it's a text saying that your Credit Card has been deactivated.

I received a text saying:
(Location) BANK ALERT:
Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at (local phone #).
The location and number did indeed line up, but the fact that no specific bank was mentioned, and that the number wasn't a standard land line struck me immediately as odd. That and they did not give me a card number.
I've checked my accounts online just in case and everything is fine. Obviously a scam. If you are ever unsure look up your banks number and give them a call.

Got one today (1-19-12) claiming to be from a local bank with a local number to contact about a deactivated card. I called the number to double check. The voice automation was poor and obviously a scam. They ask immediately for your 16 digit card number. I obviously didn't give it and hung up.
