You can just say 'don't call me back, take me off your list' and they won't call you back. I do it all the time. Dead simple.

Public policy research is usually exempt from the do no call list. That generally just applies to sales calls. If you just ask them not to call you, they'll leave you alone. If you just hang up or avoid the words 'don't call back', they'll schedule calls between now and doomsday.

I was just checking through some mail that I had received from the Government of Canada...this mail was in regards to a survey that is being conducted.

SUBJECT: Survery of Canada Student Loan & Grant Recipents

Human Resources Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) is conducting a survey to gather your viewpoints as a recipient of Canada Student Loans and the Canada Access Grant for students with Disabilites (CAG-PD).
The Canada Student Loans Program (CSLP) promotes accessibility to post-secondary education for students with a demonstrated financial need by lowering financial barriers through the provision of loans & grants.  The purpose of the survey if to determine how well the program is acheiving its objectives by gathering information about your experiences during and after your studies.
As independent research firm, R.A. Malatest & Associates Ltd., is conducting this survey on behalf of HRSDC.  As a manager at HRSDC responsible for this survey, I would like to invite you to participate in a telephone interview that will be conducted between February 2010 - May 2010.  The research firm conducting the survey is legally bound by their contract to treat all information in accordance with the Privacy Act and other applicable privacy laws.

The letter goes on further, but I will stop there, it just gives you a small snip-it into why they would be calling your house. They are not a scam, they are just looking for people who have had recent student loans and grants.

Recieved a phone call from this telephone number today, I didn't as I was not aware of the number.  It showed up on my call display as R A MALATEST 1-250-386-9909

Not too sure what this number is...but I am on a DO NOT call list..seems shady!
