5pm - Mon. 11/30/09 -
just got a recorded message call from this number - 301-601-7357.
the "guy" said this is for the person who has an account with us - that I should touch "1" to talk to them, or should call back the number appearing in my cellphone screen..that it was important. yeah, right. if it was someone or a company I do business with - a reputable company - they would have identified themsleves. plus I never return any call when they do not say who it is, or what exactly it is about -- so I can figure out if it is a true call & not a scam or harassment call.

They are a collection agency, and one of the lowest order since they acquire phone numbers through Phishing, pretexting or other illegal means as well as their use of “Robo-Calls“.  They hijacked our unlisted number and called for someone we know but has never lived here nor we have ever co-signed for.  These filth don’t pay you, I or anybody else they harass to do their illegal skip-tracing dirty work, so it will be a cold day in hell when we will rat out anyone to collectiod scum.  There are already laws prohibiting this kind of third-party harassment, they need to be better enforced.

Here’s an update on these dirt bags: Consumer Recovery Associates, LLC 2697, International Parkway #260 Virginia Beach, Virginia 23452 And Peter Mitchell, Manager.  A collection agency, commonly known as a “Junk-Debt” buyer, (Specializing mostly in very old, expired, bogus and/or legally uncollectible accounts)  In addition to the usual filthy methods used by debt collectors,  They are known for using “Spoof” caller ID’s ranging from Beverly Hills, Ca to Edison Island, SC and everything in between as well as Phishing, pretexting and other illegal scams to get third-party phone numbers, often of people who know those they are trying to locate and dunn information out of them.  This is a blatant violation of federal law and EVERYONE who gets a call from them should file a complaint with the FTC and their state attorney general Research shows that in April of 2009 they were  found guilty of conducting business in the State Of Arizona without the benefit of a license and lying about having applied for one. (Case No# 09F-BD072-SBD) They were slapped with a Cease And Desist  Order and $5,000.00 in Civil penalties. Unless you actually live in Virginia, it is doubtful they are licensed in your State either.  Arizona had the right idea to haul these crooks into court - The FTC needs to follow suit and if they get enough complaints from people like us, they will.

Number of 301-601-7357 was returned by *69 on 12/22/2009 after I received an abusive call.  Person was looking for someone I don't know and accused me of lying about knowing this person.  When I said you are so belligerent that you must be a debt collector, the caller denied that but was evasive.  Eventually became frustrated with me and hung up.  I have filed a report with Maryland Attorney General.

Here is a good way to deal with these Hitler Youth rejects and their disreputable tactics; First, never mind the number on your caller ID, it’s virtually always a fake and strictly one-way.  But the call-back number on the voice-mail has to be real, otherwise they could never scam a dime out of anyone.  Also, if you know for sure which collection company it is, visit their website and if the e-mail address under “Contact Us” doesn’t readily suggest a debt collector use that too.  Write a realistic-sounding too-good-to-pass-up add for anything appealing to as wide a range of people as possible using their contact info. - then post it on Craig’s List! The ruinous overload of calls and E-Mails will soon cause their networks to crash and with these vermin, down-time is money down the drain.  The vast majority of collectiods took the short bus to school and are therefore notoriously slow learners, but this method will likely get the point across.

Debt Collector
After an abusive call, *69 returned 301-601-7357.  Thanks to the info in these forums I have filed a complaint with my state attorney general.  The caller asked for someone I don't know and accused me of lying, then harrassed me verbally for several minutes until he became frustrated and gave up.  Scum!

Said they were from CRA and were looking for a friend of mine. Said there is a "Very serious matter" and needs to reach this person.

When I asked who the person was, he said "let's not play 20 questions"

Definitely a scammer or someone you DON'T want to be talking to.

1) Don't pickup the phone
2) Don't call back or return a voicemail from these guys
