Called about my resume then tried to sell me a business this is a scam

Got call from this number from Rabecca Rivers.  I did not call back but was loud noise in background like boiler room.  I live in LA.  They got the number from Monster.com or similar.

Got a call today from Rebecca Rivers at 215-525-2977.  When I called her back and asked her the name of her company, she wouldn't answer me.  She kept trying to ask me if I had a resume posted on a job board.  When I kept pressing her for the name of her company and its owner, she slammed the phone down.  Obviously, "Rebecca Rivers" or whatever her real name is, and her company are not even remotely legitimate.

So somebody applies for a job and you try to get them in a franchise scam, err I mean scheme, huh?  What does the franchise do -- cold calls unsuspecting job applicants to sell them something (violation of the DNC)?  Do they have to fail some intelligence test to qualify for this "opportunity"?  Like you apparently did "Richard"?

I receieved the same called by Rebecca Rivers and its actually a firm that helps you become a buisness owner thru a franchise they  work with several companies that are franchise consultants ...Am proud to say that am working with the firm great people and great opportunity...no regrets

there's no doubt about it, this is a scam.  And, thank you intelligent people for recognizing the fact that any call from the 215 area code in relation to a job should be scrutinized!  I called after seeing your comments, and was informed, "This is Rebecca..."  After I gave her my name, she asked, "Are you only looking for a job or a business opportunity?".  I told her, "a job of course".  She was in a hurry to get off the phone, however, I managed to inform her, "BTW you should know your scam is all over the Internet".  Good job people!  This economic situation is hard enough, I too am sick of the predators!

It's funny how most of you people think and say it's a scam when you haven't actually talk to this girl and dont know what she's calling to talk about ...no wonder you guys don't have a job yet for being so ignorant and not taking the time just to listen to what she has to say...i mean does it really bother you for someone to acutally call you about you resume....you guys out there should really actually thank this girl for taking your resume's in consideration even tho is not for a job ...If you still think is a scam you must be retarded! I got a call and actually talked to the girl, not sure if it was Rebecca or not.  She said she saw my resume on monster.com and asked if I was only looking for a job or if I was interested in business ownership possibilities.  I told her I was only looking for a job at this time, she said OK, good luck on your job search and have a nice day.  No big deal.  As always, buyer beware.  At least it wasn't high pressure or harassing.

Got a call from Rebecca Rivers from same number in this thread. Said she saw my resume on monster. She asked me was I interested in a business opportunity. On average most conversations where the person doesn't start out by telling you who, what company are normally scams. Ended it quick. Annoying at best especially when so much other is going on with a job search.

Call from someone (don't remember their name), calling about my resume I had posted on Monster.com. I was about to sit down to dinner and asked her to call back in 30 min. but she didn't. How do you know it's a scam when none of you seemed to have talked to her? Why is it you did not expect calls from what may be headhunters when you have publicly posted a resume or profile on a job search site?

got a call from Rebecca, called her back to request who she was and what company she represented that I "supposedly" sent my resume to.  I got her voicemail with noisy background.  If she calls back will post an update with what company she claims to represent.

What a pain. Little did I know that becoming unemployed and doing what my government expects of me in order to claim unemployment benefits would result in a$$hole companies annoying the hell out me.

After reading this I couldnt help but call back!  I got Rebecca Rivers voicemail.  Her VM had a loud background with lots of other people chatting.  I really think it is a cold call as I just updated my resume on monster.com a few days ago.

Same thing. Got a call - said they saw my resume on a "job search site". I had just posted it about 5 days ago. No area code I sent any resumes out to so I checked it out here. Sounds like a cold calling scam. It was from Rebecca Rivers 215-525-2977

I just got this same voicemail. Funny thing was, the woman who left the message didn't even have my right name.

I too got a phone message from Rebecca Rivers (something about resume on a job search web site).
Anywho's reverse lookup gave no ID; Intelius's reverse lookup was no hit on land line but did hit on cell, not worthwhile to pay to find out more.
Seems fishy... thanks for the head's up and for this site.

Just received a call from a "Herbert" saying he saw resume on Monster and wanted to talk to me. Return number he gave - 215-525-2977 - a scame per earlier posts

Got a call from a Rebecca Rivers at 215 525 2977.  I didn't call back but did go to reverse phone lookup and found this.  Thanks for the scam notice!

Got a voicemail from 215-525-2977 stating they were replying to my resume posted on monster.com

A shaddy operation that! Don't get scammed.
