Stop answering the calls.  If your phone allows you to assign ring tones to specific numbers assign this number the ring tone "no ring" to make the calls easier to ignore.  Contact your phone provider to see if calls from this number can be blocked.

The caller is NOT from the DEA.  Thats not how they work.

Got a call from someone with heavy accent on sunday saying he was a DEA officer doing an investigation... I asked to call back on a week day - he's not working on Dec 31, but is on Jan 1???

Said has a warrent and if I dont cooperate will send someone to arrest me, related to some internet pharmacy.  No idea, but sounds fishy.

Got a name Brian Castalan in Baltimore MD 301-534-8745 x 214

He said to call back and speak with anyone if hes not there... or else.

So I asked my neighbors, one with US State Department, the other a prosicutor with state attorneys office, both laughed and said it is a extortion scam and to check out the DEA website and report the info for investigation.  These criminals are based in the Dominican Republic.

http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/pubs/pressreleases/extortion_scam.htm

If they come here, well the special ops security will take care of them.

I am reporting these bums to the authorities to be tracked down.

This news investigation video says it all includes interview with real DEA

My wife got a call from David Lopez and it was pretty believable up until the part about paying the fine at a CVS pharmacy.  I called the number back from a different phone and get a series of beeps and then a busy signal.  Long and behold Steven Gomez called me back at that different number with the same story about how the DEA confiscated a package of drugs that had my address on it a couple of days later.  They did not realize that they called me and my wife with the same story hours earlier.

The story is convincing initially, but falls apart when you think about.

1.  They say they confiscated drugs headed to you.  A real investigation would track the package and see who actually receives they package.
2.  A real investigation would not tell you that they are coming to search your home.  That would give anybody with anything a chance to get rid of it before the authorities show up.  They would just show up.
3.  A real investigation would not warn you that you about to be arrested.  That would give a real criminal a chance to escape prior to authorities showing up.
4. No paperwork before a fine.  Please. Paying the fine at Western Union or a money gram.  Yea right.  Sending it to the Domican Republic.  That should be the icing on the cake it is BS.
5.  They state if you want to talk an attorney then the deal is off and they will come after you.  They desperately try to talk you out of it.

Prank Call
I got a call from Both david Lopez and Steven Gomez claiming to be with the DEA .  Honestly, it was good and convincing to a point.  He had me and my wife scared.  He stated the Federal Prosecutor was willing to issue a fine to have the matter settled.  I believed him until he gave me the address to pay the fine.  I looked up the address and it was  just down the street at a shopping center, which I found strange (I would expect to pay a fine at a US Courthouse).  I then did some research and found out it was scam.

he called me back from a different phone to him from a different phone a day later with the same message (I called him back during the first call from a different phone and got a a busy  a long pause and then a busy signal.  I think that it records the number called and they look up to see who called them.  My wife and I have different last names so they did not know he was talking to someone he had just called 2 days earlier).   I  asked him who was the federal prosecutor on the case.   He told me Juan "something" and it was being handled out the US District Court in Albany, York.  I asked him what district that was and he said district 78.  I told him I believe that district is the US 2nd district for Northern New York and there is no district 78.  He then got flustered and hung up.

Honestly, they sounded convincing until the part about immediately paying a fine via a Moneygram with no paperwork.  You am questions and throw BS back at you hopin you believe it.

He was barely understandable with the accent and said the DEA was coming after my boss if I didn't give her home phone number.  I said right, and that he was no DEA agent.  I can't believe the government can't stop this guy.

Prank Call
I got the same call from Steven Gomez on 9/10/12. Said he was a DEA special agent and would get rid of the federal charges if I would pay a $1,300 "fine", wired to the Dominican Republic, becuase his "investigation " showed I was a good, law abiding citizen. He was very smooth talker, very insistent and then, finally, threatening. I called my attorney, who told me to call my local police.  They turned in a complaint to the real DEA and told me it was a scam. He kept calling me at least 10 times, but I don't answer.

He's a scam. If you ordered meds online, the companies can sell your information to clowns like this. He is completely fake. I've called this guy out there times, all different numbers. he will start yelling at you that he's a Tennesseans will come to your address and "take care of you himself". He's a joke and is sitting over seas getting money from people not smart enough to figure him out.

Got a garbled message from this number from a guy named Brian Gonzalez purporting to be with the DEA. Same claims as above. Called the number he gave - was a magicjack number that is now disconnected. Called back the number he called from and it went right into an unprofessional voicemail system - clearly not from a government agency. Searched DEA site, and they describe this very scam. They have a hotline number 1-877-792-2873.

Yup, he called me today, too. The guy said the same thing, and tried to threaten me! I don't know what the deal is with this guy, maybe it's how he gets off. I wonder if he ever heard of the one about "Prince Albert in a can"? I used to make crank phone calls like this when I was about, oh around 7 years old........hello DEA guy, whoever you are, (alias: nut job), grow up and get a real job!

Right? Huh?

Kidding aside.........who is this guy, and why is he doing this?
