Go to www.donotcall.gov and register your phone number on the "do not call" list, then report their number on the "report a complaint" list.

What they are doing is in complete violation of Fair Debt Collection Laws. They are allowed one call per day, not usually allowed on Sundays and MUST be within a certain time of day. Which this company violates

They have called here three times a day for the last month. I finally picked up last week and told them to stop calling- and that the person that they were looking for did not live here- nor has he ever. He refused to listen to me and he demanded that I give him my name. He told me he would trace the call. So I hung up. The same thing happened tonight so I told him I would call the police. I did and the police called the company. The police told us the only thing to do would be to change MY phone number! All because SOMEONE ELSE gave them our phone number.

I have no clue who ERMI is, all I know is that they call me constantly at work anywhere from 4 to 5 times per day. On the Weekends it is worse; I come in on Monday and find they have called me over the weekend 10 to 15 times. If I check voice mail there is never a message just dead silence. They have called me at the house also 5 to 6 times a day and at first I did not answer. My daughter answered 1 time and asked if she could take a message and they would not leave one. Finally, one time I answered and they asked to speak to me. I told them that I did not live there anymore and I do not know who I was or where I lived. Stopped calling the house. Thinking about doing the same thing at work. Also, I have not received anything in the mail from them if they are a collection agency.

I have recieved calls from ERMI. Also the ENCORE. Many others that are suspicious and not knowing who they are. I never answer these. Caller ID is for the purpose of screening calls. If I do not recognize the number or the name Then I do not pick up the call. That can present a problem for some people that for whatever reason may come across as a private. because I never answer these either. These can be , I have discovered someone coming to your house for a purpose you have requested them for either a repair or whatever. Caller Id. is for those that want to screen calls and not answer those they do not know for whatever reason even friends that are not really friends in the first place. We all might have a few of those. People that call my phone number have to have name or number or both for me to answer and then they may not get one. Unless I want to talk to them of course messages can always be left if they choose not to leave one then I may never know they have called because I just may not hagve been home to even see who was calling. I take great advantage of this Caller id technology as all should and telemarketing would have no reason for calling anyone because none would answer a telemarketing call. Also I hardly ever answrer a phone during the suppertime hour. Meaning between 5 and 7. Never after nine unless it is family or a very good friend.

Same as everyone has stated.I live in Tn,and this is my cell phone, and i get ATLEAST 10 calls a day from this number. (248-605-0963)This is crazy, driving me nuts. How can this be legal?
| MsLady 2007-09-30 01:29:35 Unknown |
I get the same calls from this company ERMI 703-656-9959 and when they call they say they have a personal matter to discuss with me when my son asked them who is calling. If this was a real bill collector as we all know they dont care who they leave their message with. These people call me all week and all day long. I notice I have a different number from what the previous people have but the calls are the same. I have placed the number on my blocked number list. Seems like a scheme.

From their website:
?Our mission is to drive greater value through strategic customer interactions.?
-Encore Receivable Management, Inc
- Nice slogan if you are a car manufacturer or perhaps Wal-Mart, but a DEBT COLLECTOR?
Encore is now one of those MEGA big debt collection agencies with a zillion accounts and thousands of employees all across the globe. I never paid much attention until I recently placed a call to them and encountered a call center in the Philippines, which gave me a chill and cause for alarm. Whenever these mega-conglomerates get so big or so cheap that they have to outsource their collections, it is time for all of us to voice our concerns.
The ONLY people benefiting by this are Encore CEO Alan Lee Summerlin and Convergys President, Jack C. Freker, who don?t have to pay American wages and benefits to those working for them outside the U.S. My concern with Encore and all of these debt collection free loaders is they are putting millions of American consumers at risk with their outsourcing. Places such as the Philippines, India, Pakistan and others are NOT where you want your name, address, social security number and a LOT more personal information floating around. All of these HEAD DEBT COLLECTORS will sit and tell you your information is safe, that you have nothing to worry about but they cannot guarantee your information will not fall into the wrong hands. Not to mention the utter ignorance of anyone being asked a question that is not contained in their workplace script.
The private company with about 1,100 employees was founded by Alan Lee Summerlin (president and CEO) and eight others, including Mark Strauss (senior vice president) and Steve Panik. Greg Ferrall is another owner. In May 2004 it was sold to a public company called Convergys Corporation based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Convergys employs more than 55,000 people in 51 customer contact centers and in our data centers and other offices in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Convergys is on the net at www.convergys.com and has world headquarters in Cincinnati.
Encore and Convergys make money off American consumers by collecting debts. They are debt collectors as defined by law and as such, are subject to the laws enacted to regulate their industry, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). You have the right to dispute the validity of ANYTHING they are attempting to collect, by making demand for all validation that supports their claim. I urge you to utilize this law in the manner it was intended. You also have the right to dispute the validity of anything they place on your credit bureau reports.
If you feel your rights have been violated by Encore and need assistance, I suggest you choose one of the following:

Encore Receivable Management Inc. in Kansas has been calling but also sent a letter regarding a credit card debt of mine. They do not list an office in Michigan but their parent company (Convergys) lists a client site in Troy, MI. where ERMI is. Most of the calls I've been getting are from Kansas. I'm still waiting for something from ERMI in the mail though I'm not holding my breath.

I live overseas and have received about 10 calls a day from them for months now. I've called them back, listened to the voice messages, NOTHING. I can't get anywhere with them!
The number shows up as: 248-605-0905 - Michigan Caller
I just turn my ringer off because they call during the day in the USA, which is the middle of the night here.

They call me up to 10 times a day at home and at work. When I ask them who they are and what they are calling about they say they can't tell me unless I give them my address. It sounds like an overseas call.

They call, I answer and no one is there. Now they call and let the phone ring one time every hour starting at 8:00 am. I'm changing my phone number. I don't owe anybody and there is no reason for a collection agency to be calling me. It started last week. The second week in July 2007. And now it is everyday. Maybe I shouldn't have answered.

a recording called and said to wait. I waited for about 3 seconds and hung up. It called me once in the morning and once in the mid/late afternoon.

I get any where from 10 to 30 calls a day from this phone #. Most of the time when i pick up they hang up. a few occasions there has been someone and they never tell me their name and demand money for a debt i never made nor do i owe. One guy even threatened my life if i didn't pay. It seems I have the same first initials and the same last name as someone else. Now i just don't pick up the phone.
