Saw twice on caller ID yesterday and today. Caller left no message. Called the number back twice and operator said call can not be completed. I believe area code 267 is a Philadelphia cell number.

Survey calls do not create an established business relationship exemption. Calls from real survey companies are not regulated by Do Not Call (DNC) laws, since they are not soliciting the sale of a consumer good or service and are not telemarkters, as defined in the DNC laws. Unfortunately, they don't need your permission. The frequent calls with no one there are most likely the result of predictive dialers(robo-calls). Computers dial as many as several hundred numbers at once, then drop the call if there isn't someone available to talk to them within a few seconds. The computer continues to dial the number until the call is connected to an available person working for the caller. If you call the number on the caller ID, you usually get a "not in service" or similar recording--this is because the callers set up the phone lines as "outbound only" phone lines or even completely bogus numbers if the calls come from outside the U.S. Survey companies are not required to honor Do Not Call requests but many companies don't want to call people and make them angry. Sometimes, the callers are outside the U.S. and are not subject to U.S. laws, even if authorities can find out who they are. Until the laws are changed by legislators, we're pretty much SOL.

Survey
I have been getting calls from this number for at least a month.  When they are on the line they ask for my husband who is either not home or I just say he's not because I can tell they are a call he wouldn't want.  They have said they were doing a radio station survey but every time they wanted to talk I was too busy to mess with them and told them it wasn't a good time.  I would love to get off of their list.  If anyone has actually taken the "survey" I'd love to know what it entails and if it's just a front for trying to sell you something.

We have also been receiving multiple calls from this number here at my home and my experience has been the same as everyone else; no one is there and I cannot call back the number.  I see that some folks found that this is a radio survey.  Combining that info I think I have found the company from where these calls are initiating - SI Video.  Both the area code and exchange on their website match and it looks like they do marketing or PR for media outlets, including radio stations.  I tried calling the number listed on their website but I just got voicemail.  Here is the web address if anyone is interested.  http://www.sivideo.com/producer/mediaelists.htm

Survey
I get a call once a day from this number since New Years Day.  I live in the Philadelphia suburbs.  So it makes sense that it may be some survey group asking questions about radio station listening habits.

It is useless for me to answer the phone and do the survey.  I only listen to XM Radio at home, office and in my truck.  Philly radio with their chronic overly repetitive music of the same 10 songs - annoying screaming car dealer announcers - and babbling not-so-funny morning DJs made it worth the subscription fees.

Perhaps I should answer the phone and give my opinions of Philly radio.  But then again, if I do reply I would be killed with future phone surveys.  Once you give a reply, you now have an established business relationship and your permission for the survey company to call you about any other product or service survey.

The fact remains that these survey people are annoying.  Their survey results must be dismal.  As reported here, there is no one on the line when answered. The line goes dead and when you dial the number on the caller ID.  You can respond to the survey by returning the phone call or opting out.  That alone makes me think that the phone number on the caller ID is spoofed which is a huge problem for anyone that owns a phone and pays for caller ID.

I have just recently been getting calls from this number.  I've tried to do a search to find out who it is, but all I can find is that it is unlisted.  For those of you who don't know 267 is another area code for the Philadelphia area - not necessarily a cell phone.  I also kept on the line, but no one was there.  I'm also on the do not call list.  I'm going to keep trying to find a location for this number.

**UPDATE**  I finally was able to get through to my phone company (VERIZON) - what a huge waste of time that was!  I am amazed at how poorly large companies train their employees.  Listen to this; after the telemarketer call last night I decided to call the operator to find out what my options were.  They told me that I should call back to their business office today when they were opened, and that they would be able to advise me and/or take some kind of action.  So that is what I did!  But what did I get?  Someone who has no idea of anything at all.  After I explained the situation, that I was trying to report a telemarketer type phone call, the person in the business office told me that I should call the POLICE and that they would handle it!!!  CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT????  What utter nonsense.  If I had called the police they either would have hung up on me or had me arrested for wasting their time.  Sheeeesh.  So I TOLD the phone company person that I spoke with the operator last night and that THEY told me to call the business office!  So this time she puts me on hold since she realized that her B.S. didn't work and that she should actually check to see what the right answer is.  Then she tells me that she will transfer me to their "call abuse center".  And when I finally get to them, they tell me to call the national do not call registry and file a complaint (duh!).  So calling the phone company was a complete waste of time (I knew that but decided to try anyway).  So now I have filed a complaint now against 267-519-4002 at both the national do not call registry as well as the PA one.  For anyone else interested, the number to call to do this for the national registry is 1-888-382-1222.  I also filed at their website at https://www.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx as well as the state PA one.

This number has called me something like 2-3x a day for the past week.  I've not answered until last night.  After picking up the phone, there was no one on the line, just the telltale clicking sounds then dialing sound, of an automated telemarketer.  I waited on the line to see who it was & to tell them to stop calling me but no one picked up.  I tried manually calling back but that just gives an error message.  I am trying to report them to the phone company (VERIZON) right now, but that is easier said than done since they have had me on hold for the past 15 minutes!!!!!!  I am on both the federal and state (PA) do not call lists and I will also try reporting them there, but in the past with other #s that has been a waste of time.  When I tried that before following the PA reporting procedure, all I got back was a form letter saying that they would put me on the state do not call list, even though I was already on it.  Sigh.

Same as Jane - No one on the other end. I am on a list of people dumb enough to take surveys so maybe it's related to that.

I was worried it was a boyfriend of a girl - ya know! :)
