This gentleman who could not speak english very well ( he had an indian accent and was difficult to understand) He told us that he was calling from the Microsoft Office and that we had an "error" problem with our computer that he could help us with.... a problem with outlook express - that an anti-virus system would not fix... he called himself "Blake Xavier" from Ridgewood, NJ - and he wanted us to call him today by 7pm at 214 329-9692 - he gave us this number verbally since we do not have caller ID. Beware... he sounded a like a scammer. We are not calling him back. Blessings to you and your family.

Yes. Everything that JacobS said... this time though, the thick East Indian accent having person identified himself as "David Jackson". I tried joking with him... saying, ok, what is your real name- but he insisted. I then said, "no offense but you have a really thick accent..." I could handle the David part... but "Jackson". Please!

Same story as earlier posts here. This time his name was Shawn Watson. Doesn't he ever call someone who could actually shut him down?

Caller ID said "Unknown Caller", but I answered anyway - same story as Jacob, except he said his name was Shawn Watson. I acted concerned and said I would have to have my computer person call him back and he gave me the 214-329-9692 #. What I didn't tell "Shawn" was that I already know this is a scam and that my computer person is in the fraud and security department.

Similar to earlier posts: heavy accent, said I had problem with malware on internet connection affecting all computers, said name was Ronnie Cooper.

How did they get my phone number?

We have Norton 360: do we need to add any other spyware or malware detection?

Just got a call from a man with a heavy accent, could be from India I am guessing.
Telling me he was from Microsoft Windows and my computer was about to crash.
I asked him for his phone# and I promptly hung up. It was same as listed above.
SCAM. Not hard to figure out. Hope no one is fooled by this obvious scam. They will be ripped off in all ways from how I see it.

This is a scam! They call themselves Microsoft Technical Support department, although my Caller ID showed only "Out of ares". They supposedly learned that my computer was infected and offered to fix the problem if I perform a few operations under their guidance.
Being a software engineer myself I new very well what they were up to, but I pretended to be worried about the infection and had a small conversation with them.
I asked who I am talking to, where they are located and what is their phone number, as I don't see it on my caller ID. A person with a heavy accent said his name was Rick Wilson (!), they are located in New Jersey and gave me this number. (in fact, it is Dallas area code).
I called them back and indeed got connected to the same "Rick Wilson"! (I could not believe the con artists would give their real number). I asked him whether they are affiliated withf Microsoft Corporation; "Rick" assured me they are. I asked him a few more questions, which proved to me they know nothing my Windows system (which I did not register - it was issued by my company) or about me, except my name and phone number (probably from the public record). I still pretended to be interested in their help and asked for their instructions. He wanted, basically, to allow me to take over my computer. I told him I had problems understanding his accent and asked for the manager. "Rick" said he was the manager and there was nobody higher than he.
After that I reached a Microsoft representative (it took about 30 minutes) and informed. He confirmed that it was a fraud, they never call their customers etc. I gave him the scammer s' phone number, which he took without any enthusiasm. He recommended me to register with "Don't call" directory. Frankly, I did not expect any effective actions from Microsoft (:
I reported the fraud to stopfraud.gov (although I did not expect them to be any more efficient than Microsoft) and than, just for fun, call "Rick" again. I told him that I talked to Microsoft and report to fraud fighting unit. "Rick" said "Eh... Eh... Thank you.." and hung up.

Caller from India impersonating a Microsoft technician and wanting you to install his virus protection software to extract malicious software from your machine that he claims your operating system reported to microsoft. First of all, I don't believe  Microsoft gives my information to any third party and I did not give any information to them but can we do anything about this company? They claim to be in NJ.

I received a call from a person claiming to be a technician from Microsoft in New Jersey. My caller id identified the number they called from as Tops Market - 585-335-4717. This is a New York number. When I told the caller that I didn't believe he was from MS, he told me to call 214-329-9642 and ask for Rick Wilson. I asked whether I could I find these so-called instructions on the MS technet site & they insisted that I just needed to be in front of my computer so they could walk me through the steps. I told them that I wasn't in front of my computer & hung up.

Same as above.  Caller appears to have multiple names- this time he was Ronnie Cooper (with a heavy accent).  Said he worked for Microsoft.  He said my computer was about to crash momentarily-I had just received a reference number to return my computer under warranty for repair.  At first I thought is was related to that.  Obvious scammer who wants to sell his program (pretends it will prevent hackers) and obvious hacker himself.

I have received several phone calls from a person with an indian accent who represented himself as a microsoft tech. I asked that he give his phone number since it was showing "unknown" in the callers ID. So he gave 214 329 9692 and then I asked for his name and he gave the name "Jack Wilson" The last time I heard of Jack Wilson, he did not have an accent. Microsoft should do something about this.

Received a call from someone from Microsoft named Ron Nelson.  He said he was at the New Jersey branch and had me to to Microsoft.com and type in sb3inc, which brings up a MS branch in NJ.  I asked to call him back because I didn't think he was from Microsoft and he gave me the number 214 329-9692.  I put him on hold, called the number and just got a generic message saying to leave a message at blah blah number.  When I went back to the line, he was gone.  Must be a scam.

more or less the same thing.  they have been calling for some time, comes in as private 1 call. I ask where they were located and was told New Jersy, but the phone was Dallas tx.  his name was Watson. outside the # nothing, I could use to help when call was rported. This person was from India, too.    There were a lot of calls being made in the background, and he really didn't want to give out info. That is always a red flag!!!!

I knew this was a scam from the start.  MS would never call to ask for info like that.  I tried to play along to gather info. He said his name was Robin Smith, with a microsoft employee number of 860053.  They are located in Sun City, but hung up when I asked for a street address.
