Requesting donation, I declined

Requested a donation.

When I 1st answered the call, I didn't catch the "A" in the caller ID info & had gotten off the telephone with my wife not 15 seconds before; the only other person who might have me listed as their emergency contact is my Mom...

So anyhow, as I declined, my standard statement for phone calls like this is "Sorry, but we don't do any donations over the phone.  Please permanently take us off your list." (This is supposed to work for any co. or group that calls as I worked in telephone 'appointment setting' about 20 years ago & we'd have to strike a person off the list; if you just hang up on them, the name is then recirculated to the bottom of the pile until it bubbles back up to be called again.

<click> I hung up; case closed, right?.

I then put the phone into the charger as it was beeping the "low battery" warning & before I could get to the other cordless phone, he called back.  I answered & then hung up immediately.

The same guy then called me back AGAIN, lightning fast (like 4 or 5 seconds later) & said "We're not soliciting, a DPS officer died in the line of duty recently while working a routine traffic stop & he has a family, etc."

I let him go for about 30 seconds & then repeated my standard statement as listed above.  He then flat out hung up on me (finally).

W.T.F.?  Heavy handed tactics, to be sure, & it's because of the potential for a high % of the collected dollars going to support fund raising shite like this that I don't do any donations @ all over the phone.

The person who called was rude and pushy.  I told him I do not make donations over the phone and that I would check on it online.  He started going on and I mentioned that there is no Texas Highway Patrol, it is the Department of Public Safety.  He told me I did not know what I was talking about and that I should shut-up,, then he hung up.  He was an official do***e bag.

LIAR.....Make sure when you stop by tell the Attorney General I said keep up the good work! You need to lay off all those drugs that flood Travis County!

This guy called me at 8:10 tonight and started a pitch for the Hwy Patrol officers killed in action.  I told him I don't take phone solicitations and I'm on the do not call list, and I hung up.
Less than a minute later he called back and called me an "a***ole" and hung up.  I called the number back and he answered "Highway Patrol".  I hung up.
I seriously doubt he has anything to do with the Texas Highway Patrol.  They have a different number.  Technically, he is impersonating the Highway Patrol and hopefully that's illegal.  The 281 area code is in the Houston area and I'm 150+ miles away in Austin.  The attorney generals office is across the street from my office.  I'll drop by during lunch tomorrow.  This guy needs to be stopped.

Requested a donation, said they'd lost 5 officers in the last year and their families need help.  I asked what percentage of donations goes to officers and he said '100%' and they don't use outside telemarketers and are a 501(c)3.  I told him to send me information and I'd make a decision then, and he hung up on me.  I guess he was hoping I'd give him credit card info over the phone.

There is nothing on the http://www.thpa.org website about them running a fund raiser.  Also, it looks a bit hinky.

Got a call from this number and I told the person that I am not interested. Kep calling me. Called me three times, and told me that he will keep trying other time when it is better. His tone was very threatening. Mentioned that there is no 'NO-CALL' list for HWY Patrol. Tried to make it sound very official like. When i refused to talk, he wanted to talk to my wife. When I declined his request, he mentioned in a very threatening tone that I will hear from him later, and hung up.

This guy needs to be restarined. One bad apple is giving a bad name to the rest of people.

This John Taylor guy called me, I politely declined, he called back three times.  I'm going to report the fraudfeasor to the Texas AG's office.  You should, too, if he called and harassed you as well.

Call sounding very official and assured me he was NOT a telemarketer...hmmm
I am on a 'no call' list, and still he called....he did confirm my address...
hmmmm....I guess I should have googled before I talked to him...
but more as it occurs...
He was polite and curtious...even when i said no.

This is a call from the Houston area.  I have several kin in various police departments and somehow I can pick up their voice demeanor.  I recognized this caller right away but I told him I was a contributor to causes as he stated, but in my area, not 200 miles away.  He let out a little growl and slid off the phone.  I believe the caller is a fraud and should be dealt with.  I had a similar call about 2 years ago and went as far as a collector came by.  I had asked for descriptive correspondence when on the phone.  The chap who came to my door said he was to receive the money BEFORE he could hand me the information.  I informed the State HWY patrol and my local police after I dismissed this guy..

HAHA - That's some funny s*** "Ellen"... You should lay off all those pills so you can resist the urge to make s*** up!

John Taylor called.  He's been calling many many times.  This time, he cursed at me and threatened me saying that he knows where I lived and was going to find and kill me.

He gave me my exact address, my husband's name and my name.
