Oh yeah, and this independent agent for Primerica does sound as if he has some issues.   I would not work with him.
Each office is different.  Though there is a corporate philosophy, he sounds as if he has missed it.

Lot of misinformation about Primerica here.
Essentially here are the basic facts as of 2013 Dec.
Primerica is NOT a Job.  It is a commission (essentially) based system.
The 99.00 is a introductory fee and shows a commitment - and goes to corporate for processing your paperwork.
Sets up with an email at primerica, gives you a web site location for your Pseudo franchise/MM/Sales Organization (whatever you want to call it).
What you build with Primerica is a reflection of your interests or goals with input from your upstream (lead, guider, mentor).
the 25.00 is optional, but you need it for access to the Life, Annuities or Life, Annuities Health, and later for the Kaplan based Series 6, 63 and 65 and other exams to get your securities license.
They believe in TERM over UNIVERSAL Health, Whole Life, as they recommend culturally to move the savings you would have paid to a more expensive Insurance plan into Managed Funds, 401K, ROTH.
They teach Financial Awareness for the majority of people who are clueless.
FACT:  If you don't have a business linked to your AT&T or Verizon, once you join PFS you can take between a 17 and 23% deduction on your family phone bill through AT&T and or Verizon.  For example, I have a 180.00 monthly phone bill that is reduced 17% by Verizon, due to my at primerica email and that in turn pays my 25.00 a month, which gives me free continuing Kaplan Securities training, and did provide my Life, Annuities and Health.
This is a company for self starters OR those who want to change their lives.   I have seen all types.
No contact information for me here, so this is not a sales pitch.  If your a Type A personality, and willing to do INITIALLY part time commission based work, and grow a business, you can make a lot of money or at least get trained in Securities if you put in the time to train.
The only other costs herein not listed is for your series 6 there is like around 50.00 fees for fingerprinting, NOT done through PFS (Primerica), and I think some of the license certifications which are cheap (in the 58 to 61 per test range) cost you, but those are worth having on your resume anyway.  Called Subject Matter Expertise.   No, I am not a senior member of staff or anything like that, but I liked the training.

This Ken guy is a complete nutcase!  He came into our offices without an appointment.  Obviously trying to sell our company something.....he asked for the person in charge and the receptionist replied you will have to make an appointment.  He said no that he would wait till she was free.  After waiting a bit because we were very busy  he asked the receptionist where was the bathroom.  Once out of her sight he walked down the hall and entered a restricted area and approached the doctor.  She was a bit put back that he just walked into her office and started to introduce himself to her with his hand outstretched like they had a meeting scheduled or something. She told him he would have to speak with the manager and lead him back to the front lobby.  The receptionist then asked would he like to make an appointment with the manager and he said no he would return another day.  He then came back the very next day and I was busy but my front desk girl let me know that weird guy was back.  When he saw me walking down the hall he headed directly up to me and I told him he would have to take a seat as I was attending to patients.  When there was no one in the lobby I went to speak with him and he is soooooo aggressive that I had to ask him to leave.  He walked out slammed the door almost breaking the glass saying that he hoped we went out of business.  A few days later he wrote a review,"

Ken R
Worst Dentist office EVER! Office manager was rude as HELL! AVOID! It is also dead inside! No one there! No wonder! This dentist deserves to go out of business!  I didn't even get my teeth cleaned, I was so blown away at the rudeness I left within 5 minutes!"

That this guy had the nerve to post something like this when he was in our office to sell something and definitely not a patient says it all about this guy and I would be very leary dealing with him in any capacity.

Ken Rippa .. Great Guy... Primerica A GREAT COMPANY has paid Me and My Family over $35k in the Last 12 months.. and even though its not $100,000 yet... I use to make $29k (before taxes) and was told what to to when to do and what to wear while doing it at a Job with bosses that i disliked... so Primerica to me equals FREEDOM... if you get a CALL FROM this gut or anyone RELATED WITH THIS COMPANY... DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR and dont let misinformed people on a unregulated BLOG, or internet site.. keep you from getting information yourself and making your own decisions. If you want to do research.. do REAL RESEARCH!!

