I worked for this company 30 years ago when they first started, ran their phone room, and all the applicant had to say was they had "Depression" or were "Bi-Polar" and they were hired.  Otherwise, they seemed mostly legit.  Great product and stood behind their guarantee.  30 years now, must be doing something right.

I started the WISH program (Work For The Severely Handicapped) and it was embraced by the company.  I found a better position after 9 months and moved on.

They are a legitimate organization, marketing household items made by handicapped individuals.  We have ordered items from them in the past.  For some reason they started calling more often and I asked them to please not call us anymore.  They said fine and haven't called since. Shows up as HDE on our caller ID.

If when you try and call back you only get a busy tone
Then, most likely, it is a scam.
Report the number.

do not call list works great.  I get way more calls now that I am on the do not call list.

The Handicapped and Disadvantaged people are for real.  They have been in business for decades and I have bought nearly everything they 'sell'.  My mother bought from them years and years ago.  I don't understand why they word it as a donation, it must be for tax purposes.  I think they are a 'for profit' organization.  Please understand that they DO employ handicapped people with speech impediments and hard of hearing or mentally slow, so most of the time, they do sound loud and obnoxious on the phone.  They can't help it.  If you have patience and listen to them, it will make more sense.  I understand that they employ people in the office, the factory, in shipping and handling.  They provide many jobs to people that couldn't otherwise work.  They do send you whatever you order BEFORE you pay for it.  You don't send your money first, like a scammer would expect.  I believe it to be legit or they would have been shut down many years ago.  I had the same sweet lady call me for years and I even looked forward to her call so I could find out how her grandchildren were.  She passed away and I haven't had another rep like her.  And now, they do call repeatedly and they do 'harass' me and drive me crazy too.  I don't want or need any more of their stuff.  They are sneaky and call with several names on the caller ID.  It's frustrating.  99% of the time they are nice but I'm sure after getting hung up on all day, they get grouchy too.  When I was a regular customer, they only called once/twice a year.  I even went through a financial crisis one year and asked that they not call for a while and they respected that.  Just have patience and be kind to this one.  Hang up politely.  They mean well.

this number is calling all hours at night usually between 1 and 4 am I don't like to be woke up they are also calling a friend of ours in west virginia please find out who is doing theis and make them stop some say it is a disabled orginization selling light bulbs and some get no answer and a hang up this needs to stop it is disturbing people thank you

I got same kind of call others report: no message left.  HDE on caller id as name of company and 251 660-1103 the #.  In past i have been phished by similar caller id.  It was for some employment service for diasbled people, finding work from home deals, etc. Do you think they target disabled folks?

I have been receiving calls from this number for weeks, as well, but I finally decided to call them back. A guy named Ken answered and tried to sell me some pitch about how the business does a lot of things when I asked what the business does. Then he claimed I ordered an air freshener a year ago in January, which I did not. He went on to say the company was all about the disabled and veterans, but when I informed him I was disabled, he said, "Have  a nice day" and hung up on me.

This stinks of a scam.

I have gotten numerous calls from this number and they never leave a message.  I have tried SEVERAL times to call them back, but I get no answer.  It is very aggravating.

Fourteen times in the past 2 weeks this number has called, each time, someone just friggin listens in on the other end, seriously like a "heavy breather" i have gotten fed up and put them on my incoming blocked number list, i have tried calling it back and nothing, and last night was the last straw, calling in at 2:38 AM!!!!
There was no point in me asking to be put on its dO not call list, no one on the other end ever responds, so I put them on MY selective call rejection list, try it if its available from your provider, (its a free feature with mine I just had to ask about it and they turned the feature on). Good Luck to all of you who keep getting these annoying calls, maybe one day they will just cease and desist, sheesh.

Just called 5:30 PM, didn't answer.  Caller ID listed the number and "Alabama."  No message was left.

Definitely some sort of Phishing scam - went from helping the disabled, to supporting the troops, to not wanting a support the troops flag. Don't give them any information!

Got a call from 251-660-1103 - told me it was my lucky day... I told him I was supposed to be on a do not call list, he said "how's that working out for you?"

I do the same thing with every number that comes across my caller ID....Pick UP.... Hang UP. Best method I found that works for me. Don't even want to hear them talk.

This number called my phone and didnt leave a message.  The caller id showed up HDE as the name.  After calling it back several times  a fast talking guy named mike answered and said it was a handicapped disabilty employment deal.  He asked me how i was doing on light bulbs and other household items that basically i could just tell them what i needed and they would ship it too me and I could give a contribution at my convenience.  This all sounds too good to be true and I dont just give my info out to anyone so after listening for a moment i told him i wasnt interested and hung up.  Not saying theyre a scam but the old saying that if it sounds too good to be true it usually is is something that i live by. I dont believe anyone sending me free stuff for a donation when i want to give it is gonna help the handicapped find jobs...

This number called my home number, we are on the do not call list.  They did not leave a message when my answering machine picked up.  I did a reverse look-up and it shows it as a Dental or Orthodontics office.  Further research shows this as Handicap & Disadvantaged Employement business.  This is spelled exactly how I found it in my search.  It is very discouraging that they are hiding behind what looks to be or at least sounds like a reputable business number.
