Just had Mr. Russo call me about a hospital bill. He told me that he was sending my hospital bill to the credit companies. I said' Thank you very much. That will save me the time of having to do it myself". Then I told him to "Go for it". He said rudely "Good luck with your credit in the future". I said "I dont need luck, Im awesome" and hung up on him. He's fun. I may call him back tomorrow just to chat. haha!

once you agree to pay them, it totally changes the date from the Original debt collection date, and makes it current.  There is a statute of limitations by State your in on collectiong debts (debts collectors know this) and eventually the debt goes away (or is suppose to).  So the debt takes on a new dates, becareful when you agree to payments miss one, they got ya.

The lady who called said her name was Kiara , she said was calling me in regards to a new benefit from my health insurance. My health insurance calls me from numbers that I recognize. I looked it up, it is a collection agency. I only owe one bill other than my home. I wonder if they are con artist who get your name and try to get you to pay old bills you owe that they have fabricated.

I received several calls from this number.  The company's name is Select Financial.  They are a debt collector.  The message that they left on my voicemail was quite rude.  That they knew that I had ignored the call (I did because I don't answer numbers that I don't know)  and that I needed to call them back immediately because of pending legal action.  I called them back and told them I saved the voicemail and that if they ever leave a VM like that again that they would have pending legal action.  I then hung up on Bob Winters.

I don't know who this is that wants me to call them back with a case number.  They sounded like they were trying to be intimidating and I better call them back if I know what's good for me, lol.  I call-foward these calls back to thier own number.  Then they can harass themselves.

I also have been receiving these same calls from a Robert Russo. I just spoke with him and never raised my voice and try to explain the debt they are collecting was incorrect and an insurance issue. He yelled Nd was so rude, even got personal. He's an a***ole and must be held accountable for his actions and the companies. Not sure what I will do yet but can't let them get away with this.

Select Financial called me about a bill from when I was in the hospital back in 2010. At the time, I was put on Medicaid and was told everything from the ambulance to the doctors would be covered. Apparently they tried to claim I owed them money for the doctor, which I was told when I singed  the paperwork I didn't have to. I'm disabled on a fixed income, so I told her I can't pay it and refuse to. She became really snarky and rude and I told her that I know my rights and how the Medicaid system works and if she wants to start crap, Just add it to my credit report. She slammed the phone down and that was that. Why should I pay for something that's already paid off? Also I know if I never did business with a collection agency, I shouldn't be getting these calls by law. Reporting it to the Do Not Call list as soon as I can.

I am sorry for the calls your getting...They have not right. You didn't buy anything from them, you didn't hire them for anything, You owe THEM nothing....I don't know what state your in, BUT you do have rights, from this. I keep getting the same calls from a person named Russo. I won't call him a man, as he doesn't deserve that. He leaves very threatening messages. Contact the FTC...and your BBB, and file a complaint against them. Tell him to give you a address, and send them a "certified" letter so you have proof, and tell them to "CEASE Calling"  They MUST abide, or YOU have a legit lawsuit against these ruthless scummy human beings.

This thread is full of reports of hostile skip tracing. Let's be clear now that the rogue collection agency already knows perfectly well how to directly contact its alleged debtors, but chooses not to. Pestering "near-bys", employers, and anyone the targeted person has ever breathed upon, is an extortionist tactic meant to create false shame and anxiety, thus prompt a swift payment to end the pain.

Verbal demands to "quit calling" will never stick with thugs like these. To a ''not me'' case I always recommend putting the agency on notice, just as you would if you were the target and the debt claim was invalid. Send a cease-comm notice via USPS Certified with return card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft one. This will set a legal landmine, as such a notice is ignored at their peril. This can also help pull the agency under the shadow of TCPA, which carries treble damages for ''willful'' violation.

Third parties to the alleged debtor don't get a lot of coverage by FDCPA, but it does say ''any person'' cannot be abused or misled by a collector. Cursing and threats are a cause of legal action no matter if you owe something or the supposed debtor is a stranger.

Learn how to exercise your FDCPA rights as an alleged debtor at FTC-dot-gov.

The person's story sounds like a "not me" case, in which a brief cease-comm letter should be a sufficient response. Seeking validation is indeed the correct move if one is less sure, but your reading of the FDCPA requirements is severely flawed. The "30 day rule" is one that a lot of people get goofed up for some reason.

First off, a verbal demand for "proof", meaning debt validation, is useless. Wait for the federally required dunning letter and reply in kind, on real paper. It should have mandated language, the "mini Miranda", saying that the *alleged debtor* has 30 days to respond with a dispute.

Once in receipt of a timely dispute, the collection agency cannot make a peep about that account until the validation demand is satisfied. Then same letter may also restrict or prohibit all future phone calls. Meanwhile, collectors have no obligation or time limit to provide validation. They can, and many do, simply walk away once the account requires actual work.

It's all right here if you don't take my word:
http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpajump.shtm

I believe only Texas law forces an agency to validate. It's a good idea to consult your state laws in any case for anything which trumps federal.

The nasty rep was not disciplined and would never be fired. In fact, she was praised and probably earned bonuses. The hostile tactics are standard procedure among rogue junk debt collectors. Usually their mind games are illegal practices one can sue over, as a few in this thread have already hinted.

The false moral outrage is an act this phone bully had to learn. After a time, collectors start to believe this narrative the boss teaches, that everyone they call is a thieving liar and deserving of abuse.

I have NEVER been so agitated by a collection agent before but this one today defies all others.  She is looking for my husband's ex-wife.  Out of principle there is NO WAY that I would ever divulge her whereabouts because this mother #&*! lady was beyond rude.  Good luck Select.  I will do whatever I can to make sure you all NEVER find her nor get a &*%$ penny and believe me...she is low on our favorite person's list but you all make her look like a saint worth protecting.  Great job of running a business.  Impressive.  Job well done.

Have received several automated voice mails on my work phone from this company for someone who is not employed here.  After getting tired of all the voice mails, I finally answered the call for the last 3 times they've called in the last 3 weeks.  Each time telling these people there that this is a company phone, there is no one here by the name they are looking for and to take our number off their list.  The first lady I spoke with said she would.  The last two calls were from the same douche-bag man who told me I was lying and I better put this guy they are looking for on the phone, he was rude and yelling at me.  After raising my own voice to match his, I told him I'd do him one better, thankfully we're a large enough corporation that I'd refer him to our legal department who will be filing harassment charges against him and his company for continuing to harass me at my workplace.  Went down to legal gave our guy all the information and they were already dialing their number as I was walking away.  Good luck morons!

I have been receiving calls from this number for a few months at least once a day. They never leave a message and when you answer there is an automated message that gives you an 800 number to call back and a case number. I got a call today and called them back at this number (2158817757), was put on hold 3 times before talking to a very nice guy who I told the situation to. He said my number was listed to some man named Frederico. They took my number off the list.
