Person calling from this number said they were with the US Online Yellow Pages. When they asked for my birthdate and I refused, they hung up. Calling their number back, I got the message that it was a disconnected number. Caller ID said it was "Jane Beutler".

Both the caller and his "supervisor" had strong accents that were very hard to understand.

I work in a medical office and have received the same call from the same people about 25 times. They said they were from the "Official Small Business Association", they read back to me all the information about our clinic that is common knowledge, name , address etc.. then they asked for my name, first and last. When I refused they hounded me until I hung up. Today after their last call I asked to speak to a supervisor, after a very long pause a man came on also with a very heavy accent and I told them do not call here again as they have been harassing us for the past two weeks, and I have no information to give them.  He hung up on me !   SCAM

I have had the same thing happen to me for the past month, I also work for a medical office.  These people are very rude, and have even yelled at me when I have refused to give them any information.  Now, they call and immediately hang up on me about 8 times a day.  This has happened every year around this same time of year.  Very irritating.

Same as Bill - US online Yellow pages, "Jane Beutler" on the caller ID. Called my office this morning, cut him off before he start, advising him to take us off their list, we are not interested.  He kept talking as I hung up on him.  Strong foreign accent.  They have to be spoofing this number.

I sue folks like this. Got a $2,500 check from one of them in today's mail.

Unfortunately, this one may be hard to track down for several reasons.
1) All of the posts are more than six months old.
2) They were all posted within a one week period.
3) That may mean this campaign is for a totally different product, from a completely different company, and that the number was unused for most of the months, then given to this new company.
4) After going through several pages of search results, I found very little useful information. It also appears that there aren't even very many complaints. I haven't checked yet, but maybe there will be better results on the name given to others, last year.

Even if we had 100 calls -- ten calls a week for the last ten weeks -- or more, the thick accents suggest they are from somewhere offshore. That doesn't make them legal or acceptable. It just makes them harder to track down with any certainty or accuracy. Generally, calls involving thick accents involve a lot of lies as to who they are, where they are, etc.

People like that often spoof the numbers they use, so it becomes even more difficult.

To a greater and greater extent, telemarketers are ignoring the laws meant to protect us .... and going to greater lengths to avoid having their true identities discovered. This means more harassment, and less chance of taking them to court for what they are doing.

I wasn't able to answer the call, and they left no message on the machine. Which means they'll probably call again. The only way to get a handle on the source of these calls is to answer them, and then play along with the scam artists until you have a verifiable identity. Sometimes that means giving them bogus information, or even a credit card that's within a few dollars of its limit . . . which you then get changed.

Whining about the call ". . . hung up on me." or, "Didn't give any information." or any other comment doesn't help the cause. What we need is real information we can take into court and nail these scumbags with. So, if you refuse to answer the phone, please refuse to waste the time of others by posting useless information.

Even the name of the company is helpful. (Assuming you're careful to get them to repeat it; maybe even spell it out, and write it down or put it in your computer carefully.) With that, if it's a real company, they can be tracked down. If it's not a real company, and they're using the name again and again, that's illegal and they can get in real trouble, if we can get the feds -- or state AGs -- to pay attention.

For example, looking up "Official Small Business Association" gave this:
http://www.fcc.gov/document/official-small-business-association

They dodged a bullet, but it's clear that they exist, and that folks don't like what they're doing.
