What I like to do when dealing weith these people is just act like a total moron.
Caller: "I'm trying to reach Mr so & so"
Me: "I have 12 jelly beans in my bum"
Caller: "I'm calling about a debt incurred"
Me: "Cheese makes it hard to pooh"
Caller: Is this Mr.....
Me: "This scab is really salty"
You can be disgusting and you can be crude and you can swear. Just DON'T MAKE ANY THREATS. As a poster mentioned earlier they often record these calls. Don't verify who you are or that they have the correct person. Just go straight to the jelly beans in your bum. It's wonderful fun and will most likely deter people from calling. Write down some nonsensical respsonses so you have them ready.Turn an annoying situation into a fun prank! Good luck y'all.

Try writing a "Cease & Desist" letter to the Head Office, fax it to them - they have to stop calling you. they can contact you by mail only. They may, however, sent your file to 3rd party collections. It sucks but at least you can negotiate a proposed settlement. Usually for 25 - 40% off the debt.

My "dealings" with these people go years back. For a while I had 2 people living me who were family, they gave out my name and address as the place where they lived. Now, 5 or 6 years later I'm STILL dealing with creditors who call for them, everyday since then I've been getting at least 5 calls EVERYDAY from at least 3 agencies, so AT LEAST 15 calls a day for people that don't even live with me and had only lived with me for 4 months.
Anyway, if they're honestly bothering you and you have no dealings with them (as I have) then call the number back and start yelling at whoever you're talking to. Tell them there's no reason for them to be calling you, after that, to make sure your number gets deleted ask to talk to the supervisor or manager. I'm in years I've learned that when the person you're talking to says they'll delete your number, they're lying. I've also learned to truly get it deleted you have to go to the supervisor or manager. I literally just blasted off on the people I talked to, I swore at them left and right. Thank God they won't call anymore. Now for the other companies... btw, any calls any creditor makes are recorded, you can be mean but not too mean.

I have been getting the same thing. For weeks now these people have been calling me looking for someone else. I have told them repeatedly that they have the wrong number, and I have never heard of the person they are looking for. I have had my phone number for 7 years, which I also tell them EVERY time! Each time I tell them this, the calls stop for 2 days, then start back up again. I am beyond annoyed at this point as I have been polite and calm with these morons, that time has passed, clearly being calm and rational does not work. I am now looking into legal recourse, and reporting them to the police service for harassment.

It's Money Mart calling. They use all different numbers multiple times a day,no matter how many times you answer and say that person is not home. I'm considering getting my number changed, they are paid in full but are still trying to say we owe interest

These people are morons using collection techniques from the 1980s. From which they never benefit.. Idiots.
If they are doing this they are also sending your number to various offices. So you'll be spammed from 7 or 8 locations that are long distance. Bunch of idiots that end up with nothing in the end.
