payment from overseas(where they are located) he then asked me if i would go to Walmart and by a prepaid visa card and make then payment that way, and i simply told him, "I REBUKE THE HAND OF THE ENEMY IN JESUS NAME, I BIND YOU AND LOOSE YOU BACK TO THE PITS OF HELL WHERE YOU CAME FROM!" Boy he too got really angry and told me to deal with the court and hung up in my face. i hate to be long but i have to tell you all this. I do have a past due loan with thinkcash.com, the reason i am saying that is because Mr. Miller said the creditor he was collecting for was one i applied with on quickpaydaylaon.com. so i went to the website and noticed that thinkcash.com was one of the companies listed. so i contacted them and the lady and i asked the lady by chance had she heard of any other customers being harassed by these people and she told me yes and she told me the stories were all the same.

A message was left on the switchboard phone for me. This Ryan person left a very nasty message that was heard by others prior to being forwarded to me.  Let me tell you all something.....about 9 months ago I heard from some of these people saying I owed 750 dollars or they were coming to my house to take me to jail...I was so afraid.  A big part of me felt like they could not do this but I was frightened by how cruel they spoke and how determined they were, that I paid the 750 dollars....Later I was told by a lawyer they cannot do that...it is illegal for them to call and harrass like this.  Especially when you don't really owe them anything...HOWEVER, even if you are deliquent on a payday loan, this is NOT the process used to collect their money....NEVER,NEVER let them think you are afraid, never give them money or any information...you tell them that you have reported them to you local law enforcement and the FBI and every number they use to call you on and every name they give is bing reported...AND DO REPORT IT....these are criminal actitivities.....do not fall victim to them....

I recieved the same call much like the other people.  It was a man with an indian accent claming to be named "ryan".  He said it was in regards to a payday loan of which i have no recolection of.  He told me that i had to be in court the very next day or "legal officers" would come to my house to arrest me and everyone there.  I then asked to speak to his manager which happened to be another indian guy telling me the same thing, but he wanted 4500 dollars from me which included court cost and lawyer fees.  My girlfriend who was listening the whole time became quite angry.  Took the phone from me and asked them where i had to be in court and what time.  He hung up on her twice and hasnt called back.  I alerted the attorney general and the FBI.  I believe this is a scam.  Please beware of this number

Persons calle me on my cell and at work.  I was told to send a letter with payment infomation.  I called an attorney who informed me that is should fax a letter stating it was in voilation for a federal law called the fair debt collection act.  I was told to tell them if the insisted on calling my place of work that I would sue them to the fullest extent of the law. I also stated I wanted to know where this bill is coming from and any outstanding bills I have I have made contact with those companies and none of them use a third party collection like them.  I asked for a document stating where the original charge came from how much it was for along with their company name and phone number.  I faxed this letter to santana's attention and got a call from him at work stating he didnt appreciate the tone of the letter and he would not call me anymore at work but would make sure he contacted my boss and would not have a job anymore. What is puzzling to me is how they got my information they also contacted a friend of mine stated if I didnt pay the amount (which has changed from 350-750) that she would go to jail. By the way when I called and aske for a name and phone of the company they hung up on me
This in not a legitmate collection agency but a scam beware.

I got the same call at work. A man with what sounded like a fake Indian voice knew my first and last name. When my co-worker paged me I quickly wanted to know who it was. He wanted to know how to spell my name and started to ask other questions. I didn't answer, but kept asking who this person was. He said he would tell me after I answer his questions. I hung up.
He called back and my boss tried to take a message to see who it was. He said he was an attorney, and I was in a lot of trouble. My manager finally got his so called name and number.
When I got home, I checked my voice mail and found a message from him as well.
I am wondering how he got my place of work and home number. This guy had the balls to tell my manager at work that police officers would come to work to arrest me if he didn't get me on the phone. I am thankful my boss was not fooled by this guy, It could have made my work situation very awkward. These "bottom feeder" scammers need to be stopped.

I got one of these calls.  I'm filing a report with the Illinois State Attorney General.

The number on the caller ID wasn't this number, but rather a number to another business that is fully accredited and rated "A" by the BBB.  I spoke with their Operations Mgr. and he is also going to file a report in his state using some of the legwork I've provided.

In the span of 30 minutes I have had three calls.  One call that didn't go through because neither I nor the caller could understand one another.  One that went straight to voicemail on my cell and a third call which was nothing more than a 2nd attempt to reach me at work.

The collection tactics being used here are illegal.  You can likely make money off of these people.  Report them.  $1,000 fine per incident!!!

I received this call today & the person left a voicemail. I could barely understand the guy, all he said was that his name was Justin and there was an important legal matter to discuss and if I or my attorney did not contact him back immediately I would be arrested.

I received this same call about a year ago...called them back, I tried to get info from them and they wouldn't give me any. They threatened me and my children & I told them I would be contacting my local law enforcement agency. The guy hung up and I never heard from them again until now.

Well I received 2 phone calls from the 213-992-0684 number.  I didn't answer it but I called it back.  I asked for information and he wouldn't give it to me.  Had a very bad accent.  I think it was Nigerian.  He told me his name was Gary Miller.  I told him...it couldn't be, that is an American Name and you definetly not an American.  This agravated him a bit and he started to rant and rave and I new for sure this was a fraud.  He apparently did not have a caller I.D. because he kept asking for my phone number, which I wouldn't give him.  He then called back 2 days later and of course I didn't answer.  The same exact message was left..."if you don't return my call, I wish you luck as the situation unfolds on you...."

