He said he was from the Fire Fighters.  He just started talking and wouldn't shut up or let you get a word in at all.  He asked for donations.  I finally was able to ask where he was calling from.  He said Utah.  Area code 215 isn't a Utah area code.  It is a Philadelphia, PA area code.  I said I would not donate as I didn't know if he was legitimately calling for the fire fighters and also if I was going to donate to the fire fighters, I would donage to my own local fire fighters.  Then he started rambling on, non-stop again, so I just hung up on him.  Don't know if he was legit or not.  He certainly got on my last nerve.

Got two calls from this number on my caller ID several minutes ago. .  I didn't answer.  Googled the number and found this comment. Thanks.

I also received a call from this number today, and did not answer. The caller ID just said "FFCF".

FFCF is the Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation.  They are calling all over and if you say you are a firefighter they hang up on you.  Google FFCF 215-383-5676 and scroll down to the entry =station 247.org= to get a little background.  The FFCF also has a website.  Google FFCF.  As it says in the station 247 note, only 10% of the funds they raise go towards 'the cause'.  The other 90%  goes to fundraising costs and administrative expenses.  There are many other avenues to help fire victims and fire departments.  If you want to nip the call in the bud, tell them you are a firefighter.  I'm a retired fire fighter and when I started asking questions they said they had a bad conection and hung up.

these guys have called about 10 times in the last couple weeks asking for money or asking about smoke detectors as a REAL firefighter this pisses me off more than you can believe

This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation. I have called the number.  It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the foundation. Also, there?s information on www.ffcf.org, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
This Foundation is doing a lot of really great things for Fire Fighters nationwide and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good. The foundation helps with funding for volunteer fire departments, toward first aid and fire prevention education as well as other outreach programs.

I did a GOOGLE search and found the "Firefighters Charitable Foundation".
Perhaps this it the FFCF in your caller ID.  They have a web site at http://ffcf.org that you can check out.

I don't accept telephone solicitations for any reason.  If they wish for me to consider a donation they need to contact me via US MAIL.  Should I choose to give a donation I will reply by US MAIL.

This way, should the requester turn out to be fraudulent, the crime isn't simply fraud, but US MAIL FRAUD and carries a far greater penalty should the requester be convicted.  Have you ever wondered why scammers prefer using the phone to commit fraud and why they ignore the Do Not Call list?
