This is a fraud campaign currently active in Canada using a series of Iristel VOIP numbers from the 289 Area Code (Brampton, Ontario Canada).  The objective is to obtain your credit card number and drain your account.

If you attempt to "opt out" your number will be confirmed as live and added to a suckers list for repeated future calls.

If this call came from area code "202", would you say that "This is a fraud campaign currently active in Washington, DC"? No, you wouldn't. VOIP calls can come from anywhere in the world, Nigeria for example. It's been stated on this forum that caller ID is becoming obsolete. The caller ID of any phone, anywhere in the world, can be faked. What you mean is that you received a phone call from a foreign, or domestic criminal.

We received the same call a few moments ago.
Man claiming he represents Disney.
He said we won a trip...registration fee over 200 dollars!
Total scam I think!

I just got the same call.  They were asking about my credit card, my husband's email adress and my name... They hung up when I told them it would be better if he was the one talking to them, that I was not aware that he had registered for any contest.

We have received a couple of calls from a company claiming to represent "Disney", stating that we had won a free trip due to an on-line registration for information on Florida that was made by my husband. I'm trying to determine what company is placing these calls.

The first call my husband dealt with in a patient and humorous manner, asking that they send further details and/or information that would allow us to get back to them. No such information was received. The second call, earlier this evening (Feb. 11), I answered and insisted to the caller that we had not registered for anything with Disney. I have no patience with people who continue to talk over me while I'm explaining that we had not registered, are retired and are not interested, and hung up.

The Disney Corporation should be notified that if this is a scam and they're using the Disney name,  this is not a good thing for their rep.
