I spoke with some scuzzy non-speaking english dirty scum.

The displayed number is bogus because 1) Area code (NPA) 291 in not in service and 000 is an illegitimate Office code (NXX). A telecom carrier is complicit with the calling business by allowing an invalid number to be displayed as a Calling Party Number.
Jas 2011-06-06 20:44:38 Unknown
I knew this number was illegitimate when it appeared on my caller ID, therefore, I never answered and no message was left either.

they called me one day...it said "do you want to lower your interest rate press 9 " so i pressed 9 knowing by doing this i would get a real person... i said take this number off your calling list...he said "maam..hand up the phone i said take this number off your list he said HANG UP THE PHONE...so i got another call 3 days later and i set them up for a sale.....when they asked for my credit card # i mixed up all the numbers and the last four i said &@#% you THEY ARE A SCAM HANG UP ON THEM
Karen 2011-06-06 20:44:38 Unknown
Ya they called me today about a lower interest rate. I asked what card is this for? He said he doesn't know because of the privacy act. Right then I knew something was up. He said he just needed a little information & that it wasn't sensitive. I told him my card company said they would never call so I'm leary about giving information. I asked what number are you calling from so I can call you back? I hear CLICK! Bastard hung up. It even sounded legit in the background sounded like an office.

This number appeared on my Caller ID this morning. I did not pick up. Instead I came on here and looked it up. I have no clue who they are. I tried to block their number, but my service kept saying the number was incorrect?

Same old credit card story. Found solution for all these unlisted numbers etc. I just pick up the phone and hang right up. They are really a PITA.
caritta 2009-11-04 23:24:35 Unknown
Got a call from them today at 4:12PM Eastern time.... when I picked up the phone,it was like they were almost half way thru the spiel about lowering my credit card rate. Hung up cuz I had gotten a similar call about 6 months ago, different number, and they want info from you about the card with the highest interest rate.
I can't believe these people can't be caught and prosecuted.....God knows what they pull on senior citizens who are on fixed incomes and think they are being given a break. They need to burn in Hell....but God will take care of that! Just happy to have a forum to vent my rage and check things out!

Just got a call from 291-000-8794, "name unavailable" on caller ID...how convenient. I pressed 9 to see what's up...sure enough they wanted to lower my interest rate on my Visa or MC. I asked who they are and how they got my number, to which they responded by hanging up. I'm on the do not call list, so this must be a scam.
My thanks for the information on how to file a complaint.
Jay 2009-11-03 19:11:05 Unknown
Jim - I got a call from these jerks, but I didn't answer. My solution to telemarketers is to call them every profane name in the book until they hang up. I'm on a no call list & I let them have it both barrels.

I did not pick up. Looked up number, and ended up here. I am on Do Not Call lists. They can be fined for this, yes? I don't have credit cards, so this can't be with anyone I do business with.

When I connected to a live person, Jim, I asked why they were still calling me after I asked them 3 times not to and that I am on the do not call list, was told that the do not call list ws for idiots like me and he hung up.

If I can find out who these a%^ h*^&%$ are I will rip out there voice box so they cannot call anymore. They want to get you to give you credit card info so they can use it

recording stating last notice of opportunity to reduce credit card interest rate, press 9 to speak with an operator.
When the operator picked up, I told "I did not want to be contacted anymore".
She then hung up on me, I wasn't able to call the number back.
these companies infuriate me.
