I am so glad you posted that this happened to you. I put it into google word for word what was sent to me and this site came up. So I emailed the link back to the person and told them if I was to receive correspondence from them again that I would contact the proper authorities!

I received the same email this morning on a recent post for an item I'm selling on Craigslist here in Seattle, WA.  I had a funny feeling about the phone number (more specifically the area code) and decided to Google the number.  I just happened to come across this web posting.  It's good to know I'm not the only one but it's unfortunate that this person/company is doing this.

Ha ha! Shoot... I was almost excited to sell my item.

I have decided to pay the quoted price in the ad  because, I know there are other buyers interested and I want you to keep it for me only as I am buying it for my son that I just reconciled with and there is no better way to start afresh than to buy this for him because he is really in need of it especially now that he is expecting his first child and I am about to become a grandmother. I have seen it and please let me know any other thing you think I should know about its condition as I have a surgery appointment and I won't be able to see it. I would just have my bank issue you a bank check for the amount quoted. I would also call and arrange a shipper who will be picking it up and have them paid immediately but if I am unable to do that, I would just add the cost of the shipping on the check. I received a similar email to the others from noughterdbhyte@yahoo.com.  Name was changed to Theresa.  Phone number is now 201-430-2444.  Same story about being hearing impaired.

Yup, I just listed some furniture on Craigs list a couple hours ago and I already got an email from "Igore" at that same phone number.

Strange, but yes, if they don't reference your specific item you are selling on Craigslist it is probably a scam.  Anyhow, it seems like it would be asy to catch these people given they have a cell phone number, but perhaps it does not work or is a pre-paid phone.

Yup, +1 on the Dallas area.  This time it's the 717-469-5947 number, but from Igor.  Haven't gotten scammed, but plenty of phishing and can recognize one when I see it.  Thought I'd put an update up!  If the sender doesn't specifically list your link or item, or if they want to use third party shipping they set up, don't even bother - 99.9% of the time it's a scam!

I live in Va the check came from PA and my money was sent to MD so east coast seems to be the place to watch

I received the same email and I got scams cuz I'm stupid and trusting! Same thing woman named Sophia says she's hearing impaired sent me a bad check had me western union money to a Trisha Miconi in Maryland. It was for furniture. Now my bank account is sitting at -1200 and I have a child to take care of. Please be aware of this scammer!!

I got the bogus Citibank check too....it looked like it cleared okay but then I caught it just in time.  She cost me time and money in bank fees.

If you do get one of these bogus scam emails.....turn the table on her and give her a phony physical address to send it to....I'm sure it costs her time and money to produce those phony checks then mail them!!!!  Then just sit back and watch her send you more phony emails thinking she has a payday coming!!!

Same thing from me today...a response from a craigslist as.   Signed Sophia - same message - something just seemed off about the response.  I'm glad I looked up the number.
