Excellent advice! I cannot emphasize enough that the majority of these calls (often when you phone, the recorded voice will roll over to another recording and ASK FOR EITHER LAST 4 DIGITS, OR THE ENTIRE S/S NUMBER. Any person in the world can go on line and find out the rest of your S/S number. There are bogus sites that will supposedly (if you pay) provide full S/S numbers plus b/dates. They "blame it on the computer--that is, these massive dialer systems." You were wise to block it, and to ask her the last 4 digits. These people are moronic goons who sit in a back room and wait for a computer to blast their screens. Then, they start (if you call back, and I suggest you never return any call unless you know exactly who it is--if it's legit, a voice mail will tell you who it is and you may respond ONLY if it is germane to your life) with the S/Security number (!), or birth date, or full account numbers. Then, it may be (and increasingly IS) passed on to any country, site, city or town and your ID is gone). Thank you for an intelligent post. Protect yourself because these machines are owned by millionaires and the drones get $7./hr. Your life and ID is worth far more.

The are calling about former Sprint Accounts...calls all the time on my business line for my niece of which I have told them not to do as she is not authorized to used this number. They became quite nasty and I did also in return with a threat of filing charges for harrassment. Again, this is my business line that they are calling on which is interfering with my daily work activities. They could be potentially costing me money. Then they hung up on me. They have one more time to do so and off to court we go.

it will never work
CINDY 2011-06-24 16:08:58 Unknown
After the 5th time send all dates and times in. it is considered harrassment if the person they are asking for has never lived there.

Calls all the time
Bella 2011-06-06 20:44:47 Unknown
Yes they do call all the time and never leave a message,I decided to call them back by blocking my number and the lady aswered "Thank You for calling RCM How can I help you" I googled RCM popped with some type of technology company I figured if it was a job of some sort they would leave a message as thats the professional thing to do. I then googled RCM Collections and there was a collection agency with such a name. They are a collection agency

called 3 X, never left a message?
whatever 2011-05-20 15:30:43 Unknown
You must work for them. I don't bother with collection agencies either. I refuse to pay them one red cent! I pay the money directly to the company I owe. Some collection agencies charge 50%-100% more for a debt and then try to make you a "deal". It isn't a deal. I owed only $239 and they wanted $489, but would settle for $380. That is not a deal. I paid the company I owed instead.

We have to stop these harrassing calls. So if everyone reports it maybe it will work or we take them to court for this..... We have to work as a team and stop these harraassing calls

RPM is a SPRINT PRE-COLLECTIONS PARTNER
RPM is the name of the agency
Call sprint and deal with them.

Wow, that's nice. It looks like you're saying that you did indeed owe this debt and weaseled your way out of it? Isn't that nice and honest of you? I'm all for avoiding scams and such but this is a legit (maybe not ethical, but real) collection agency and you still figured out a way to avoid your responsibilities. Let me ask, are you on state's assistance too? Because, frankly, that sounds like something a societal cretin would do. As for the Do-Not-Call list? It is only for telemarketers because when you owe a company money, they have every right to attempt to get their money back. Calling the wrong person is an honest mistake; continuing to call the same wrong person is just wrong. Bottom line, what I'm saying is, if you have/had a problem with RPM's business tactics, then file a complaint with the FTC or BBB; don't be a scumbag and not pay back a legit debt.

Go to the link, send em the letter requesting them to validate "your" debt and while ur at it you can get it of your credit :D my husband had a collection acct with RPM n this letter stopped the calls and it was deleted by thw credit bureau per RPM's request. Make sure u send it certified mail so you get a signature of recepit in return, keep a copy of the letter u sent em so u have proof ypu were attempting to sort this confusion out regarding the debt that you suspect is not yours :'( lol I've also worked for other carriers n know that none keep contracts and even if stores kept em they are impossible and a waste of time to track down..... N according to Fair Credit Reporting Act, no contract=non existant account=collection not necessary. And if as the letter states they have laws to abide by as well and if they choose not to u can take em to court and they dont waste their time with one individual so they never show and u win by default..... Telling em to take you to court might irritate the collector you r talking to but thag agent has no power, they r the bottom of the totem pole thats why they r calling you and aggressively trying to collect so they can receive an incentive for making you pay up. Think about it...
For those who dont owe them anything and just get calls for someone else..... Ur # is sum how being associated by mistake or that person gave it so they wont get called or it might have belonged to reference/relative of theirs or a billion other reasons that you will never be able to pin point..... Thats what collectors do. They find anything, a piece of vague info to hound these ppl down n collect. Thats the only way they'll make profit n even if you complain to a VP, do u really think they'll care, muchless do sumthing about it, they only care about profit and that only comes with collecting and doing whatever it takes to get their money. Unforrunately, in another case in which the debt was not mine the do not call list hasnt worked for me because i was told it only applies to telemarketers not collectors. I dont know what u can do about other than turn off ur ringer or be a complete a*hole with em n see who gets
tired first.... The calls will eventually subside

Keeps calling my cell, will not say what they want or leave a message. SCAM!!

I have a disputed past bill with sprint also. The reasons being bad business practices, horrific customer service, and flat out fraud. I'm going to have to pay the bill (50$) for credit purposes but I want revenge. I'm spreading the word not to re-up with them or to get started with their company. One lost customer costs them thousands.

7 days a week calls from this number.... to my cell phone ... Isn't this illegal? What is the effective legal course of action?

This number keeps calling my work phone and I called them back and they told me they are RPM, and gave me the name of a person they are looking for, I told them to they need to stop calling this number it is federal gov't. The man was very rude on the phone and I am sure it probably is some collection agency looking for whom ever but not at this number.

I actually held for the call, I was going to tell them off. But, they disconnected, noone ever picked up.

I don't know how they have the time to call other phone #'s. For just one day's calls I deleted 22 calls. You are lucky to have gotten to talk to some one. I just get a recording. I am not the person they are trying to reach nor have I ever heard of that person.

I just read an article on Fox news within the past week all about debt collecting. They buy these debts from the companies at pennies on the dollars, they harass until it is obvious they won't get it that way, then they threaten you with court, the lawyers file at least 50 a day and won't show up for court so it was said to tell them to take you to court - you show up and win by default! WIll try to find that again and post a link here for any of you who actually owe something.
If they are running your phone bill up file one against them for the amount you have been charged plus anguish... Have to find that article...didn't know anyone who needed it. Wish me Luck in finding it!

By the way, I have no debt of any kind; therefore, no debt collector would be calling me! I was assured by Sprint that I am the ONLY ONE to EVER have this PHONE NUMBER!

I live in West Virginia and they called me asking for the same person! THIS IS A SCAM!
