I just got the same call, changing your phone number does not help because I now have an unlisted number and they still call, I haven't given anyone but my family my new number so I'm not sure how they got it.

I got exactly the same type of call. It's 'automated', threatening legal action..saying there is an action that has been filed against me & it would be in my best interest to phone them before the end of the day. They asked for "Mike" (I can't recall the last name as it was garbled). There isn't anyone here by that name.
Also, I've been getting calls (with live voices) asking for "Mike"...again, I tell them they have the wrong number.
I'm at the point now that if I receive any more of these calls, I'll report it as harrassment. Enough already.

WHY would you pay somebody when you know you don't owe anything!? I must have misunderstood your point in this one. These people are doing nothing short of harrassment.
Why in blue blazes would they call from B.C. when people live in Ontario? THAT must tell you something too.

This type of call is not only disgusting; the people responsible should be taken to task. No reputable company would threaten legal action against someone over the telephone. It's done through proper channels AND
legal paperwork is always submitted.

I too received a call from these people just 3/4hr ago. They said it would be in my best interest to call them before the end of the day...& I was being threatened with legal action. Today i received the same call and i called them back without identifying myself. they were keep asking me for my phone number and since i refused they hung up. thanks to you guys i know who called and if i should answer it or not

I get those calls... I'm sure they are on commission, so no wonder he's yelling.... he's hungry ...LOL

Thanks for that info.  I've been getting those calls from several numbers now and I keep putting them on silent so I'm not bothered as much,  I'm about the change my cell number.

Claiming that a mandate has been filed against me which requires my immediate attention. Also claiming that it is in my best interest to return call before end of day today at 1-800-588-40244 and that they will be forced to proceed with action.  

My first alert was the 1-800 number... seriously?  It is sad that this play upon fear is being used by humans toward humans.  Why do we chose to be so unkind to each other?  Greed has made us very evil.  So sad.

I pray for those human beings who have put this sad tactic into play to steal peace and dollars from those who are trusting, caring and taking care to bee kind and loving and respectful of each other in the world.

Well same story happened with me, and I question them after reading this forum and they mention they are "Collection Services Company" got their website as well "www.ncri.ca"
I got the call next day I got my new sim card number, So I conclude that number was belong to someone who have bad credit history ... so same story could happen with everyone,  people with bad credit history keep changing their numbers!

Never answer their calls, no need to
even if you pay  them, it wont help you,
just check your province or estate S.O.L  "statute of limitaions"
In the province of Ontario the SOL is 2 years
if your debt is older than the statue of limitation
no lawyer or bill collector has a chance in the world to take you to court.

I've been getting calls from a number which never leaves a voicemail. I phoned it back in case it had something to do with work.

The person refused to identify what company it was, said his name was "Jose (indecipherable)" and started yelling at me saying I owed money to the Bay : about $3100.  I had a card from HBC 18 years ago with a limit of $500, after becoming disabled I tore it up. There is no possible way I owe any money to them unless my identity has been stolen.

I said this to "Jose" he said he had my credit report. I said, fine, this is a case of identity theft, I will contact the credit report agencies and fix the issue. He started yelling that I DID owe the money and kept yelling. When he finally took a breath I said I will not speak to anyone who is verbally abusive, he started yelling again and hung up on me!

I do not owe any credit agency money. I've only used cash for years. I have no idea how he got my cell number as it is supposed to be private. I've received no paper/mail. Obviously I will be making sure I have not been the victim of identity theft, however I highly doubt anyone using my name could have gotten a credit card worth thousands of dollars considering I've been on permanent disability since 2000.

Unable to hear message clearly due to soft spoken partyand/or languae barrier (i.e. Punjabi).  This is the 2nd such call and am not even located within this province...B.C.

Oh, wow, me too!  The first time I got their threatening message, I was scared to death!  This nasty message says I am in "breach" and their lawyer Joshua Coplin, Conlin'? wants my lawyer to call him or else they are coming after me.  They are disgusting!  This has been going on for months.  I keep being told to block them but it is not so simple.  I get annoying calls from at least 6 different telemarketers and so called collector calls.  Cogeco will only block a maximum of 3 calls (for a fee of course).  They told me my only option is to change my number.  How can we fight this????

Got a message from this number telling me to call 905 366 3483
threatening  to sue me for some unpaid bill, the funny thing is
the automated message tried to pronounce my first name but got it all wrong and used  my last name as Work - since its a company cell phone I used Work as my last name on it, so did they hack into my phone or some other phone with my number - very strange,

They warned me to govern myself accordingly,

Same here, this guy?s Peter Kent the lawyer...yeah yeah bs, he has been calling me for over 3 month still no sh....t from them yet - I called the ph# back tell him to F...f take me to court still nothing - every month it's a different agent calling with the same stupid speech!!

They have been leaving automated messages under the name NCR?  Say they are not a solicitation, and that they have their attorneys to proceed against me if I do not call back within 24 hours.  They have been calling for 3 months, leaving similar messages.  I actually called them back one time and asked them to stop calling me, and if they had a claim to correspond with me in WRITING ONLY.  Have not received any documentation in the mail since that call.  After that call I made, they actually stopped calling for a few weeks only to start calling again using a name of another agent.  The first calls were from some guy named Peter Kent claiming to be an attorney, and that he was ready to take me to court.  Since then they have used two different names all claiming to be attorneys.  Nothing has happened I have yet to receive a summons, lol.
