We received a check that was to be activated by calling in. We live in Maryland so it didn't make sense. Something about wiring $132.30 or something to cover the charges and we would receive $2,888 in return. TOTALLY A SCAM. We threw it away.

I got the SAME message. I just reported it to MY bank today. Unfortunately, I also called the number back. When it asked for my card number, I immediately hung up. Hopefully, they didn't pull any info from that call....

The bogus text message "Text from +1 (256) 744-5465 THE BANK OF NORTHERN MICHIGAN ALERT: your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at 231-352-0608."
They have been reported to my phone carrier and will be reported to the BBB tomorrow.
DO NOT CONTACT THEM IN ANY WAY (sorry for yelling). Even if you use caller ID blocking, they may still be able to capture information about you. Don't text them either as the same holds true.
Hopefully the cosmic karma will catch up with these little turds.

FRAUD!
Text message saying to call Bank of Northern Michigan...(I am from Michigan) your card has been deactivated! Please call... and lists a local number. I don't even bank there.
Watch out... it may target your local bank.
