Got a call from 214-638-8928, it was someone soliciting donations for the police. He is very pushy and abrasive.  Tries to guilt you into donating.  Just hang up.

Someone called me from 214-638-8928. I didn't catch the guy's name but he stated he was with the Fraternal Order of Police, said he was going to send me a couple stickers for my car to show my support for officers fallen in the line of duty and asked if I was ok pledging a certain amount. I told him I donate regularly to local police and fire organizations and I like to know who I'm donating to and where my money goes, but I don't know anything about him or his organization. He asked since I donate to other organizations if that was keeping me from donating today. I told him no, not knowing who he was or where the money goes was keeping me from donating today. I told him if he'd like to e-mail me some information I'd be happy to look his organization up and might donate. He then tried to lay a guilt trip on me, pretty aggressively, asking "you do support officers fallen in the line of duty, don't you?" I told him of course I do, but I don't donate to just anyone. He gave up and told me to have a nice week and hung up on me.

I would have thought he could have offered some info about what local departments his organization supports, where the money goes, etc. if he was actually legitimate. Pretty sure he was just a scam artist though.

Don't let someone bully you into donating over the phone - know where your money goes and don't feel guilty about telling someone no. They should be able to point you to some information to prove who they are and what they do so you can be sure you're actually donating to a good cause, not just someone's bank account.

Got a second call from Bob Campo - Stating he represents the "Sherrif's" organization. I am an anesthesiologist and had a patient currently asleep (yes, I answered the phone, because he called the emergency anesthesia phone and it is my job to handle emergencies). Nonetheless, when I told him that I currently had a patient under my care, he stated "God bless you sir and I hope you never need us" - I thought of replying that if he ever needed me, it would be a very bad day for him, but that wouldn't be nice, would it?  Scam.  Just a scam, I say. the phone read "SW PR" and the number was "214-638-8928"
