Just called my extension at work. All they said was "I'm sorry" and hung up.

They called my cell  # and left a message on my vm saying they could lower my interest rate to as low as 1.5%.  She didn't say what company she is with.  She said she had already talked to me about this and she was just following up.  Have no clue who or why she called me as I never talked to anyone about lowering an interest rate so not sure why she is calling me.

Consumer Debt group. They fish for numbers to hijack and try to extort info from you.

They are "sorry" all right.  I just the "I'm sorry" guy on my cell phone.  I have a pre paid phone that I switched to a couple of years ago because I was tired of paying AT&T $95 a month for phone service.  Silly me, I thought that would also cut down on the "junk" phone calls.  I believe they are testing the phone numbers on their data base to see which ones are valid.

Called my cell phone and left voicemail from a Lisa Middleton (no company name provided) that they could lower my interest rate to 1.5%. Left a return number of 1-877-723-1426.

The "im sorry" guy just called.

This is the second time in a week this has happened, the last time the call came from a fake 888 number.

Same deal here.  Just called my cell and when I answered a man said I'm sorry and hung up!  Jerks!!

Just got a call on this number on my cell. I got the "i'm sorry" and the line went dead.
I'd venture a guess they're autodialing or calling numbers they find in classifieds websites.

I got this same message from Lisa Middleton the message was like Bree's this is crazy and they give you an 877 number to call them back. I call back and some men answer I told him that I was in 2 way with my friend who is a cop and all call that I get from this number will be recorded and he hanged up.

Just called me, they dont leave a message.I dont have time to return calls from people that dont leave messages. Then you get a call back from some insecure person regarding there signicant other and all this crazy stuff starts happening. I am always on line.

Why aren't there better laws to protect our cell phone services??

Got a phone call on m cell phone from this number today, It was the same automated message as everyone else stating "i'm sorry" and hung up.

For land lines you just sign up with a new number, wait a few days and you start getting SPAM telemarketer calls, without even giving out your number.

I hope this doesn't start to happen every time I get new phone numbers. I've had my cell phone number for 8 years and still not a single telemarketer calls it.

Same story here, they must be making the rounds today. Funny thing is I'm at the library and I've actually seen two other people answer their phones, look at them confused, and then put them away.

Got the same phone call...on my cell...an automated "I'm sorry."  Am calling Verizon about it.  Sick of scammer/spammers!  Get REAL jobs!

Just got a call from this number on my North Carolina number.... I am from Michigan, did not recognize the number, no vm left.  Great place for these so very annoying calls! Thanks.

I got a call from this number on my cell phone.  I didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number.  The voice sounded like the one Bree described.  It was meant to sound genuine -- including a name, "Lisa Middleton" -- but it was so generic, I knew it had to be spam.

I called the toll-free number in the message and told them they had gotten a cell phone and I wanted off their call list.  The woman who answered rattled off some stuff about how someone there must have just misdialed, and I couldn't be on their call list if I hadn't called them.  Then she took my number, said, "Have a nice day," and hung up.

just received a call on my WORK number.  Where could they be getting that?  Or just widespread scam/spam.

Just called and an actual person (SHOCK!) left me a voicemail that began with 'lower your interest rates by 1%' or something, and ended with 'this is a great opportunity since you're only making minimum payments and this will be our last courtesy call'.  Not concerned since the only payment I have any sort of loan or line of credit for is my car payment and the last payment for that is this month.  Agreed with all of you... SCAMMER SPAMMER!
