I have been recieving harassing and disrespectful calls from a man who claims to be "Officer Robert Johnson",but has a very heavy Middle Eastern or East Indian accent. He constantly asks me to make a payment to a Payday Loan, that he insists i have taken out.But he will not give me the Company name that i allegedly taken the loan out with initally. They have threatened to put me in jail and damage my name and social security number.I am very angry and fearful that they have taken my personal information, and have put fraud on my name and social security number.I want the harassing calls to stop.I am going to report this number to NYPD.I have not taken any loans with his number.I believ my infrmation was stolen from other another company i have taken a loan out with.I am also going to report them to the Better Buisness Bureau for fraudulent activity.

i had someone call me as well today at my work, i couldn't understand what his name was, but he stated i have an outstanding payday loan and i have 3 lawsuits against me for a payday loan i had 2-3 years ago, but recently applied for again. I told him I need to see a statement before I speak with him in anymore detail, he said he would e-mail me (didn't confirm my e-mail address) and then he said goodbye.  I came home and my husband had a message from them stating that i have been involved in fraudulent and illegal activity and that they need my social security number. I contacted the company he was stating i owed money to and they said i do not have any outstanding loan with them.  So scary that they have my work, and my husband's cell phone number.  Hopefully I won't hear from them again, if I do I will have him spell his name out to me so I can record it.  We have caller id at work but when he called all it said was out of area, but the number he called my husband's phone on was disconnected when i tried calling it back, but the guy left a different number on his voicemail, and i tried calling that as well and it just kept ringing and then finally said i called an ext. number.

If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):
1.    The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.
2.    Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone. And if the crooks claim to be law enforcement or lawyers, officers of the court or bankers, be sure to include that information in your report.
3.    File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone.  Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.
4.    File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.wvago.gov
5.    File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en
If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)

By the way, here's just a small sample of numbers used by this particular group of scammers. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony organization names, thick foreign accents, and oddly worded threats that are so melodramatic and ridiculous that it's laughable:

Scam alert: Bogus debt collectors
By Leslie McFadden ? Bankrate.com
Monday, Aug. 3
Posted 2 p.m.
Bankrate reporter Leslie McFadden contributed this entry.
This scam isn't technically about credit cards, but it is scary enough to post a warning. The Better Business Bureau issued an alert today saying consumers across the country are getting phone calls from bogus debt collectors claiming default on a payday loan. Of course, the consumer needs to pay a large fee to avoid arrest -- as much as $1,000.
The caller poses as a lawyer, and may threaten extradition to face trial if the consumer doesn't pay up immediately.
What makes these calls alarming -- and perhaps convincing -- is that the perpetrators reference the consumer's personal information, such as the person's Social Security number, driver's license number, previous bank account numbers, home address -- even personal references.
"The amount of information they have is really troubling," says BBB spokeswoman Alison Southwick. She adds that the amount of data points to a possible security breach.
Spread the word to your friends and family: Don't give out personal or financial information to an unknown caller. Scammers can spoof Caller ID to display different numbers, so trust your instincts over technology.
The BBB offers these tips:
?    Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
?    Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
?    File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online if the caller is abusive, uses threats or otherwise violates federal telemarketing laws or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
?    File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online if you believe a debt collector is trying to scam you.

I received a call from this person threatening me to make a payment to his company. I recently had to change my bank account due to 3 companies hacking into my account and taking money from me. Thankfully my bank reimbursed me, but I did report them to the U.S. Fraud Dept. and Better Business Bureau. So I told this person that I am reporting you to the above companies, then he hung up. I will never order anything online again. I have learn my lesson.

I have had the same problem. This man keeps calling my cell phone and my two adult children's cell phones. He claims he is officer Charles Brown and works for the U. S. Government and that my social security number is blocked by the FBI. He has also called and said his name was Officer Tom Berry. Apparently he is getting mixed up with us his lies. He called my daughters cell phone and told her that I was involves in fradulent criminal activity and that it was very important that I get in touch with him or else I will be very sorry. He knows my social security number and former checking account number. WARNING - Do not give him any information! He tried the first time he called to get me to verify information. He does have some correct information, but not all. I think he is fishing for more information.

I have also been a victum to this scam.he claimed to me "Officer Robert Johnson"(also with a heavy east indian accent).Claiming i have a unpaid loan with his "alleged" payday loans. He claims to be a officer of a law firm. But requests payments(i think not). This is a fraudelent organization, who try to exstort money by threatening vulnerable people. They obtain your information. From different sourse. They got mine from a payday loan that i took out. They have harrassed me both at my home and my job.I am reporting this number to the police in NY and in Pennslyvania. This harrassment and treatment will not be tolerated. Its wrong and causes unneccessary stress and fear. This has to stop!

This person who called himself "Officer Scott Bell" (not likely because he had a very heavy middle eastern accent) claimed to have an investigation and law suit against my wife. He demanded she return his call. When I informed him I had alerted several law enforcement agencies including terrorist task force in Philly, he replied "I will F@#%$ Your wife"
He is obviously not an agent or officer. It is a SCAM and possibly a terrorist operation.
