got the exact phone cal, my information was is there hands and they were asking me to go through western union to give them $210 and it will be reimbursed. i dont know whats going on but decided not to follow through with it. the call is from seattle, washington because I looked up the number. so, definitely not going through with it.

Got several calls from unknown # over the course of 2 weeks. Finally answered and they said I had been approved for a federal grant of $7000. They had all my info except ss#, asked if i wanted direct deposit or cash, told caller I did not have an account. Caller said no problem they could do cash.  and gave me a number to call (253-843-6189) with a verification code and the caller's name to claim grant. I called the number gave Code and first and last  Name, then they asked if I was near a western union, told her yes,  she said to go and call back once I was there.then continued to tell me I needed a $210 security deposit that would be immediately returned when I received the money. Informed her I did not have it. She continued to say that it would be reimbursed. Told her she did not understand wat I was saying. And told her I had $5 to my name. She said ok. And hung up on me. Definitly a scam

Actual caller gave no number.  Caller ID indicated out of area.

Aprox 3PM Central Time today, 1Apr2011.          Stated she was calling from federal grant program.  
Just rcvd call from an unknown number, very strong foreign accented lady called:  stating we won grant of $7000, they already had info, ie: name,address, etc..they wanted birthday.  Said to call 253 843 6189 and say Sharon Jones verified info and gave us a number to  use as "ID for grant".   After reading all these comments I decided not to call.

yea got the same thing some one called saron jones new my name number and were i lived n ask for my birthday for verification n said if id want cash or wired to my bank bu i needed to give em my ss# n account number

I was called from an unknown number. They had all my information. I was told that I had qualified for a 7000$ grant. They ask for my account and or credit card information. I do not provide that information to anyone no matter how much money they say theyre gonna give me. I suggest no one does. I called the number given to me and no answer. Its a scam to get people to give out their account information.

Caller phoned husband from unknown number claimed to be with government sd that he was to receive a $7000 dollar grant because he paid his taxes. Caller had his first and last name plus mailing address correct asked husband to verify date of birth which he did. Caller gave husband this phone number to call but have not been able to get through. I suspect this is a ploy to gather personal information for ID theft and that should he get through to this other number that they will hit him up for SS#. I mean really how ofter does the government call to give people money?
