Just so you know...I just called Mike Smith's direct extension and Richard Brown answered.... not American.  I asked when I took out this loan...he says last year. I said well if you have legal affidavit in front of you to file against me then surely if must say an exact date...he says Sept is all I have for info.  I said stop right now...you are a scam I have never taken a payday loan and I do not have a checking account so what you are doing is illegal and he hung up on me.  Hopefully this is the end.

I have never applied for an online loan...so I know this is a scam.  Back in November I got these same calls and voicemails...they would call and call again 2 minutes later.  After a week of their calls and threats...I called back. I started very polite to find out where they were from...because if you Google Houston Law Firm...there is no such named law firm.  Then I proceeded to tell him he was a fraud because I had never taken out a loan and that our country did not handle legal actions that way and he was representing a false business...all illegal. I said if you ever call me again I will turn you in to the FTC...the FBI and MY local sheriff. They stopped calling.... until yesterday...Mike Smith
..is back at it again.  I will again file with the FBI.  Palestinian piece of s***....I am more than annoyed now!!!

They called me 4 times today I called back and tried to get there information they hung up on me!

Do not answer your phone.. these people are scammers.  Some company (probably a payday loan) has given them your information if at anytime you have applied for a loan.  Mainly if you decide not to take their loan...they sell your information to some scam artist like this person.  If you listen to them they will not send you anything in writing and will continue to harrass you for days on end. It's really funny how they pretend to be something they are not and they know very little about the laws in this country.  If your phone has a reject list put this number on it and keep it there.  

i have been receiving these calls since I applied on-line for a loan last Friday. This guy with a very heavy arab accent claims to be Brian Evans from a Houston law firm and that my ss# and e-mail were under investigation.  He also claims to have a warrant for my arrest and if I do not call him back there will be a law officer at my door in the next few days.  Nothing really specific and no real documentation of the charges against me.  So that being said we all know this is a scam from the get-go and they are just out to sucker someone in to giving them money.  This number needs to be reported and taken out of circulation as soo as possible. Eventually someone will be scared by their tactics and send them money and then they win again!

They just call me I did not pick up

I get the same exact calls. Same voice always calls changes his name from Bryan Evans to Richard Brown and has a Indian accent. Now the they say the Sherriffs will be at my door with a subpoena for my court hearing if I don't call them back.

I've been getting the same call saying my SSN is under investigation and the Sherriff will be at my door. And that they will be contacting my employer. And if they take me to court I have to pay they're legal fees which could be $3,000 or more.

They just called me with a indian or african accent trying to threaten me with legal action.. the law should already know of these scams why cant they stop them??

got a call from a"Houston Law Firm" saying I owe $1400.00 for a loan taken out on my email account from Cash Net and that if I don't resolve this I will have a sherrif here with a warrant for my arrest. this loan was supposed to be taken out last year but two things are wrong.. I was in prison with no internet access and I didn't start up this email address until December 2013

These people have been calling on the average 10x /day
Say owe $$ and if I don't pay today a sherif will be at my door on Tuesday (at least they recognize a holiday )
All have Indian accents and when I asked to speak to the principle of the firm - gave me to another "person" who had no idea of what a corporation Id number was!!  Real scammers

One time they called I asked them for the affidavit number and the court number it was filed in and the presiding judge and asked all kinds of actual legal questions and they didn't call me back for a while. But they are back again. And as I replied to someone else.m they knew about my 26 year old brothers death.

I keep getting calls also. They somehow even knew that my brother had just died. And called me while Iwas pplanning funeral arrangements and said they were going to contact the sheriff depth and issue a warrant during the funeral. My credit has not been so hot in a while... but the things they are alleging I never did. I worked in the criminal justice field. I amin need  of assiassistance getting rid of these people.

Some guy claiming to be Officer Dan and if his name is really Dan I am the Queen of England. He said my social and my name were under investigation and there was an affidavit sent to the Sheriff's department and he would be at my door tomorrow, not sure why just said he would be at my door. These people are part of what is called American Legal Services and they are all scamming their way across the US using local zip codes from wherever they are. I could barely understand this creep, I heard affidavit, Sheriff, be at my door, I needed to call and that my SS# and name under investigation, but never who is investigating, and I am on my way to jail. Recorded the message.

I got the same call and he called me Mr. and I clearly a woman. Stated my SSN was under investigation and to contact them immediately. I started getting these calls when I entered my information to try to get a pay day loan. This is a scam and I wish they would stop!

why doen't some one put a stop to these calls. they are scams but they get by. you don't even want a landline. they should have someone arresting them for scams.

I keep getting these calls from 3 different phone numbers from different parts of texas.                           they are india speaking and you cannot understand them. they claim they are calling about a debt. they also called from2149838520. i am not going to pay to have information about them. but someone needs to put a stop to this.

I also received a call from this # ignored it & they left voicemail  about same story.  Have had problems with these scanners also.

Caller states I am from Houston Law firm, court case against me. He was an Indian. So, I acted like an Indian too. I messed with him for about 20 min, and actually had him saying "Brian has a mangina". I recommend when they call you Fu*# with them, they'll buy anything you tell them.

I applied for on line loan, after talking to the cashnet company I declined the loan.  it seemed shady.  about an hour later I received phone call from above number saying that they were law firm and I was being charged with 3 different things in connection with this loan.  they said I received $1000 in my checking account from company, that I obtained the loan by deception and that I refused to repay the loan.  all within about an hour of this online application.  

I got this same call back in december of 2012 and then again 4 times today. Is there anything to be done to stop this or actually sue them? Who are they and where are they located?

I received 25 calls from this number between 10:56am to 11:42. The caller was "Mike Williams". I told him repeatedly to stop calling and that this was harassment and I knew this was a scam. He would never tell me why he was calling He said he would keep calling until I called him back and spoke to his restitution officer . ?? I said I would never call him back so he started calling and hanging up when I would answer. I started rejecting the calls so he left three detailed messages in a row saying the local police was going to pick me up etc.

They have called both my cell and my work number also. I have been getting these calls from the same man using 3 different phone numbers since last September and he always sounds vaguely threatening.

they have called both my cell phone and my work. my boss has told me not to worry about it. i am curious on how they are getting my number or my social, as none of that info i have used online.

I just got the same call. I tried to get as much info as possible but couldn't understand him.
He said I was under investigation of $425.00. And if I dispute the case it will be $3000.00
I told him I would call back with my attorney but I guess that's not necessary now

This number is contacting my job sayin I owe them money

I received about 3 calls from this number but i didnt answer cause these people are scammers. I reported the number to the police and when they called they started a profanity laced tirade against the investigation officer so this number will be forwarded to the FBI

Yes notify your local police because these people are scammers the calls originate in India. Dont let these people scare you. You have rights. I notified numerous law firms and they stated that they are committing felony charges by harassing and threating consumers

Received a voiceamail, claiming to be from "Houston Law Firm" and his name was "Peter"  (based on the extremely heavy accent, this is not his real name).  The message goes on to say,
"I have received an affidavit against you at this moment your social security number is under investigation. so i heard background it bad word so sound it scam! so they called me at home and work .. so i didnot answer anymore so i will report to police today after work!