I've had this call twice.  The first time they told me that either my attorney or I needed to get back to them right away.  The second voicemail told me I had 3 criminal complaints against me and if I did not return thier call I would be arrested.  I called them back and asked for Ryen.  They have my work address, my SS, my home address, everything.  He told me I was in 3 hit and runs, one of which was 4 hours ago and that I had court on Monday.  I told them that it was impossible, because I was at the hospital all day.  He then asked me why I was there.  I told him it was none of his business.  He then asked me if I was pregnate.  I told him that was a very personal question and I wanted to speak to his supervisor.  He then said "well I didn't get you pregnate, I haven't even F***ed you yet!"  Then the supervisor got on the phone.  His name was Joe.  I told them that if they contacted me again I would file harassment charges.

I received a similar phone call. The number on my cell appeared as 02.  When I listened to the voicemail he stated that my friend was being sued over a legal matter and that I was her reference.  He actually had my friends first and last name correct!  He stated that she and I would be charged for all legal fees and that I could be picked up at any time for questioning.  He strongly demanded that I return his call at (213)992-0684 or I would face consequences!  In very poor english I might add.  I called back more than once and the call never went through.  I am furious!  Who are these people and how the heck do they get our information?

Got the same call....called my work number and told them they had a legal matter to discuss with me.  I called them back and advised them that the conversation was being taped.  I could barely hear with all the back ground noise....I spoke to a guy named Ryen, that's how he spelled it. I asked him who he represented he said Cash loans.  I've never heard of them, however have done cash loans on line that have all been paid in full.  He had my home address and work address, creepy!  Told me that someone would be here at my house to arrest me on Monday.  I told him, "Okay, I'll be waiting ".  These same people contacted me and a friend about 6 months ago, they called repeatedly, then stopped.  I guess their back!

The number is in the name of a global international company. I reported to the company that they are using their name for their phone numbers. I'm hoping that since the large company, Global *something* sorry I left it at work, but it could be since they are a communications company can track them down. I reported it to their slamming dept and their crime department. I received the scam phone message on 2/10 and called them numerous times today and did not receive any response other than screaming and yelling at me. They will not disclose any information of their address, correct phone number and fax number. They call themselves Cyber Crime Unit and Quick Payday. I didn't know about reporting them to my attorney general here in Minnesota, but I will.

Consumer Alert: Attorney General warns Kansans of debt collection scam

January 29, 2010 -- Attorney General Steve Six is cautioning Kansas consumers about telephone calls from apparent fake debt collectors who are impersonating law enforcement officers in an effort to extort money from consumers.   Consumers are warned to not submit payments to these fraudulent debt collectors.

When calling, the scammers most often state they are attempting to collect a debt related to an internet payday loan obtained by the consumer, but which the consumer never repaid.  Consumers state they have never obtained such a loan or paid off the loan years ago.  The scam artists have most recently identified themselves as ACS, National Affidavit Processing Department and United Financial Crime Division, but may use additional phony names.  It appears the phone numbers used by the scammers are ?spoofed? numbers, so that the number appearing on a consumer?s caller ID is not the actual number of where the call originated. It appears the calls in question may be originating from outside the United States.

When questioned, the individual calling refuses to disclose the full name or address of the collection agency they claim to represent.  These scammers have been able to provide consumers with identifying information, such as the consumer?s social security number, home address, e-mail address, names of family members and the consumer?s computer IP address.  Since the callers are able to provide valid personal information, consumers may become confused and believe they are being contacted in regard to a legitimate debt.

If the initial debt collection scam is unsuccessful, consumers have been re-contacted months later with the scammers posing as law enforcement officers or officers of the court.  Typically, the consumer is threatened with arrest for fraud or some other fictitious crime unless the consumer agrees to immediately wire money via Western Union.  The fictitious officers strive to frighten and confuse consumers into compliance by using legal sounding terms such as ?We?re filing an affidavit against you? or by stating a lawsuit has been or is in the process of being filed against the consumer.

A hallmark of each scam has been calling consumers repeatedly at their place of employment.  This scam hit home when an employee of the Kansas Attorney General?s Office was repeatedly called both on her cell phone and at work.  Despite the employee?s repeated verbal disputes, the caller refused to provide any identifying information to allow her to send a written dispute. The scammer also continued to call her numerous times a day regarding a payday loan she denied obtaining. Two months later, she was again contacted by telephone by an individual identifying himself as an ?officer?.

?I denied owing the debt and refused to pay without being provided validation of the debt. I was then told, ?If that?s the case, I will have local law enforcement come to your place of business and drag you out kicking and screaming?,? stated the employee.

?It is important for consumers to know their rights under the law,? Attorney General Six said. ?If a consumer is receiving calls from a debt collection company and believe it is a scam, I encourage them to contact our office immediately.?

Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), collectors are required to send consumers a written notice within five days of the initial contact.  The notification should contain  information such as the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed and a statement informing the consumer they have thirty days to contact the debtor in writing to dispute the debt or request validation of the debt. In addition, legitimate debt collectors are prohibited by the FDCPA from making false or misleading representations, such as the consumer has committed a crime, implying nonpayment will result in the consumer?s arrest, or using the threat of violence.

More information is available on the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf.
