Prepare a small complain and file in Queens Bench Court, stating the story , that You said here, Charge them with harassment, and include also Vendor who hire this collection company, and ask for $50.000 in punitive damages,
also include damages for actual suffering ...You will see, that they will stop harassing You very soon after You file...
I honestly believe that You will prevail in Your case ...

I got my son a new cell phone and he has had CONSTANT calls from this number as well as a few others, looking for the previous owner of the number as she owes them money on her cellular bill.  I think it may be from Virgin Mobile's collections department as they asked who my carrier was then said they'd remove our number AFTER they confirm it.  They call from one number after the other in a row until you answer it :S  UG!!! Wish I'd chosen a different number for my son's phone!

This number showed up on my phone bill as if someone called it. But no one did.

I get a call from this number every saturday morning around 10. my phone says it's from British Columbia, and leaves a message for "Liliana Martindale" or something. It's quite obviously a computer but I don't really see the point of leaving a message with a random person's name.

I call hem back and ask why they are calling me and It looks like my number was under someone else name before. I ask them to be removed from their list. Hopefully they stop the unwanted calls.

If memory serves me right once they call and you state you dont know them or have no way of contacting who they are looking for,you tell them remove my number from your information,also they cannot call you everday if they do that is breaking the law,they can call mon/wed/fri ot tues/thurs/sat,not everday,you could go one step further put them on the national Do Not Call list,but if you complain to the do not call list tell them you have no idea what they are selling in theory they are selling something because they bought and will sell your number to another collection agency

I think they are set up to apply pressure on an account that is due to expire. Best idea is to get a code with do not disturb and turn it on when you are doing something important. Im mentally ill and have an aversion to phones, so usually I just let it ring.

Ok, another caller and they use two numbers, 877-582-4840 and 250-421-9333 and I think 664-4433.  I owe no money and I'm getting tired of the calls.  Can someone not stop them???  I get calls on my cell phone during the day at work, which I don't answer and they alway say unknown and never leave a message.

what they are doing is illegal
there is a standard that they must adhere to in Ontario. I can't find it right now but you could try to google it

"Why" are ARC,allowed to harass people,when told they have the wrong person;Is there not a law against harrassment!

I get a call from this number almost every day,some day two and three times.
I do not bother to answer

Everytime this type of people phone, like yesterday,i have no idea who they are i just go to the PHONEBUSTER website and follow the intstruction. so since then they don't phone and my hubby was pissed so he phone them and have luck to talk of one them  and give them a big "S" without respecting our privacy coz even 6am they phone so he told them to report them  to the Business Bureau. she still giving reason but my hubby don't  give her a chance to say anymore coz this was going for 6 months or more so  they didnot phone but a couple days here they come again with different number so i just go  to phonebuster website. thats it. they do the rest to stop this people. its so annoying.

Collectors are not allowed to harass you if you are not the debtor.
They can call you once to ask about your friend. That's all they are allowed to do.

If they continue, call police and inform them too. See if police will call them to stop.

These people have got to be the most stupid and useless life form on this planet! They keep calling for a friend of mine who stayed with me 10 years ago while he went through his divorce. They also send collection letters in his name to my address, which I return to sender -- no such addressee. I no longer even know where he lives or if this guy is even alive. I have told these a-hole collection agencies the same thing time and time again, yet they keep calling back year after year since my number is the last known phone number they have for my former friend. And yes I have even changed my phone number... TWICE!  I'll also add that I do not have (and never had) any financial ties or shared account with this former friend.

Does anyone know of a legal or governing body for these harassing idiots? This can't be legal! I live in Ontario and any advice would be appreciated since I am disabled and on a very fixed income.
