If this call came from area code "202", would you say that "This is a fraud campaign currently active in Washington, DC"? No, you wouldn't. VOIP calls can come from anywhere in the world, Nigeria for example. It's been stated on this forum that caller ID is becoming obsolete. The caller ID of any phone, anywhere in the world, can be faked. What you mean is that you received a phone call from a foreign, or domestic criminal.

This is a fraud campaign currently active in Canada using a series of Iristel VOIP numbers.  The objective is to obtain your credit card number and drain your account.

If you attempt to "opt out" your number will be confirmed as live and added to a suckers list for repeated future calls.

Received a call from 289-276-0091 , once the answering machine kicked in there was no message.  In researching it comes from the Bowmanville, Ontario area,  411 shows there is no such number.  ????
