I also have recieved numerous hang up calls from this number, also without any message. when i called that number, they answered ' the trenton times'. i advised them that i was filing complaints with both the PA and NJ State Attorney Generals Office.

Are these the same people that panhandle when we're stopped at red traffic lights in dangerous and otherwise busy intersections?  I think that, particularly, should be against the law.  That said, i am on the do not call list and have reported this number to them and can not wait for them to be fined.

By now everyone on this board knows the scammer uses various names, the latest is a Bank like Bank of America or Wells Fargo which has a good probabilty of getting through to you. The Fire Fighters Chartible Foundation scams for donations and KEEPS 100% of the donations. Reminds me of a boiler room set up for the bogus Sherriffs  Association. They had a contract with a local Sherriff to pay the remainder after expenses. There was no remainder! They left town before the Sherriff could catch them.

My Caller ID just shows Philadelphia, PA.  Got two calls today, first when I tried to answer, the person hung up.  Second, I missed call and no message was left.  Called the number back and they said they were some type of newspaper/publication.  There was so much back ground noise I didn't catch the name.  However I warned them not to call again...this is the second time I have told them this...I also am on the dnc registry.  Definitely sounded like a solicitation call from the background noise I could hear.

I have a cure for people ignoring the Do Not Call list or being exempt and bugging me for surveys, votes or money - having my landline turned off and going to cell where I don't answer except for the 2 numbers I want calls from. End of this BS.

If I want to donate to help firefighters I'll walk down to the nearby fire station and donate time or write them a direct check. I am so f***ing sick of this telephone ing crap. Number is in my block list now.

Sometimes the 'no answer' when you say hello is an indicator that they are canned fundraising calls.  The dialer is a computer from a database, and when you answer it routes the call to a human to take over.  So it is a dead give-away.  So you could always just hang up on the delay . . . BUT (there is always a but) it usually means that your phone number is in a database that has been sold, so expect MULTIPLE calls from MULTIPLE fundraisers until you take the time to answer it, speak to a rep, and specifically request to be removed from the database.  When I do it, I let them do their rote speech to waste their time, then I tell them my request.  I also get the caller's name, and all the info needed to submit to my state Attorney General's call complaint website.  They claim to be non-profit, when less than 10% actually goes to the organization they represent, majority of their funds go to more fund raising.  Sadly these calls come mostly in the spring.

I just got the same call today. No one answered when I said "hello".

Have rec'd 5 calls in the last three days from this number - they never leave a msg.  If they don't leave a msg, it can't be that important, right?  Caller ID now is "Wells Fargo".

501 c 3's are tax- deductable duh. I used to work for a place that called for this organization. This message board is full of people just speculating. I will say this though. This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation. I have called the number.  It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the foundation. Also, there?s information on www.ffcf.org, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
This Foundation is doing a lot of really great things for Fire Fighters nationwide and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good. The foundation helps with funding for volunteer fire departments, toward first aid and fire prevention education as well as other outreach programs.

I do NOT answer calls from numbers I don't recognize.  I DO look  the numbers up, out of curiosity.  The ONE recurring complaint that I see on sites like this is that people receiving these calls are on the DO NOT CALL list and they get their panties in a bunch and threaten to file complaints with a government agency.  Please read the following:
Being on the DO NOT CALL list means that TELEMARKETERS are not allowed to call you.  Others, including surveyors, pollsters, charitable organizations and those with a current or previous "business relationship" with you ARE allowed to call you.  Clarification:  Being on the DO NOT CALL list does NOT mean that you won't get calls from people/organizations you don't recognize or don't want to talk to.
If you STILL don't get it, go to the DO NOT CALL list website and read it for yourself.  YOU WILL STILL GET UNWANTED CALLS EVEN IF YOU ARE ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST.
Good luck and just do what I do:  Don't answer the call.  YOU pay for your phone, so YOU decide if and when you want to answer.

It's the Firefighters Charitable something-or-other. DIdn't get to talk with a person, although I'm sure that's what they wanted when they called me.

I left a message about how I didn't appreciate receiving a call, (me) answering the phone and then no one being on the other end.  Their automated answering gave me the option of being on their no-call list.

It's REALLY annoying to get a call, answer the phone (even though I don't recognize the number) and there is NO ONE there!!!!

I only say 'hello' once - this usually means dead silence on the other end, then I'm glad to hang up.

I thought I was on the do not call list....apparently that doesn't work anymore.     This call came today 215-383-5595 and my caller ID identified them as FFCF, they left no message.

Call came in at 5;15 pm caller ID was FFCF, hung up when I answered.

Received a call from this number today at 4:45 PM.  Voice identified as being with the Fire Fighter Fund.  Advised that the call was being recorded.  Advised them I do not take calls that are recorded.  Humg up.   Individual contined to talk for over a minute (kept picking up phone to check) and finally they finished and disconnected.

Caller ID said "FFCF" and they did not leave message on answering machine. My number has been on the fed. government "Do Not Call" registry for over a year and yet I am getting repeat unwanted calls from this company. I googled their website ffcf.org and found this link to a charity rating website:

The page at the above link shows that in 2007 (latest year with data available, apparently) FFCF spent over 100% of the money collected on its own operating expenses! I.e., they GAVE NO MONEY to anyone and instead spent it all on themselves.

If your phone is not yet on the Do Not Call registry, you can put it on the list at donotcall.gov  You have to wait 31 days after putting it on the registry before you can file a complaint about an unwanted call. Filing a single complaint doesn't (apparently) trigger any legal action against a company, but if enough people file complaints perhaps the authorities will be motivated to investigate.

Received call from same number. Came up as FFCF. Funny you should say WellsFargo because I've not been answering their calls.  Already spoke to them once. No need repeating myself. What do they think we're stupid! Also they left no message.
