They get you to call, possibly incurring HIGH charges to you, or they spoof a toll number, or they verify you as a live person and sell your number to other telemarketers.

Do NOT just re-dial unknown numbers anymore.

All these one-ring-hang-up calls are baiting you to call them back so they have live "fish" on the line to sell you something. Ignore and do not call these numbers back!

Thanks to this website, I just deleted this call. Once upon a time we had a US Government who ENFORCED the DO NOT CALL LIST!!!  But that was when CITIZENS had rights and liberties. =NO MORE!!!

Got a call mid morning from this number. One ring, then silence. As usual, blocked the number and added it to my looooong "Village Idiot" list.

A single ring. Maybe they expect people to call them back, but we ignore unknown numbers.

got a call on my work cell phone. There is no way our work cell number was used on a website or for any information other than work.  We rotate the phone among 3 of us.  No idea how they got the number.  Rang and when I tried to answer, no response.  I have blocked this on my phone now.

I called it back. It is spam  It says you visited a website and they were calling you back.

I received a call from this number, picked up, and they hung up.  I have added it to the block list on my phone and recommend others do the same.  On Android phones, simply go to your call history, press and hold the number til a pop up menu appears, and select either block number or add to reject list.  

I got a call from this number a few days ago, rang once then hung up. Used to getting calls that drop in my area so I called back.... "Thanks for giving us a call back here at rewards redemption, we're calling you because you recently made a purchase with one of our affiliate websites which entitles you to a free $100 gift card! Press 1 to receive your card, press 2 to be removed from our calling lists" NOW.... Only because I made a few dollars some years back with phishing marketing calls I pressed 1 to see what would happen next. Some very poor English speaking foreigner woman (assuming indian) picks up. Hi this is (unclearly spoken) can I have your first and last name to see gifts your eligible for?
-Yeah uh I need to be placed on your "INTERNAL DO NOT CALL LIST"

Just got a call from this number on my cell ...appears to be the same as reported by others.

4/30/14 2:08 pm.  Caller ID on my work cell phone says Newark, DE.  Rang one time & hung up.  No message left & I will not call back!

Got a call from this number: (302) 266-1754 that rang twice, then hung up without leaving a message.  Probably just a fishing call to see if it can generate a call-back.

received a call from this number. It rang twice.  As a rule I always let my phone ring minimum of 3 rings before I attempt to answer.  No message was left, I did not call them back.  Likely a "one-time-ring" phone scam.

Phone rang. Checked Caller ID. Didn't recognize the number.  Didn't answer.  Done.  No muss.  No fuss. Not much time taken up with nonsense.  
Didn't pick up to let the caller(s) know that it was a viable number. Didn't listen to find out what accent was used or what the purpose of the call was.  Didn't care then.  Don't care now.
Didn't get upset if the DNC was adhered to (I'm on it but scammers, who don't follow the DNC guidelines, will find ways to get around it) or what Obama is going to do about it.
I have a life and instead of getting bent out-of-shape, morally indignant, cursing and slamming the phone down, and making this a big deal (instead of the small irritant that I choose to make it), I move on with my life.  I'm in charge of what takes up my time.
That's just what I do. Simple.  More power for me and for you, if you follow my lead, right?

P.S.  The DNC IS working; otherwise, calls from legitimate charities, political action committees, annual fundraising calls, and
        other businesses that ARE following the guidelines would be calling, also.

Only rang once.  Google "one ring phone scam".  NEVER call these crooks back!
