There is a company called Digitone that makes a little box that when connected to your phone will catch all "unknown callers" (business), "private callers" (private people who block their CID and up to 100 numbers that you capture and don't want to hear from.

The robocaller thinks yours is a non-working number and eventually they delete it.

Your phone doesn't ring when any of the above call.

If you put the telephone company message with the Disconnected number tones followed by whatever message you want on your answering machine or voice-mail they will hangup as soon as their computer hears the tones & will not call back for a long time.

Heres a link to the tones: http://stuff.gigo.com/phone/
The Disconnected number tone is what you want. You can use the whole message but just using the three tones will do the job.

Just got a call from this number about 30 minutes ago.  Caller ID showed Out of Area.  Why would it be out of area, Houston is only a couple hundred miles from here.  Didn't hear it ring because Digitone Call blocker blocked it.

Before getting a call from this number, I first got a call from a 417 800 2294 number at 8am. A couple of seconds after I said hello a recording came stating they are a data compiler for Google and if I am the business owner then press 1 to list and 2 to decline listing my business. This is my cell number and on DNC list. So, I pressed 2 -seems like a mistake because now I am getting calls from different area code every minute. So far also got calls from area codes, 414, 877, 417, 610, 320, 281, 801 as I type this. Seems like a new breed of spammer.

Who does this number belong to.  I answered and no reply.  I was curious so called the number back and it stated that the mailbox was full and call back later.  I was hoping a real person would answer.  Ocfcourse, I'll not call back later.

Caller did not leave a message.  I called the number and got the message, "Thank you for calling... 'Young Hot'... if you know your party's extension..."  I didn't stay on the line to find out what "Young Hot" is.  How disgusting.

I feel much the same way as you about this, but the reality is that these companies pay taxes, employ people, who vote, and the companies pay the phone company.  WHO is going to try to shut down these leeches?  Answer, NO ONE.  It's a battle we can't win other than be trying to get number blocking installed on all phones.

There are several ways to stop these kinds of calls.  If you choose to answer the phone, get a small whistle and blow it into the receiver.  If there is a live person on the other end, the calls will stop immediately.  Or, you can connect a fax machine to your phone line and let the fax answer the call.  The calls won't stop immediately, but the will eventually stop.  They get tired of getting a fax tone.  Of course you can still answer your phone if the caller is someone you want to talk to.

By now, everyone should have figured out that the FTC
DO NOT CALL LIST [so-called] IS JUST A BIG JOKE.
However, everyone should keep filing their complaints,
and to keep their own respective log regarding same.
Here is an example of my own personal log-book, which
is very easily and simply kept by using "TEXT:"

>> 281-609-0995 10-26-2012 7:29 PM
    =========================
    "UNKNOWN NAME"
    DID NOT ANSWER
    SEE: http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-281-609-0995

I keep a separate TEXT FILE named for each and every
number I receive these damned calls from, and then to
just add to it, most recent call at the top.

Nothing is going to happen on this, unless "EVERYONE"
continually bombards the FBI, your CONGRESSMAN,
your LOCAL TV NEWS, any and all NEWSPAPERS, etc.
I have been doing this myself, but will not continue to
be the only one doing it.  Strongly suspect that at least
the FBI has now "black-balled" my email name.  Either
that, or they simply responnd as "NOT READ," just as my
Congresswoman; Kay Granger of Texas has also done.
Here is her email address: kay@kaygranger.com
[please find yours as well?]

Below will be a list of all of the FBI Field Offices email
addressess, as well as USDHS, that I have found to be
vaild, in such a manner that should make it easy for one
to simply "COPY" and "PASTE" them into your email.
You might want to reference: Title 47 U.S. Code ~223

NOTE: Suggest you make your emails ?PRIORITY,? and

This number just called and did not leave a message.  The caller ID says it is coming from Houston, Texas.  Is this similar to the one for Senior Alert Systems that has been calling for the last two months?

These are "telemarketers" who are running a scam targeted at senior citizens.  They are selling a medical alert medallion.  They invoke the names of the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association.  Scum of the earth.  New phone number for an old pitch.  I think this is the fourth number I've blocked.  Avoid them like the plague.