If the business is so good why does it require a 99 dollar investment? Why can the company not charge? Why can the company invest in its employees. The stock exchange means crap. You guys are running a masquerade there and fooling people who don't have jobs. This is a scam, don't do it people!!!

If it's such a scam why would it be listed on the New York Stock Exchange???!!!  Don't you think that the New York Stock Exchange would do their research before including a scam company?? Here are Friday's closing numbers:

Becoming a member is like owning your own franchise. You are the business owner. You could buy your own franchise in another business, but you are going to pay much more.  For instance, do you think Subway would  sell you the rights to use their Subway name for your own personal franchise for $99.  NO! Of course they're not.  This is a pretty cheap investment if you ask me to own your own business. And, if you follow through with getting your life license and fufilling the initial life app, you get your $99 back! If you don't believe it.. look it up yourself!

Ken Ripa is a scammer that preys on people who are desperate for a job. What type of company would ask you for 99 dollars and them a monthly charges to give you a job. I am sorry, but this is one of the dirties business I've seen. When Ken called me, he made it sound like a legit financial company. When I arrived to his office hey herded us to a room where a guy gave us a big speech about how good the company was. He insisted on me giving him the 99 dollars. What a scumbag!! Ain't you Ken?

My husband joined Primerica about 3 months ago.  I must admit I was extremely skeptical in the beginning.  He told me about the $99 fee and I told him it was an idiot and was wasting his time.  He went to the weekly meetings, then came home telling me about how excited he was about the company and how much potential there was as far as money to me made.  I, once again, thought he was crazy, but was afraid to crush his dreams by telling him this business was a scam.  I just figured he would do it for a few months, realize his mistakes, and move on.  Well, against my good judgement, I agreed to go to one convention meeting with him a couple weeks ago. I came back with a different outlook. It was so refreshing to see so many people rooting for one another and genuinely happy at each others successes.  So many people were called up on stage to receive awards for their sales and they were very genuine with their stories.... including Ken!  It wasn't all about financial success and who made the most.  People were just happy to be out of their financial chains that held them back for so long.  And, they were excited to be in a business that helps other people.  I told my husband that I didn't want to hear anything about primerica until he could "show me the money."  And, when stubstantial checks started coming to him in his 3rd month  with just a few hours per week, I was a believer.  I know that this is only the beginning for us, I am just glad that we found this company when we did.  I have a doctorate degree and  already earn a 6 figure income, but I could see myself doing this alongside my husband one day. Even though my husband and I together have a very substantial income, we still live paycheck to paycheck. I would be so relieved to finally have school loans and car payments gone and have more time to spend with my children.  My neighbor has been in Primerica for years and introduced us to it, we have seen his bank statements. We have seen the bank statements for the RVP's...they genuinely are making money.  Primerica is basically network marketing.  If you google this, you will see how network marketing is not a scam.  It's the most perfect business of our time.  It allows a person to earn passive income. It allows people to build a huge business by training others who train others and so on creating a huge downline. The only people who don't succeed at this business are the ones who quit. If the business is so great, then why such recruiting techniques you ask? Well, it's because Primerica doesn't spend money on advertising, telemarketers, or paying people a set salary.  Instead, they give anyone the opportunity to own their own business. You have to go out and find business. You have to go out and find recruits.  After you have exhausted your family and friends list, then you have to come up with some unconventional ways to find people. Yes, that doesn't sound appealing to most. But, if you want to succeed at this businness, then that is what you have to do. Most people fail at this business because once the "warm market" is gone, they give up. Most people are afraid to invest $99 to buy their own business, but they won't hesitate to go out and spend 3 or 4 times more on the newest electronic gadget. Go ahead and say it's a scam, but it's not. If you say you can't afford to try it... I say you can't afford not to.

