I received a call from this number on my cell phone, I have no idea how they got my cell phone number because I rarely use it or give it out.

How do you block these calls please???

I won a cruise, all they need is my visa number to secure my position in queue - yeh, right.
I said I don't speak no English and can't stand the waves for a cruise.

Received call from 289 800 0137. Caller ID showed the name of caller as "Markham, ON". As usual, they did not leave any message. Blocking my caller ID, I called them back within 1 minute, but as usual there was an automated message that "Survey time has expired". The same company has been calling me using dozens of other numbers, normally between 6 pm and 8 pm, but I never answer the unknown calls. I always report these numbers, dates and time of calls to 'complaints department' of Canadian Do-Not-Call list office.

Got call today, picked up and it's the recording of winning a cruise trip.

If you have a samsung phone, go to your call logs. Then press and hold their number. Select the "add to reject list" option and bob's your uncle.

I got a call three times from this number at roughly 2:35PM today. Didn't answer and it hung up quickly. I'm from Vancouver.

Received another call on my cell. Where do they get my cell number from? It's not posted anywhere.

Just got a call from this number to an OTTAWA, Ont number - no message left - why can't someone stop this abuse of the telephone.

"Hello, you could win a free cruise to the Bahamas...."  
That was the opening line of a recording I heard before hanging up. Could be the same promo company for Globe & Mail subscriptions but it don't matter; it's an invasion of privacy. And it's immediately going on my call block list. Too bad somebody hasn't developed a realtime app that searches the web and tells you who is calling while the phone is still ringing. I'm not talking about Caller ID; that only shows honest people. I want an app the identifies scams and telemarketers!

Called my cell twice in the middle of the day. No voicemail left. I am in Cambridge, Ontario.

I called them back - it's just another telemarketing company ("IV Promotions" ??) making calls for Globe & Mail subscriptions.

There is absolutely no reason (other than bribery, corruption and of course "lobbying" that has involved both bribery and corruption) why newspapers should be exempt from the Canadian DNC list, and thus permitted to make these obnoxious calls. The newspaper industry is shrinking in Canada and the newspapers are throwing all kinds of money at desperate  marketing efforts that waste the *time* & *money* of UNINTERESTED private individuals. The *ONLY* way in this country to keep private companies' various nefarious marketing tactics under any sort of control (especially by strengthening the provisions of the DNC list regulations) is to vote NDP at all times, every time. The Liberals and Conservatives are in bed with the newspaper industry.

They're not looking for anyone in particular - they're looking for anyone gullible enough to answer.

Your new number is someone else's old number.  Your caller was looking for the previous owner.

Received a call on my new cell. Haven't even given the number to anyone yet and haven't even made a call from the cell. Obviously didn't answer because I thought it was a scam but wondering how they got my number already. Very frustrating.

No one there when I pick up. They just might get the whistle treatment if they phone again. That stopped the last persistent one.

Got a call from them today and as I keep the phone ringer turned off I never heard it. saw it later in the day.. if it was really important they can leave a message
