I work for a credit card co, and I can tell you these guys are scammers. They tell you they can change your interest rate, and then want to "confirm" your card number, exp date, cvv,  name and address. I get probably 10 client per day that have provided info to these guys. The peope that call have nothing to do with citi bank, amex, scotia ban, they are not associated with any bank. When a bank calls you, they have your info and will not need to verify you by asking these questions. Lastly, you usually have to qualify for a lower interest rate on a credit card. If you have had several missed payments or your account is consistently  over limit there's a slim chance you would qualify as lower interest rates are awarded to clients with a good payment history.

- would not provide any info to these guys, if you have call your credit card company directly to advise the. Also if you do want a lower rate, again, contact you financial institution directly. Never provide your info to someone calling you claiming they are from a bank. Call them directm

I have received a call from this number and it's not the only one I'm dealing with at the moment. I do't have a credit card and haven't had one in over 5 years. Yet they want to talk to me about my card. HMMMM
I have contacted the FTC, BBB, Ohio Attorney General, local Police, as well as the annoyance hotline. These are really the only things that we can do to put an end to all these scammers out there. It's illegal to call someone and have an automated system speak to you. It must be a live person no matter what the call is about. You can report any of those calls whether you are on the DO NOT CALL list or not. Just keep a record of dates and times. As well as what was said if anything. Each time they call you, report it. They will be fined for every call made to you after you register with the do not call registry. I'm fed up with people. I need money as well and have been jobless for a year now. I'm not out there scamming people to make an easy buck. I want to earn it like every one else. Apparently these people think that they can just take hard earned money from us. Not on my wacth. They call me and they get charged with fraud, harrassment, abandoned calls, and anything else I can attach to the list of charges.

229-348-8478 called, just got new Vonage phone service last week, unlisted and already put on Do Not Call List.  How do they get numbers that have just been generated.

Anyone know what this number belongs to?   Got a call on my cell phone from them but they didnt leave a message,   If its a debt collector I dont owe anything?

It's an outbound call service, then then connects to someone who is trying to sell you on a debt consolidation. I asked him for a number to call back and the man started yelling at me and then hung up on me. "We don't have a phone number we are an outbound call service!"

Uhh ok, Definitely not trusting my finances to a "business" with no available phone number! Priceless.

UNREGISTERED NUMBER

I just got a call from the number on my cell phone as well, they hung up before I answered and when I called back I got a message saying "the number you are trying to reach is not accepting calls at this time"

HOW DO I STOP THESE CALLS?

Received call on cell phone from 229-848-3478. Called back and got message "Mail box for 229-48--3478 is full. Please call back later."

Got a call, regarding credit card services.  I stated number was on do not call. They stated they could call because of our credit card.  Asked to be removed from their list. The caller was very aggressive.  I just hung up.

Glad I did not pick up from what I am reading.
I just got a new phone number an internet hook up and wonder if it is not related to that
I also am credit card free so maybe the scammers are just looking to screw with some who have their cards paid off.

I love these guys, well at least they are fun to mess with.  I figure if they can call and waste my time it is my obligation to waste theirs.  I chatted about the weather and sports for about ten minutes stringing them along with as little false info as I could provide.  If you can't avoid them you might as well have fun

Telemarketing calls to cell phones ARE illegal. But these low-lifes don't care. They use random dialers, which can't tell a cell phone from a land-line or a private number from a business. All they care about is making enough calls to make it worth the effort from the tiny percantage of suckers who will get duped into buying their phony services.

i just got a call from this number too, and when i tried calling it back it said message full, i was starting to think that it was a relative of mine in trouble or something, they should stop calling number and making people worry....:O)

I get this call almost once a week. I've been able to find out that it originates from Tifton, GA and it's a cell phone.

Called my cell phone and left a message saying that I wasn't late on my credit card payments but that I should talk to them if I was interesting in lowering my credit card interest rate.  Then it wanted me to press 1 to speak with an operator.  

Bah....I hate it how all these scams have my cell phone number.  I don't give it out to anyone!

Could it be our cell phone provider giving it out, I wonder?

A a call from them too.  I don't own any credit cards "BuT' since they said they offer lower interest rates, I asked if they would give me a a zero interest on any $20,000 credit limit. They hung up.