Funny, those companies don't "advertise" on here like you do. They don't have to send their "Regional Vice Presidents" to sites like this and insist they're not scams like you do. They don't have to, but Primeriscam apparently does. Funny, huh?

Imagine working (and I use the term "working" loosely) for a company (and I use the term "company" loosely as well) that requires its Regional Vice Presidents (great title LOL) to go on sites like this to promote their opportunity (and I use the term "opportunity" loosely).

Most people would be unable to do a "job" like that, to be reduced to such a low level of w***ing for bucks, that it would make them physically sick. But not old Kenny boy here LOL. Nope, he's a really strong person without a conscience who wants the best for himself not matter how many other people he has to trick into trying to sell 5th rate "financial products" (and I use the term "financial product" loosely) to their friends and family, when they couldn't even begin to explain or understand those "products". Meanwhile, the RVP (that's Kenny boy here, or some other conscience-less clone just like him) sits somewhere higher on the pyramid and rapes err I mean reaps the benefits.

Does this sound like a dream job for you? Then GO FOR IT. And if you're good enough at lying, maybe they'll give you a nice sounding title like they did Kenny boy here, and sentence you to promoting the "opportunity" on web sites like this, where we warn each other about scams like Primeriscam.

Good luck!

My name is Kenneth Ripa, and I am a Regional Vice President with Primerica Financial Services. Primerica is the ideal business opportunity for today's entrepreneurs. If you have a passion for helping others and making a difference in the community, you will love what Primerica stands for. Our mission is to help families become properly protected, debt free, and financially independent.

People contact us looking for a 'job,' because they have either been laid off or need to make extra income. We are not a traditional 'job' with a salary and benefits, we are a business opportunity! It has been a family business for 24 years, and we currently have 6 offices, & 200 licensed agents. We are in the most regulated industry in our country, and our agents are licensed through the Bureau of Insurance in Virginia, the SEC (Securities & Exchange Commission), & FINRA. We do extensive background checks & fingerprinting throughout our hiring process to see if an individual qualifies.

People that are looking for a 'job,' with traditional salary income and benefits may not understand Primerica's opportunity! We are a business opportunity, not a 'job.' People that complain on this website either have never owned a business, or were looking for a 'quick fix,' to an unemployment situation. Or possibly, they never really invested the time to understand what we do for families. You get out of Primerica, what you put in! Sweat equity!

The opinions/postings of people on this site are from people that either didn't understand what we do, or never invested the time to see how credible we are! Please don't be misinformed, and review some of the third party articles below so you can see how credible our company is!

John,
I read your post & I apologize if you were confused. Primerica is not a job, we have a very unique and special business opportunity! If I opened a Chick-Fil-A today, it would cost me hundreds of thousands of dollars to start, but the return would be ten-fold! Americans also spend thousands of dollars to attend college to receive a degree to in return make more $ right? I agree you should never pay for a job, we are not a job, rather a business! We have a standard $99 dollar application fee which goes towards a textbook given to us through the Bureau of Insurance in VA, and also your criminal background check! We do not make any money in hiring you, rather our company looses money if someone decides they are not interested since they invest $1,000+ to help you become a licensed financial professional through the Bureau of Insurance in VA and the SEC (securities and exchange commission). I am sorry the business wasn't for you, and we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!

Hey Trevor,
Like mentioned in other posts this has been a family business for 25 years with 6 offices & 200 licensed agents! My father Tad Ripa, made over $400,000 dollars last year helping families get out of debt, saving for retirement, etc. He helped over 500 local law enforcement officers from major police departments in this area, & has thousands upon thousands of clients. I wish you had taken the time to get to know him because he is a great person! Either way, we wish you the best luck in your future!

I haven't been called by him yet, but I think there might be a misunderstanding.  The Ken Ripa that I have been referred to (with the same phone number, and from a trusted resource) is a recruiter from Primerica Financial Services, Sterling Office.  Maybe the offers that he was suggesting were investment opportunities since that is one of their specialties.

Before you rip someone's name, do some research.
