He actually got me - I didn't see these posts first - for a rental in Park City in March. Paid via PayPal. He even offered to pick me up from airport. I was just about to submit my PayPal payment when something didin't settle correctly. So, I researched his email addy (dhrentals11@hotmail.com) and this site popped up. I reported him to the FBI by filing an IC complaint. If you have a chance, do so, too. The website is:

Wow!  This is crazy!  So the guy is going by the name David Hooper now.  His number is 510-606-7616 now!  I emailed about a house in Jackson Hole, Wy with the exact same description as all the other previous comments on Craigslist.  He used the same description, same price, same security deposit, same everything to a T!!  I emailed him and he responded the same as all of the above!  I decided to call the phone number, just out of curiosity I guess!  The guy could barely talk english, and refused to talk to me on the phone.  He said he would email me.  I got nervous, so I googled his phone number.  Thank God!!

My family is planning a trip to San Diego this summer.  Our hotel is already book, but my husband thought it would be nice to rent a condo on the beach. Of all places he search CL, he was real excited about a listing from cozycondohomes. I refused to cancel our hotel reservations until he researched the company. Of course there is no such company. We became very suspicious when Tony asked us to send him a cashier check. We search some more on the internet and come across numerous SCAM ALERTS in Mission Beach. If sounds to good to be true run! I received a similiar email from Gary Smith at rosebuddzrentals11@hotmail.com phone number 510-606-7616,  for a "stunning apartment in Fenway (Boston).  such a scam.  I googled the address of the property he provided (180 Brookline) and found out that Oakwood does coroporate rentals there, I called and they referred me to the leasing agent at 180-Brookline and confirmed that it was a scam.  All leases go through them and they do not lease anything less than 3 months in the Boston area.   I

There are so many scam artists out there, if you're not familiar with the city it's so easy to get scammed.

I was looking for a house to rent for the week im in Kansas and i have been on craigslist where i have emailed quite a few people now, but this person got back to me and offered $150 a night but i negotiated him down to $600 inc tax for the week, after sending him the email saying that i am interested he sends me an email with the pictures of the house, to which i notice this is a 2 br house but he sends 3 pictures of 3 different rooms, didn?t think anything of it till i Googled the address he gave me '807 Truman Avenue, Key West' even before i Googled it i knew that key west was in Florida as ive visited there a few times now, me being a British citizen i just have to dig deeper to make sure im getting my monies worth, and that?s when i found a whole list of things about this person, different names, different numbers, but same address, he is now going under the name 'Gary Smith' how Americanized with the number '510-606-7616' and email address as 'rosebuddzrentals11@hotmail.com' just keep an eye out for him, i have emailed craigslist and i am posting this on a few more forums to do with him.

Thank goodness for this posting!  I was ready to book accommodation.  He is advertising for a vacation rental in Breckenridge on Craigslist.  When he replied he talked about rental agreements, paypal for safety and seemed knowledgeable about the property.  I almost fell for it.  I decided to google his phone number (goes by the name of Eric) and came across all of these scam alerts.  The pictures he sent were from a property that is for sale (saw the exact pictures on Realtor. com).  The price was a little low for the area but just assumed was trying to keep it rented.  Don't know if I can trust Craigslist anymore!

OMG.  I just got a same reply from "James".  I googled his phone number as I saw an warning on Craiglist about the scam!!!

I just googled his phone number because I have had scammers respond to my postings on Craigslist, so I am always leery when something seems too good to be true (or the response does not sound like an normal American way of speaking). He seems to be the same guy who used to call himself James Butler who has already scammed one person. He copied an ocean city maryland vacation rental listing from homeaway.com and listed as his own on Craigslist Baltimore area. He was posing as an agent for a Becky Shaeib located at
790 Lakeshore Dr Stillwater, OK 74075. He used the e-mail jbjamesbutler9@gmail.com. He is a scammer! Do NOT RENT ANYTHING FROM HIM.
