They called talking about a family magic show at a local civic centre...

Got a call from them on 2/14 @5:42PM.  I have caller ID, so I did not answer.
I remember several calls from the same # last year.  Caller ID said Community Event.

these numbers are calling all the time. I don't answer because I know it's some kind of telemarketer.

Said they were calling from the Brest Cancer Center seeking donations.

This is a CALL CENTER, and not the actual organization calling you.  They call wanting you to commit to donating "on the honor system," and send you the info in the mail to return with your payment.  Because they portray their self as a Charity, they are Exempt from having to respect the Do Not Call List.

The funny thing is, they have this speech that is EXACTLY like the one for the Lyons Club, the Shiner's, and the Texas State Troopers.  Only about 20% of money donated actually goes to the charity that they solicit for.  The rest they keep for administrative costs.  

I would suggest that anyone wishing to support these "causes," donate DIRECTLY to the cause and not to some call center that changes their numbers and hides their organizations name on the Caller ID.
