Got a call just a minute ago, did not answer it!

Call from 0012697682672 to UK at 15:11 2nd April. No message left on our answerphone

I got a call last night at about 17:00 hrs. I am also TPS registered  I suppose they were trying to sell something - but does anyone really fall for it?

When I worked as a receptionist in the USA, we were warned against pressing any number when requested by an unknown caller, since one number (and it may be 5) allowed them to bill any further calls to our company's number.  It was a set-up made for the convenience of on-the-road executives, but was being abused by scammers to net them free calls.

I have no idea whether this would happen in the UK, but they are clearly getting something out of this.  If you pressed 5, it might be worth a call to your phone provider to clarify?

I also wanted to say to people on this group that the TPS service *does not* cover international numbers, only UK (not sure about EU). You have to use a service that allows to select and block calls by each number/callerid.

TPS doesn't include international numbers only UK. All you can do its use a service that allows you to select and block that number

No message left just hung when called back

just got a call from this number a minute ago, I didn't answer it as I'm reg. with TPS and it wasn't in my list of friends/family.

I also missed a call from this number this afternoon about 4.40pm (home ill, would usually have been at work) dialled 1471 and thought who would be calling from a US number so I Googled it which led me here...

Just thought I would leave an update, I found out that, this number is located in the bellevue area of Michigan. as soon as I find out what the company is called the MD is going to be getting a double glazing sales call at 2 am he he he.

Yeah receved call today at 16:34 gmt - no voicemail left but checked for number via 1471

just had a call from this number we are also registered with the TPS. When my wife picked up the phone (she's american btw) the person on the other end said nothing so I took the phone and said hello then they hung up on me. If they really think that they are above the law in other countries then they better think again. If anyone gets the real name of the company please post it on here. I have free calls to the USA and if I can get the company name and find out just a few of their employees it'll be pay back at about 2am Michigan time. Let's see how they like it.

This number called today at 14.53. I didn't pick up the phone as the microphone is not working properly at the moment.

I am also registered with TPS.

I too have had this phone call ealier today. When I said I was on TPS they said it doesn't apply to them to follow uk law or rules as they are in america. Typical americans thinking they can do what they like when it comes to other countries.
BT or whoever can stop this type of call need to get their fingers from up their bottoms and sort it out ASAP!!

Same call just now (to a TPS registered number) from 0012697682672. I pressed 5, and asked for the company's details and he hung up on me. Shame they're in the US, they're probably out of reach of the UK regulators. Got the same call to my mobile (also TPS registered) a couple of weeks ago, but the caller ID didn't show up, and the system dropped my call as soon as I hit 5, so I couldn't get enough info to make a complaint.

Just got the same call at 16:10.  Waiting for the announcement and pressed 5 to speak to an advisor.  Spoke to male with an American accent claiming his company name as "UK Consolidation".  Doubled checked this and said I wanted to make sure I had it right because I'm registered with TPS and should not get these calls.  When I said I needed to report this to the authorities, he put the phone down.

just got this as well. didn't get to the phone in time by i'm pretty sure they've called before.

I also received this call at 14:14 GMT.  BT are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard about this..........

I too received a call from this number a minute ago. It was an automates scam call, pretending to be from a accident compensation firm trying to get you to press number five on keypad.

Just hung up to avoid any charges.
