I keep getting calls rom this number. It's "Roy". He doesn't know the details when questioned but threatened that I would be arrested. When I kept questioning, he put me on hold to transfer me to an "attorney". Interesting was I never went on hold and could hear him pushing various numbers on the phone before another guy got on the phone with an accent. He insisted on reading an affidavit in which it mentions "after numerous attempts to contact you by e-mail" etc. I couldn't understand who he said filed it. He finally told it was US Cash. I told him I had worked for attorneys and know that anyone collecting money owed would send notices through US mail not e-mail. He tried to confirm my e-mail address - one I've only recently created. I suggested he stop calling or I would be contacting my attorney.  I hung up. He called and left a message. Unbelievable!

I received a voicemail at my office last week from a gentleman with Indian accents who we could barely understand, but it said something about it being very important that I get back with him. Well I received a call today and he tried to tell me the same thing he told yall. First it was a gentleman who said he was calling about a lawsuit against me and I told him i was never served with anything. He said he would transfer me to the Paralegal department and I got another man with the same accent. He threatened me with jail time, 30 days, saying that CashNetUSA didn't think that I would pay back the debt. When I listed off the amounts and dates paid on my debt, including the final payment that was about to come out this week, he tried to tell me those were finance charges. I told him that he did realize he was calling a law firm, right? I asked who they worked for and he said Slater and White Associates. I asked him to fax me documentation and he got angry saying obviously I didn't want to take care of this so he would send the police to pick me up at my place of employment. I laughed and told him good luck with that, sweetie. I talked to my boss and he told me it's illegal to threaten jail time for a debt, and advised me to call them back and record them. So I did. The man who answered the phone answered only "Law Firm", which is highly irregular. You answer with the firm's name (I was a receptionist as well). I asked for an office manager, and the man asked if he could help me. I told him that I was threatened with jail time by one of the employees and need to speak to an office manager. He transfered me to what sounded like the same man, and when I told him I was threatened with jail time, the man tried to tell me that he listens to every call that goes out and I was not threatened, but merely advised of my rights. He then proceeded to threaten me with the same and I told him that this sort of practice was not legal and by the way, he was being recorded and he hung up immediately after I said recorded... =) I sent an email to CashNetUSA advising them of the issue.

Yes, it's a scam. Don't worry, I have them recorded and will send it to the FBI Scam section, as well as I have sent my loan company an email about it. Unfortunately for them, I work at at law firm who deals with collections and civil litigation, as well as the fact my first job was as a debt collector. They cannot threaten you with jail time...

Just recived a call from Roy @ Slater & White, that is was going to be a rested in the next 24hrs for fraud. Told him did not know that they were talking about. then he foreward me to a Mark Smith, both have Indian accents. They had my SS#, email address, birthdate, and work info. Mr Smith said that he was going to report to my employer that I was comitting fraud as they would be arresting me at work tomorrow morning. Mr Smith stated t;hat they had emailed me numerous time that I owed them money and that court doc and that I could have settled this problem already for the amount of $5000. plus. He refused to tell me with whom it was thru.
This is actually my 2nd company to do this. The other was Dunn & Sons, have not heard from them in a few weeks.

This has to be a total scam. Have no bill out statnding for this amt at all.

If they fire you over this, they could be sued..  However, you need to file reports on this, and I'd also print out some of the many threads and present to your employer!  They do need to realize the fraud/extortion that is going on and be aware of it!  A lot of this going on simply extortion, these guys are buying up bankruptcy's or old debts that are far past the statue of limitations and trying to extort money out of people.. And they don't care if you really are or are not the person in question to begin with!

Please do file reports with the FBI, your state attorney general,FTC & FCC..

Could anybody tell me how far this actually went? Does it end if he realize I know it a scam because I can lose my job over this. The company I work for will not investigate a warrant to even see if its real.

I'm from Indiana. I've received a few calls from these people. He uses the name Chris Walker working for the law firm Slater/White. He wanted my lawyers name and number to call and inform them I was being charged with Bank fraud. money fraud, getting a loan with the intentions of not paying back the loan, and the county sheriff would be at my company to arrest me. They went as far as calling the company I work for informing my boss that unless I paid the money the sheriff would pick me up. This is the 3rd time they have tried this with me.

The first time they used a number out of Mississippi now the are using a Louisana number, I contact the Bar association and they said it was a scam and told me how to find this site and write down what and how they attempted to get money from me.

Scam.... I just got the same call...they left a message threatening warrants/jail, wishing me luck if I don't respond.  These are the SAME people who called 2 weeks ago to OFFER me a payday loan (which I have not applied for).  They want your social and bank account info.  Don't fall for it and contact your local police department OR your state Attorney Generals office. Idiots...

So I got a message from this guy with a very thick accent and tried to explain that I had a loan I hadn't paid , which I knew couldn't be right since I had taken only one out and paid. He then proceeds to call my work to talk to them telling them I was in a legal issue (illegal). I talk to him and he starts getting mad cause I can't understand him and he won't send me to anyone else. Considering that Slater & White is not a real firm and the only way this number is mentioned is in complaints. I hope they take down whoever this Sam or Roy or whatever the hell he likes to call himself because targeting people who are obviously in financial trouble is a horrible thing to do. I really hope people don't fall for this guy's bull

I have received several calls from these people today saying the same about the warrant/jail time for not paying a loan back on time... I asked them what company said that I didn't pay them back to which they replied CashNetUSA (Which I had missed a payment for because I had to change my checking account number) so naturally I was freaking out... So I called CashNetUSA and they transferred me to the collections department who assured me that they would never bring me to court over 1 missed payment and told me that this company must be trying to scam me, so what i did was called the "Lawyers" back to inform them of the information I had received straight from the company they were trying to tell me were bringing me to court at which point the man on the phone got very angry so I immediately hung up the phone with him and called my local sheriff's office to report them... Hope this helps you guys

That is funny! I just received a call from the same person at my place of employment! I stated that the person he was looking for was not in today (that was me!) and he said, "Can you please take my number b/c I am a lawyer." I said sure, but you know you should not be telling me what you are calling for and you should be calling her personal number, not here.....He continued to say that his name was Roy Jackson (with is foreign accent), which made me giggle b/c obviously this is not your real name, and took the number down.....I will not be calling this person back! These people are scum!!!!

I had a call from "Roy" speaking with a foreign accent. He stated that he must hear from me or my attorney immediately or it will not be good. Naturally, no company identified. I haven't called back and don't intend to.
